The vatican deny 70% of Gods laws that were written on stone by the finger of God. How can they be chosen by God? Most of the wealth they have was tstolen by other nations. Just study history and get real.
Assignats were paper money issued by the National Assembly in France during the French Revolution. The assignats were issued after the confiscation of church properties in 1790 because the government was bankrupt. The government thought that the financial problems could be solved by printing certificates representing the value of church properties. These church lands became known as biens nationaux. Assignats were used to successfully retire a significant portion of the national debt .
here in greece the government has just passed into law a %20 tax on all income from church properties ? the catholic church is a minority here but has stated that they would go bankrupt ,and that the new tax would amount to confiscation of its wealth ? the EU governments are going bankrupt so it is inevitable that these religions with huge financial holdings are going to be taxed ,%90 of the people polled here were in agreement with the new tax ,change is coming ,just watch what happens now ?
The art represents the work of hundreds of artists and artisans, all so marvelously talented and all put to work for the greater glory of God in a Christian world. Today, art serves different purposes, including the glorification of man, and not all of them so good.
i still think they are purposless. the christian faith teach ppl to rely on God chrsit the savior and not on the physical. the bible doesnt say anything about keeping and preserving adn worshipping human body parts. thats kinda sick and sound satanic. silly ppl. you are not gonna get miracles form some dead guys foot or finger. have faith in god not man or things.
Our human nature creates a kind of "barrier" between us and God. The reason for this "barrier" is our physical nature. Relying on God for all things is a great ability, but it is a gift, a gift of faith. Physical things can help nourish the faith of a physical human help it grow and point the way to God.
Remember the Bible is a physical thing that helps with the same purpose of leading us to God.
The world can prohibit us from and help us get to God depending on the reaction we have to it.
They serve chiefly the same purpose but are simply images of the person being remembered instead of a object they had to remember them by.
Sometimes we get extremely lucky and by the grace of God we become aware of an incorruptible body of a saint. This is amazing and they are to be treasured.
Relics are chiefly mementos but miracles have been known to be preformed through them.
Do you have a deceased loved one? And do you keep something that person owned in memory of that person? That is kind of what a relic is, but it is like a memory in itself to be kept for all the people to see and enjoy.
Relics are kept to serve as a memorial and are not meant to be worshiped.
Can someone please tell me where in teh bible and in christ teaching where it supports keeping and praying to relics within the christian faith???? in my mind reilcs are nothing but silly idols and show a lack of faith.
yep...In the old testament...the cape of Elijah was used as a relic by elisha....in the new testament...when a paralitic holds the edge of jesus' clothes...they are healed...there are many evidences that will prove that relics are biblical.
i wonder how many gold teeth , these so called christians ripped out of innocent peoples mouth in croatia in 1945, while still alive. before they butchered them to death to make that ceiling ??? just wondering
I was there in 2001. The modern sculpture speaks of the challenges with which technology faces us. The sculpture is called "sphere within sphere" by Arnaldo Pomodoro. He has many identical sculpture in different places and alot of controversial sculpture.
Gift to vatican in 1990. Arnaldo Pomodoro is an Italian sculptor. He was born on 23 June 1926, in Morciano, Romagna, Italy. He currently lives and works in Milan. His brother, Giò Pomodoro (1930-1993) was also a sculptor.
The Vatican is the greatest museum of Renaissance Art in the world. This art was created by believers to honor God. It includes Michelangelo's Last Judgement and Raphael's Sistine Madonna. To sell it would be a sin. The Church preserves these treasures for the benefit of posterity.
The Catholic Church is the greatest con game ever mounted in the history of mankind; only the gullible, the foolish and the truly desperate could ever fall for such a ludicrous notion as their assumed superiority, snake-oil beliefs and criminal activities in the name of God--yet!
Ok...lets pretend for a moment your right and the Vatican really should sell all of its treasures and give the money to the poor.
Do you have any idea how impossible that is?
The accumulated wealth of the Vaticans treasures is so vast that finding someone or a group of people to sell all of it to would be practically impossible.
Furthermore if this is true of the Vatican shouldnt all of the worlds museums follow suit in selling everything? And if not, why not?
BECAUSE MUSEUMS ARE A BUSINESS! Unless the vatican admits that it is a business that has misused the name of jesus christ to make money for its leaders, then they need to not be hypocrites and sell off all their treasures!
