This guy is listening us. Good job Matt, i newer subscribe but i am subscribed to carbuyer and i'm glad i did it ... Best car reviewer out there for sure!!!
two things, 1.WHY THE FUCK does car makers insist on putting back seats in cars that arent big enough, there unusable and heavy and actualy make insurance premiums HIGHER than having a two seater.
2. i know its because it has a manual box, but who would buy a hybrid that cant run on electric only, thats the only reason to buy one....literally thats it....just that... i wanna sit in traffic with no engine on and feel good that its not costing me money, instead u buy this and waste it anyways.
I have been driving this car for 4 hours test-drive. first, i'm 1.96m tall, and this car is just too small for me and its noisy. its very fun to drive it and people look back when you drive it. In SPORT mode its nearly like BMW, but in ECO mode its..economical. Trunk is small either. I would buy Scirocco, because it's more practical and look good too. But, if you need car fun and quality for one or two persons CR-Z is absolutely enough. Just test it and you will see! Good luck!
@radu0gheorghe You're forgetting that the initial investment you have to pay for an hybrid is like 3-4K USD more than a regular family car. for this amount you can buy petrol for almost 4 years! considering this, regular petrol cars are more economical after all.
@TheOne42 yes, you have to pay a premium for hybrids. I didn't forget that, I was comparing them to diesels, which, with similar options on them, are similarly priced. However, you get some of your money back when you sell the car. It think it's not easy to determine which is more economical. Still, I would buy the hybrid because it seems a more natural choice in terms of energy and pollution. And you don't know how fuel costs will evolve (which also influence resell values).
Dated styling from the early 1990-ies, two seats, small trunk, bad visibility, not particularly quick, not particularly fuel-efficient - a pointless car. The Jazz/Fit is the only true Honda these days.
About the car and back seats....you have to understand that Japanese people are shorter than europeans so they can easily put two teenager there or old grandma.
whel Matt what do you expect from a sports hatchbak ? a lot of space in the back and a big boot ? :DDD as i recall all the sports cars or sports hatches have this common problem. If anyone wants room buy a stationwagon or a saloon car, simple as that xD but i must say civic and this CR-Z have the worst rear designt and functionality !!!

Cars are made to run on petrol or diesel. If they invent a hybrid flying sorcerer, then I`ll consider buying something on batteries... Until then get a life and get a normal car :)
Terrible car IMO. All you are paying for is the look of the car (and it dosent even look that great). It is slow, FWD, no rear seats at all in the US, bad rear visability and cargo area. Then it is priced more than equivalent diesel cars that are more fuel efficient and have none of the drawbacks the honda does
Thank you for making this review! I don't know how many other people have requested it, but I know I did. Now I'm actually convinced that you make these videos for us, the customers!
I really don't get it! It is slow, the boot is small because of the batteries, the interior looks cheap (though futuristic), it had useless rear seats and it is not actually as efficient as you would expect. No wonder you hardly see any!
@TheVtieg6 Well, you know what? That's better than Japan because basically you can't have a diesel in Japan. Only Nissan X-trail, Mitsubishi Pajero(Shogun) and commercial vehicles have the diesel option.
@TheVtieg6 The honda crv and golf tdi cost about the same and overall the golf is a better value for money. Better MPG, room, features, ect. diesel is about 50-60 cents more expensive per gallon in the states. The CR-Z sucks... Honda coulda put the fit/jazz engine in this car and it would have sold like hot cakes.
@TheVtieg6 Not sure about the UK, but in the US we don't have many diesels on the market. Plus the CRZ here is $3K less than a similarly equipped Golf TDI and also I'd say for people who drive a lot more in the city, Hybrids are usually better since they can run about without kicking in the gas engine. The Golf TDI is rated 30MPG city, and the CRZ w/ the CVT is 35MPG city. That's really the only reason I can see why. That being said, I'd much rather have the Golf
@TheVtieg6 "why not a diesel?". Quite a flame starter this one, but I'll give it a try: hybrids are more economical for most drivers (consider city traffic), and in the long run (consider parts such as filters, injectors and turbos). They pollute less, and taxes are usually lower. In the winter, they get up to temp quicker and start easier, and they don't "suffer" so much in city traffic (diesels tend to brake down when driven mostly in town, especially if they're not revved properly).
I dont know much about the battery replacement cost but diesels are not really expensive to run. Ive had a few vws tdis in my family which are mostly driven in the city and never had any reliabity problems. They
They warm up faster than normal petrol engines. If you look at a golf tdi it would give better midrange (140bhp 236 ft lbs), better fuel economy on the overall, remap/chip will easily increase the power and fuel economy (but will void warranty), much better build, nicer to drive and refined, more practical, better looking. As for value for money golfs always hold value really well espcially tdi models. This crz is much nicer than the prius but still not good enough
@TheVtieg6 I'm not saying they break down often, but "more often". How often depends on driving style, how long you keep the car, and luck :). I kind of understand why you prefer diesels - I drive a diesel Fiesta and I know why I bought it. But that doesn't mean that diesel is a good choice for everyone. I was trying to answer your "why not a diesel" question because I hope my next car will be electric or hybrid. So I was telling you my reasons :D
Last vw tdi we kep for 3 yrs and sold it about 6 months ago. That was a 02 passat as if you got problems its because you drive a ford not because you drive a diesel
@TheVtieg6 The "breaking down" thing is not a fact that's easy to verify. It's not based on my experience, and your experience is probably just as irrelevant. My statement is more based on discussions with mechanics, taxi drivers, etc. (most of them are driving diesels today). And it's also based on the fact that diesel engines work under higher pressure. So they should be more affected in town driving, where stress and temperature varies a lot. And they're more expensive (that's a fact).
@TheVtieg6 I might be wrong here, and I respect your opinion. After all, diesel engines are more efficient than petrol ones, and comparable with hybrid ones. And I got your point and I don't expect you to change it. I'm just "trying" to explain why somebody else would think differently. For example, the "pollution" argument is very important for me. And I guess this argument is also opened for debate :D. But I really don't want to go there. Not on Youtube, at least :)
Im not trying to attack you im not 'internet gangster' so dont take it the wrong way. When it comes to taxis thats the worst abuse you can give a car and will affect both petrol and diesel. Most engines wont have to through that use but generally diesels are more realible and can do much higher miles
@TheVtieg6 Yes, I figured you're not that kind of guy because you didn't insult me :D. That thing with diesel more reliable than petrol is, I think, only valid for naturally aspirated diesel vs petrol. Now they're all turbocharged (more stress), and in daily usage they are revved not much less than a petrol engine. Again, I didn't get hold of the absolute truth, it's just my understanding. There are many factors involved.

And I got your point and I don't expect you to change it. I'm just "trying" to explain why somebody else would think differently. For example, the "pollution" argument is very important for me. And I guess this argument is also opened for debate :D. But I really don't want to go there. Not on Youtube, at least :)

@radu0gheorghe

But there is no point to buy this car then?
A hybrid sport hatchback? Really. If even the megane coupe is more economical, that says enough.

So, this is neither economical, neither sporty, neither comfy, neither cheap... I really don't see the point of this car.
