that song is about my papa john we are from breathitt county and ill tell you the song is true im T.beary blanton my papa name is john W. Thomas thanks for the song
Okay, I recognize Sammy Shelor on Banjo and Ronnie Bowman on the bass... I know the mandolin player isn't Dan Tyminski and it doesn't look like Tim Austin on guitar (though he plays like him)... who are the mandolin player and the guitar player??
This lineup of THe LRB was one of the best bluegrass bands in the history of the genre. I wish they had stayed together. None of them individually has done anything near as good apart from each other as then did when they were in the same band.
Is Sammy playin a top tension 12? or top tension of some kind or another? kinda looks like it, can't really tell. He's a big influence on my playin :) Good stuff here!
hardly the Stanley tradition but it is so much better than originaly done ...

Man, Sammy sure is driving the piss out of this tune! This was the glory days of LRB, and Don's vocals and mandolin pickin' are absolutely great!

That is Sammy's old top tension. Don Rigsby sang this tune on the In The Stanley Tradition CD - Craig Smith played banjo.