It was not founded by jesus. Try reading a book or two. It founded by paul. A man who was not even there when jesus was alive. He did the best he could, but he never did get it right. Oh, yeah, it was also founded by peter, the disciple who jesus reprimanded more than once for not understanding his mission.
so you admit it was founded by peter? the SAME peter JESUS CHRIST himself says "you are peter and upon this rock I will build MY CHURCH????" so in other words to accept the Catholic Church was founded by Peter is to accept that this must be JESUS' CHURCH!! don't believe it? well ask Jesus!!! He says so himself!!! or do you not believe the words in the bible?
Mattew 16:18 is the verse I was referring to... perhaps you should try reading actual first hand historical sources. Apparently the "books" you've been reading fail to grasp the blatantly obvious. Or perhaps even read an encyclopedia.. It's a historical FACT that this Catholic Church was the FIRST Church and therefore it HAD to be the Church Jesus was speaking of when he founded HIS Church in this verse.
I am well aware of the passage. Do not assume that I am not before making arrogant and ignorant attacks on me. FIrst of all you should know that there is actually some debate as to the correct translation of the passage that you are refering to concerning the word Petra and Petros. Also, if you were knew your scripture you would be aware that Jesus also actually repromanded Peter for not understanding his trus mission.
Also try learning about the Gnostics. The original church.
I will take each point in order... point 1 you claim there's a debate about the meaning of petra and petros as it relates to if peter was the rock jesus was actually building his church on... if there's any doubt in your mind... let's have the bible clear it up for you:
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, "So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas" which means Peter.
RSV
So here the bible CLEARLY STATES THAT PETROS MEANS CEPHAS and CEPHAS is the transliteration of the Aramaic word for ROCK not stone.... so no there's no debate unless you want to debate with the plain words of scripture or the plain words of Jesus Christ...
so in other words Jesus was clearly saying, you are Cephas and on this Cephas I will build my Church.... or you are rock and on this rock i will build my church... he didn't use the word petra because that word is in the feminine form... that's like calling him rockena instead of rocky or calling me carla instead of carlos... but the actual meaning is clear PETROS MEANS CEPHAS according to the bible itself so yes, PETER WAS THE ROCK Jesus was building his church upon
Peter was reprimanded many times as were other apostles, duh they're human just like anyone else, are you saying that makes you doubt the plain words of Jesus as to what he is promising about Peter? Did you also doubt when the bible claims he walked on water? did you also doubt when it says he cured the sick? If God can turn water into wine why do you fail to believe he can turn an ordinary man into the foundation of the Church?
So you are admitting that peter was capable of making mistakes. ok, then we agree. when or if jesus ever called him the rock of the movement it was an expression of optimism because of peters positive disposition. Too bad peter messed it up
he did not tell peter whatever he says or does will be perfect, all humans are fallible in that sense and for all I know every pope ever lived could have went to hell, that has nothing to do with the one thing Jesus did promise, not that he would not sin or make mistakes, but that "whatever he BINDS on earth will be bound in heaven" and thats just what Catholics teach, only Dogmas taught excathedra are considered to be infallable, not just any teaching and not just any opinion about anything
you can say I'm wrong all you like, my point is that encyclopedias explicitly say that this is a fact. Find me where an encyclopedia states that gnosticism was the first church founded by Jesus himself and maybe you'll be on to something.
tell that to microsoft because it's in their encarta encyclopedia that you're wrong, tell it to the funk & wagnals encyclopedia as well, heck you should sue them for disparaging your belief system without historical merit for millions if you think you are smarter than all these historians because you want to believe you are privy to some "secret knowledge" "I got my secret knowledge from aliens and my crystal ball who cares how illogical that is I just want to believe I'm special"
There's about a zillion more encyclopedia articles I could quote you if that's not enough, sorry but I think it's you who's the uninformed one... or how about this:
Honestly there's so much historical data I could write you a book... You're clearly in the minority as it relates to your opinion about the history of Christianity... you quote me a completely flawed argument about the greek and then you assert something contrary to the plain words of an endlist list of encyclopedias??? do you believe in unicorns as well? because clearly you're in the business of believing in things that have no evidence to support it...
