Most of the pagans in my area hippies actually. ;)
Even though I'm not Pagan I can understand the frustration of the person you quoted. There are some Goths who wear penticles or half-assedly get into paganism simply because they think it makes them seem "spooky" or "edgy". That's disrespectful of those who are devote pagans. I wouldn't say "a lot" of Goths are pagan. It's just that the subculture is accepting of different beliefs. Thus, you'll see more pagans openly expressing themselves.
I have always been goth....but I have NOT always been Pagan. I was Muslim...and goth...it didn't work well hahahaha....I came to Paganism (not Wicca) but Dark Paganism after having fought off being Pagan for so many years (my faith in Islam was always shaky) so I left Abraham and came to my path...I am still goth - Victorian goth and more vampy - not a death doll...and I will always be that way :)
Well I don't know about you, but I quite like living in Walk Disney movies. Lol beat's reality. I hate labels. I consider myself somewhat ''gothic'', but not necessarily a ''goth''. I wear black lipstick and love black and bands like LondonafterMidnight, and am crazy about Emilie Autumn. But I don't consider myself a goth really, I wear Bindi's and love Indian clothing. I'm a weird one lol. But there is a real beauty in darkness. Labels do suck though, I would say I'm just a general Hippy.
@HippieGirlClaire I still LOVE Disney movies! I'm kinda dying to see Winnie the Pooh. hahaha
That's fine too. I used to hate labels, but sometimes labels are good IMO. And HELLS YEAH I loooooove all sorts of clothes! I don't always do the stereotypical goth thing 24/7, but I don't feel that makes me any less of one and it shouldn't. haha Maybe I just lose some non-existent "goth points" for that. xD Be who you are, it's still beautiful! :D ♥
Spirituality is so personal, i am always sceptical of anyone who believes they have the right to say who has archived enlightenment or such things, there is only one judge 'Yourself', I like your take on the subject. I would say you are more in tune with yourself than anyone who cares about 'Labels' or is concerned with somebodies writings about enlightenment, being yourself is the first step is it not? That is Lilith’s’ way. Very Interesting Video, Thank you, keep being you.
My love for death metal and horror movies are totally separate, I hate it when people tell me that I just got it from death metal or horror movies. I knew about Prostitute Disfigurement and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre way before I knew about Wicca.
@ronanwicca I never said that a person absolutely gets into something because of the other?? Though my love for horror movies and alternative music is part of what makes me a goth in the first place. And I happen to be a goth AND a pagan. I never said that one led me into the other, nor did I say that it's what leads others into one thing. What I DID offer however, was an explanation for why many pagans seem to be goth and why many goths are pagan: The lifestyles happen to agree with each other.
@owlsandankhs I was just expressing a similar view point, I am also a fan of the goth subculture, and I'm getting into the fashion. I was just a little pissed when I posted that.
Wow girl it was about time that someone made this video! I'm so grateful that you did this! You explained things so well I'm not even sure what I can add.I'll maybe post a longer comment tomorrow. But I totally agree with you that the goth subculture and paganism work so well together. In fact I do belive that being a goth lead me into paganism, cause it made me question the world. Today I'm both a goth and a pagan. Hope my rambling made sense. :-) You rock.
i agree with many of your points on why the a lot of the people in the goth community would be into paganism. im not goth im more gothabilly as my friends put it, but i love gothic people and how creative they are a lot of my friends follow the culture and are also pagans, discordians, etc. i think its how goths look outside the box in life and take that road less traveled to find themselves that lead them to paganism that and a strong sense of individual personalty.
I love this question. I'm not goth, but I think people should just dress how they want to dress and what they think best expresses themselves. I love using makeup as part of my practice. For Litha this year, I painted a sun on my face with makeup. I was just in my home to celebrate, but it helped me get in the mood and felt like part of my ritual.
A lot of what you have said i can relate to Thanks for this .. xo

OMG! I went over in a video called "What is Paganism/What are pagans?"
It doesn't go over the stereotypes much but it goes over the faith. Your video is good for stamping the stereotypes. Good job. Thumbs up the video.

I believe I am goth in the soul. Just by looking at me, you wouldn't think so by dress. All the pretty gothic stuff I like doesn't fit me well. ^^
GREAT video.

I totally understand. Never really thought about why the two subcultures match up so well, but they totally do.
