  • 100000

  • Is there a faster version of this song in Thai? Because the faster version sounds so much better.

  • Rest in peace Yord Ruck

  • นี่แหละเมืองไทย มีอะไรให้ชื่นใจอีกเยอะ !

    ขอบคุณมากครับ

  • thai or khmer......who cares. obviously SIN SISAMOUTH is half LAO I'am half THAI and CHINESE and YOU ALL PROBABLY ARE MIX WITH SOME KIND OF ASIAN. so sit back and let this SOUTH EAST ASIA put it on the MAP and be happy. We are all realated......someway some how.

  • I speak both Thai and Khmer fluently. This song may be Thai or Khmer who cares. The Thai singer and music are superb. But I like the Khmer version "Thnom Snea" by Sin Sisamouth better, with Angkor in the backdrop, the Khmer dancers, and especially Sin Sisamouth's unsurpassed singing.

  • Who care if this is a Thai or Khmer song. I love Saranyu, Nempeung, and the rest of the funny characters in this lakorn. That's what matter the most. This older version is much better and meaningful than the newest versions. Too bad today dramas lack off in having a meaningful, good moral, and storyline like these lakorns. Used to have a big crush on Saranyu because of this lakorn. He's one of my favorite Thai actors of all time.

  • I don't know whose version came out first but I've heard both versions when I was living near the border in early '70's. I'm Khmer but can can understand a bit of Thai so I like the Khmer better, naturally. The debate will go on. Only the original singers will know for sure. Peace my bro's and sis!

  • We all are human. When we die, we will become dirt the same way. Lets all enjoy life and take care of our family. Our of our blood is the same RED.

    Regards,

    JL

  • yodrak he so cute. miss u so much.

  • Fantastic..bring back good old memories.

  • seriously, does it really matter whom sang it first? i mean you guys are forgetting the main point... both versions sound incredible. i'm khmer and i dont understand thai but i still like this version also. all in all, the whole concept of the song is deeply touching. i thank both legendary singers for providing us with such a beautiful song. a true music lover is after good music despite who sang it first.

  • To all Khmer and Thais who like this song. This song is originally record by Priwal Luke-Petch in 1969. Before Sin Sisamuth (1971). In the first version of the Song movie "Mon Rak Look Toong" Lead by Mitr Chaibancha (and Pethara I Think.)

  • about time someone know the true history of this song....

  • Comment removed

  • @teppasit9 Thank you for clearing this chronicle issue up. I am khmer, and i appreciate this song very much either it is a thai version or a khmer version, I just admire both singer's talents. I wish we are not so biased about it.

  • Does anyone know where I can buy/download this movie???? I have it on VHS, but it's very messed up cause my mom recorded it. So if anyone is willing to help me pls email me or comment me.

  • This is not a cover of a Khmer song. It was originally sung by a Thai country singer in 1969. :)

  • someone upload this version of this lakorn,please???..I don't like the other(new one) version of มนต์รักลูกทุ่ง. I love Saranyu and Peung.

  • Both versions (Thai and Khmer) are good. Just enjoy the damm music!

  • can we just get along here i khen for sure this song is thai from the begeing

  • Can't we just appreciate the music? I guess its kinda of important to know if its originally thai or khmer. (I'm both by the way) As long as the song is sang well, meaning is intact, I'm happy. Muang Thai, muang lao, sok khmer are so close to each other anyways, borrowing is bound to happen.

  • Sorry to you too bro, but you say this is originate from Khmer, that's because you are khmer, if you were thai, then you would said this is thai song and i don't blame you. I don't take any side cause i'm mix, i see khmer sing alot of thai song but never seen thai sing any of khmer song. And what make you think i'm gonna believe this is khmer song. If it is khmer song, does all the song in the movie khmer too?

  • The original composer is ไพบูลย์ บุตรขัน (Paiboon Butrkun) who wrote the song in 1968. ไพรวัลย์ ลูกเพชร (Priwun Lukepet) recorded the song around 1968 or 1969. His song was used in a musical by the same title, Mon Ruk Luke Toong. The first version of the musical was released in theaters in 1970. u can check out the original movie intro here watch?v=_ynn_8rdfhA

  • Im half thai and cambodian, I play in a cambodian band and play alot of Sin Sisomuth song. I listen to alot of Thai song and Cambodian song and this song sound like every Thai luktoong song. Compare this song to all other Sinn Sisomuth song and the melody is totally different. Well who care where it originate from, it might be from Vietnam, just enjoy the song.

  • Cool. I'm half thai and cambodian too plus i'm also mix with laos. My mom is Thai-Laos and my dad is full Cambodian.

  • jupiter, you're not half thai half cambodian, you're half cambodian &, if your mom is half thai half laotian, quarter thai & quarter laotian!! lol!! that's good!! i'm a cambodian of the same situation: khemera chinese & vietnamese!! that's a mixed-race cambodian!!

  • reguardless of who the original composer is, thai or khmer, i like the thai version more because it has better music. I'm khmer btw.