A judeo-chrisrian accusing me of believing in something that i have no evidence to support!!! ARE YOU KIDDING? Since when has your kind needed evidence? At least be consistent with your beliefs. By the way, what is your evidence for talking snakes?
as a Catholic I am not BOUND to believe in any talking snakes. that verse has never been officially translated in an Infallable manner so currently the possibility that this is a a symbolic metaphor is absolutely within the confines of my belief system as an acceptable thing to believe, in fact the there are very few things about that story that the church has taught is literal, for example, I am a good Catholic and at the same time believe in the theory of evolution.
OR maybe you'd like a little history lesson... you know Pope clement??? the man THE BIBLE mentions as having his name written in the book of life???? Phil 4:3
for they have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
RSV
... well he later became the fourth pope of the Catholic Church.... argue with him because the bible clearly says he's going to heaven...
Another judeo christian referring to the bible as if it wasnt written compiled and edited by man. You are another programmed drone. Sorry, but I have no respect for that.
men for sure, but men under the guidance of the holy spirit? Just like I believe the Pope is when he teaches ex-cathedra because I believe Jesus' promise? Dont respect what the apostles taught then... John 13:20
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me."
RSV what's the matter? don't accept Peter? then you don't receive the our father in heaven either according to this verse..
"Accept our counsel and you will have nothing to regret. . . . If anyone disobey the things which have been said by him [God] through us [i.e., that you must reinstate your leaders], let them know that they will involve themselves in transgression and in no small danger. . . . You will afford us joy and gladness if being obedient to the things which we have written through the Holy Spirit (Letter to the Corinthians 1, 5859, 63 [A.D. 80]).
Yeah... don't blink Pope clement, which the bible says is going to heaven was clearly wielding authority OVER the church in the CORINTHIANS yeah as in the church the books in the bible are named after!!! CLEARLY the Church in the Corinthians was CATHOLIC then!! they submitted to the teachings of Pope Clement the first!! and you're telling me the Gnostic Church predates that???
I really dont think that you are ready to know about the gnostics. there is a reason why the mystic tradition had to be kept amongst the intitiated. Because as jesus himself said, do not give pearls to the swine.
Now don't get me wrong... the pagan, unchristian influences that Gnosticism contains may have predated Christianity... But the religion Jesus Christ was the author of had nothing to do with this!!! the religion Jesus founded was plainly founded upon Peter, and Peter was the first Pope of the Catholic Church PERIOD
Gnosticism just wasnt all pagan. it was christian. of course, the roman councils stamped it out through the use of violent force. Ruthless bloodshed that jesus himself would have condemed.
sure it wasn't ALL pagan but the whole "secret knowledge" BS and many of its influences are pagan and predate Jesus... they mixed it with Christianity when Jesus came along is all I'd quote you some encyclopedia articles but oh yeah, you wont accept historical consensus becuase you are the anti-intellectualist... you remind me of those people who deny belief in the theory of evolution and such just to hold on to their "precious" belief system :P
That is quite possibley the most arrogant, ignorant, and hypocritical statement I think that I have ever heard a judeo-Christian say, and believe me, i have heard alot.
Its only hypocritical if you can show me where my belief system goes AGAINST the evidence...what kind of evidence have you even shown me?? your misinterpretation of a greek work I blew out of the water vs. my first hand ancient historical sources and encyclopedia articles? I've been showing you evidence... all you list is opinion based on no single piece of evidence I haven't already contended with. you're giving thumbs downs to encyclopedia articles and ancient historical word for word quotes?
Obviously you're the one who cant deal with the plain facts and evidence if you have to reject the plain words of encyclopedias and ancient historical documents. What historical data have you even attempted to list as evidence for your beliefs??? I've only begun to scratch the surface as far as the evidence I have and you haven't even responded to that so far. I took note you were proud you read a "book" on the subject, maybe you should read more.
the fact of the matter is that all the "gnostic" writings ever found are dated much later than the earliest christian sources, and those are Catholic. You have Pope clement writing in 80 A.D. and The book of Mark which shows Jesus building his church upon Peter is widely considered the OLDEST Christian manuscript... how do you beat that??? heretical documents written 2 and 3 hundred years after Jesus just don't cut it.
the nag hamadi scriptures - and gnosticism wasn't christian, and it certainly predated christianity- but that it is were christianity plagiarized many of its concepts- the story of genesis in the nag hamadi bible contains characters named adam and eve as well- coincidence?
you missed the entire point, I used the term "christian gnosticism" to identify the specific forms of gnosticism that claimed to have Jesus as their author. I specifically and intentionally used this term because I am well aware that some forms of gnosticism predate Christianity, however those forms don't claim Jesus is their author.
