Our human nature creates a kind of "barrier" between us and God. The reason for this "barrier" is our physical nature. Relying on God for all things is a great ability, but it is a gift, a gift of faith. Physical things can help nourish the faith of a physical human help it grow and point the way to God.

Remember the Bible is a physical thing that helps with the same purpose of leading us to God.

The world can prohibit us from and help us get to God depending on the reaction we have to it.

They serve chiefly the same purpose but are simply images of the person being remembered instead of a object they had to remember them by.

Sometimes we get extremely lucky and by the grace of God we become aware of an incorruptible body of a saint. This is amazing and they are to be treasured.

Relics are chiefly mementos but miracles have been known to be preformed through them.

Do you have a deceased loved one? And do you keep something that person owned in memory of that person? That is kind of what a relic is, but it is like a memory in itself to be kept for all the people to see and enjoy.

Relics are kept to serve as a memorial and are not meant to be worshiped.