  • um... i just like the music more than sin sisamouth's version. i didnt say he wasnt a good singer. Im 21 yrs old and i wasnt born into sin sisamouth's era and so thats probably the reason why i dont like listening to khmer oldies.

  • pkving, the original Thai song was recorded in 1969.

  • pkving, u said, "this song was composed & sung by sin si samouth in 1970. then a couple months later it was copied by the thai singer named priwal lookpetch," in ur comment in this vid -> watch?v=ihY48PUI36o

  • d'ohh!! i know, right! 68 and 70 are so easy to be misspelled.

  • HILARIOUS! LOL. I admire your sarcasm.

  • It is called mon ruk luktung... but I saw it in khmer and think it's called mhon pleang sneah haa =D

  • What is the name of the thai movie that goes with this song?

  • dude you thought the same thing as you before. But, check the information again, this song is original Thai. Hate to say it lol. But, anyways, in his biography, Sisamouth started to do Khmer versions of Thai songs and other foreign as well after he became very popular and the demand for release is very high.

  • you guys are so retarded. thai, laos, khmer, viet whatever we are all neighbors so stop fighting!

  • voltiss, good good!! lol!!

  • my mom has the soundtrack to this movie but its in khmer...i hella like the movie and song. Its so romantic and sad at the same time.

  • akalholic, "sad"?? no way!! it may be tense, but not "sad". perhaps you may want 2 stop drinkin' 4 a while & listen 2 it again!! lol!!

  • hahahaha....just becuz my name is "akalholic" doesnt mean i am one and no i dont drink its just a nick name that my family gave me that ryhmes with my real name!!! lol

  • akalholic, ah ahh ic ic!! ok ok!! lol!!

btw, when i said it's not sad but may be tense i referred 2 the cambodian version. i aint understand the thai version. so if you talked about the thai version then i apologized & withdrew my comment.

  • its cool...no worries!!! i just love both thai and cambodian version they are beautifully done and i love the movie thats all.

  • (reply 2 akalholic)

    thank you.

  • We all borrowed things from the Indians and the Chinese and our other neighbors. They also borrowed things form us. Who cares who had it first. The Chinese invented gun powder, and they made fireworks with it. The Euros got ahold of it and made guns. Buddhism is from India. We got food from India (Kaang)and China (kuay Tiew). Thai/Khamen boxing came from Burma. The way we dance came from India. If the countries in SE Asia got along better, we would be more powerful. Look at the European Union.

  • well said!!! ;o)

  • Very nice to hear this song. It's been a long time since I heard anything like this.

  • Aranya Namvong or Namwong was the runner-up of 1964 Miss Thailand (while Apasra Hongsakula was the winner and was later crowned Miss Universe at the pageant held in Miami Beach, Florida, USA in 1965). Aranya Namvong has been married to Setha Sirichaya, Thai actor and lead singer of The Impossibles, for more than 30 years.

  • sad song

  • Hey.. does anybody know where i can find anymore soundtracks from this movie? I REEEAAALLLY want them.. or at least hear them. Thanks in advance.

  • Really thank you for this! The soundtrack to this lakorn is (in my opinion) the best look thung I've ever heard. Can never get tired of it.

  • about thai and khmer what history? if its about history i know alot about lao and thai history becuase lao thai we are brothers. you can give me your hotmail msn or yahoo i got aim to i got all them messengers. i'll add u.

  • yo my aim is ironxross7.

  • are you saying you agree with me now? I mean I never seen the old old version becuase I wasnt born but my dad order it from ethaicd. Thats how I knew. I seen only the 1994 and the new one by kob.

  • i'm saying i revoke any claim cuz i don't know the fact of the matter. Sisamouth is king of khmer music so i was quick to defend him, being a nationalist. anyhow, don't care too much if anyone agrees with you or not, man. hey i wanna chat with you about khmer and thai. up for it bro?

  • the thai movie was called mon ruk luktung. Made in 1956 remade again in 1988 then remade into a tv series by channel 7 in 1994 that was a big hit. And just 1 yr ago remade by kob suvanant wasnt a hit.

  • yo i think it was you who i said to stop going around and say stuff. i would like to say i'm sorry because i don't know the origin of the songs or who is it by originally. i jumped to the conclusion earlier because i was an idiot. anyways, i've seen that tv series in cambodia long time ago when thai shows aired in khmer. it's really good, pretty sad storyline but bitter sweet ending.

  • hey sorry i said earlier to stop going around and all that stuff. i jumped to the conclusion. I don't know who really did it first i'm sorry for being stupid. anyways, i've seen the series. sad storyline but bitter sweet ending.

  • what was the name of the TV SERIES BY CHANNEL 7 in 1994?!! saw it back in 95-96 but never got to finish it... Would you by any chance know where i could find it on DVD online? Thank you

  • the name is monruk luktung its been the same name. even though they keep remaking it they always keep the same name.

  • What is the name of the thai movie that is on the MV?!!

  • MonRockLukThung

  • mon ruk lukthung is a movie

  • this isnt a khmer song I got the Thai version from 1956 its from a thai movie back in 1956 my dad got the movie in vcd. This is a remake of the movie I got this version on dvd to.