The argument I was making was that IF Jesus is God then it can be shown that Catholicism is the correct belief system because Catholicism can be shown to have been founded by Jesus since no gnostic (or any other sect for that matter) writings or historical sources claiming Jesus as their inspiration/author predate the Catholic sources. I can find a ton of sources of historical documents that predate Jesus, that means nothing when trying to prove your religion had Jesus as it's author.
in other words you need to come up with Gnostic writings pertaining to Jesus that predate the Catholic sources pertaining to Jesus. thus the term "christian gnosticism" as in those who believed jesus was the "christ" or "messiah". Without those sources my point is proven. what you have offered has nothing to do with what we're talking about
and as far as the whole adam and eve thing... Orthodox Judaism predates the Nag Hamadi AND Christianity... since both are offshoots of Judiasm I see no "coincidence" in that and find it rather funny that you think this proves anything. Any Christian will gladly tell you that their religion is VERY Jewish in it's roots. The whole entire story about why we need a Messiah comes from Judaism in the first place. It's called the JEWISH book of Genesis not the "nag hammadi bible" where we get this from
Instead of reading a book written now attempting to explain something that happened 2000 years ago try reading the most ancient history of Christianity ever written... it's called Eusebius Church History. It predates even the cannon of scripture itself. maybe that will straighten you out... OBVIOUSLY people who actually lived in ancient times have a better understanding of the history of Christianity than whoever it was who wrote your silly book. :P
"Was anything withheld from the knowledge of Peter, who is called the rock on which the Church would be built [Matt. 16:18] with the power of loosing and binding in heaven and on earth [Matt. 16:19]?" (Demurrer Against the Heretics 22 [A.D. 200]).
"[T]he Lord said to Peter, On this rock I will build my Church, I have given you the keys of the kingdom of heaven [and] whatever you shall have bound or loosed on earth will be bound or loosed in heaven [Matt. 16:1819]. . . . What kind of man are you, subverting and changing what was the manifest intent of the Lord when he conferred this personally upon Peter? Upon you, he says, I will build my Church; and I will give to you the keys" (Modesty 21:910 [A.D. 220]).
So as you admit, Peter was Catholic, Paul was Catholic... and obviously anyone who accepted their teachings was Catholic... that includes all the Churches written to in the BIBLE The Corinthians, Romans, Phillipians, Galatians... You name it!!! in fact the two biggest leaders of all the apostles were PETER AND PAUL!!! and no doubt every other apostle that took heed of their opinion was Catholic also... who does that leave you to claim as a gnostic??? Judas??
"It is possible, then, for everyone in every church, who may wish to know the truth, to contemplate the tradition of the apostles which has been made known throughout the whole world. And we are in a position to enumerate those who were instituted bishops by the apostles and their successors to our own times—men who neither knew nor taught anything like these heretics rave about.
"we shall confound all those who, in whatever manner, whether through self-satisfaction or vainglory, or through blindness and wicked opinion, assemble other than where it is proper,...
by pointing out here the successions of the bishops of the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul, that church which has the tradition and the faith which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles.
"With this church, because of its superior origin, all churches must agree—that is, all the faithful in the whole world—and it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition" (ibid., 3:3:12).
i dare you to read a book called the Dark Side of Christianity. Perhaps try reading something that wasnt prescriped by your sunday school teacher or an encylopedia that is influenced by the dominating common mistaken perspective. You people like the encyclopedias when they agree with you right, but rip out the section on evolution. Selective discernment is not very respectible.
sorry... like i said I fully believe in the theory of evolution.... it is fully compatible with the our belief system and compatible with the Church's interpretation of the creation accounts. You are confusing our beliefs with that of many protestants, we are not anti-intellectualists
I have read MANY works that are, anti christian anti theistic, anti catholic, I am very well informed on much of this, in fact I could defend Catholicism against a Muslim, protestant, hindu, you name it. why? because I considered all of these viewpoints before deciding to become a Catholic and the plain unbiased fact is that there are mountains of evidence backing up my position that you are going to have to contend with if you are going to pretend Catholicism is not the true religion

ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, the largest single Christian body, composed of those Christians who acknowledge the supreme authority of the bishop of Rome, the pope, in matters of faith. The word catholic (Gr. katholikos) means "universal" and has been used to designate the church since its earliest period, when it was the only Christian church. tell that to microsoft because it's in their encarta encyclopedia that you're wrong, tell it to the funk & wagnals encyclopedia as well, heck you should sue them for disparaging your belief system without historical merit for millions if you think you are smarter than all these historians because you want to believe you are privy to some "secret knowledge" "I got my secret knowledge from aliens and my crystal ball who cares how illogical that is I just want to believe I'm special"
carlcproductions 2 years ago
There's about a zillion more encyclopedia articles I could quote you if that's not enough, sorry but I think it's you who's the uninformed one... or how about this:
"Roman Catholic authority rests upon a mandate that is traced to the action of Jesus Christ himself, when he invested Peter and, through Peter, his successors with the power of the keys in the church. Christ is the invisible head of his church, and by his authority the pope is the visible head." (Encyclopedia Britannica ©1999)
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Honestly there's so much historical data I could write you a book... You're clearly in the minority as it relates to your opinion about the history of Christianity... you quote me a completely flawed argument about the greek and then you assert something contrary to the plain words of an endlist list of encyclopedias??? do you believe in unicorns as well? because clearly you're in the business of believing in things that have no evidence to support it...
carlcproductions 2 years ago
A judeo-chrisrian accusing me of believing in something that i have no evidence to support!!! ARE YOU KIDDING? Since when has your kind needed evidence? At least be consistent with your beliefs. By the way, what is your evidence for talking snakes?
novoneiro 2 years ago
as a Catholic I am not BOUND to believe in any talking snakes. that verse has never been officially translated in an Infallable manner so currently the possibility that this is a a symbolic metaphor is absolutely within the confines of my belief system as an acceptable thing to believe, in fact the there are very few things about that story that the church has taught is literal, for example, I am a good Catholic and at the same time believe in the theory of evolution.
carlcproductions 2 years ago
OR maybe you'd like a little history lesson... you know Pope clement??? the man THE BIBLE mentions as having his name written in the book of life???? Phil 4:3
for they have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
RSV
... well he later became the fourth pope of the Catholic Church.... argue with him because the bible clearly says he's going to heaven...
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Another judeo christian referring to the bible as if it wasnt written compiled and edited by man. You are another programmed drone. Sorry, but I have no respect for that.
novoneiro 2 years ago
men for sure, but men under the guidance of the holy spirit? Just like I believe the Pope is when he teaches ex-cathedra because I believe Jesus' promise? Dont respect what the apostles taught then... John 13:20
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me."
RSV what's the matter? don't accept Peter? then you don't receive the our father in heaven either according to this verse..
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Pope Clement I
"Accept our counsel and you will have nothing to regret. . . 80]).
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Yeah... don't blink Pope clement, which the bible says is going to heaven was clearly wielding authority OVER the church in the CORINTHIANS yeah as in the church the books in the bible are named after!!! CLEARLY the Church in the Corinthians was CATHOLIC then!! they submitted to the teachings of Pope Clement the first!! and you're telling me the Gnostic Church predates that???
carlcproductions 2 years ago
I really dont think that you are ready to know about the gnostics. there is a reason why the mystic tradition had to be kept amongst the intitiated. Because as jesus himself said, do not give pearls to the swine.
novoneiro 2 years ago
yes, but the problem is all the evidence is pointing right now to the fact that it is I who have the pearls and you who are the swine
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Now don't get me wrong... the pagan, unchristian influences that Gnosticism contains may have predated Christianity... But the religion Jesus Christ was the author of had nothing to do with this!!! the religion Jesus founded was plainly founded upon Peter, and Peter was the first Pope of the Catholic Church PERIOD
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Gnosticism just wasnt all pagan. it was christian. of course, the roman councils stamped it out through the use of violent force. Ruthless bloodshed that jesus himself would have condemed.
novoneiro 2 years ago
sure it wasn't ALL pagan but the whole "secret knowledge" BS and many of its influences are pagan and predate Jesus... they mixed it with Christianity when Jesus came along is all I'd quote you some encyclopedia articles but oh yeah, you wont accept historical consensus becuase you are the anti-intellectualist... you remind me of those people who deny belief in the theory of evolution and such just to hold on to their "precious" belief system :P
carlcproductions 2 years ago
That is quite possibley the most arrogant, ignorant, and hypocritical statement I think that I have ever heard a judeo-Christian say, and believe me, i have heard alot.
novoneiro 2 years ago
Its only hypocritical if you can show me where my belief system goes AGAINST the evidence...what kind of evidence have you even shown me?? your misinterpretation of a greek work I blew out of the water vs. my first hand ancient historical sources and encyclopedia articles? I've been showing you evidence... all you list is opinion based on no single piece of evidence I haven't already contended with. you're giving thumbs downs to encyclopedia articles and ancient historical word for word quotes?
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Obviously you're the one who cant deal with the plain facts and evidence if you have to reject the plain words of encyclopedias and ancient historical documents. What historical data have you even attempted to list as evidence for your beliefs??? I've only begun to scratch the surface as far as the evidence I have and you haven't even responded to that so far. I took note you were proud you read a "book" on the subject, maybe you should read more.
carlcproductions 2 years ago
the fact of the matter is that all the "gnostic" writings ever found are dated much later than the earliest christian sources, and those are Catholic. You have Pope clement writing in 80 A.D. and The book of Mark which shows Jesus building his church upon Peter is widely considered the OLDEST Christian manuscript... how do you beat that??? heretical documents written 2 and 3 hundred years after Jesus just don't cut it.
carlcproductions 2 years ago
you say Christian gnosticism predates Catholicism then prove it, where are your ancient historical sources?
carlcproductions 2 years ago
the nag hamadi scriptures - and gnosticism wasn't christian, and it certainly predated christianity- but that it is were christianity plagiarized many of its concepts- the story of genesis in the nag hamadi bible contains characters named adam and eve as well- coincidence?
xtr3mist 2 years ago
you missed the entire point, I used the term "christian gnosticism" to identify the specific forms of gnosticism that claimed to have Jesus as their author. I specifically and intentionally used this term because I am well aware that some forms of gnosticism predate Christianity, however those forms don't claim Jesus is their author.
carlcproductions 2 years ago
The argument I was making was that IF Jesus is God then it can be shown that Catholicism is the correct belief system because Catholicism can be shown to have been founded by Jesus since no gnostic (or any other sect for that matter) writings or historical sources claiming Jesus as their inspiration/author predate the Catholic sources. I can find a ton of sources of historical documents that predate Jesus, that means nothing when trying to prove your religion had Jesus as it's author.
carlcproductions 2 years ago
in other words you need to come up with Gnostic writings pertaining to Jesus that predate the Catholic sources pertaining to Jesus. thus the term "christian gnosticism" as in those who believed jesus was the "christ" or "messiah". Without those sources my point is proven. what you have offered has nothing to do with what we're talking about
carlcproductions 2 years ago
and as far as the whole adam and eve thing... It's called the JEWISH book of Genesis not the "nag hammadi bible" where we get this from
carlcproductions 2 years ago
Instead of reading a book written now attempting to explain something that happened 2000 years ago try reading the most ancient history of Christianity ever written... it's called Eusebius Church History. It predates even the cannon of scripture itself. maybe that will straighten you out... OBVIOUSLY people who actually lived in ancient times have a better understanding of the history of Christianity than whoever it was who wrote your silly book. :P

Tertullian
"Was anything withheld from the knowledge of Peter, who is called the rock on which the Church would be built [Matt. 16:18] with the power of loosing and binding in heaven and on earth [Matt. 16:19]?" (Demurrer Against the Heretics 22 [A.D. 200]).

Tertullian
"[T]he Lord said to Peter, On this rock I will build my Church, I have given you the keys of the kingdom of heaven [and] whatever you shall have bound or loosed on earth will be bound or loosed in heaven [Matt. 16:1819]. . . . What kind of man are you, subverting and changing what was the manifest intent of the Lord when he conferred this personally upon Peter? Upon you, he says, I will build my Church; and I will give to you the keys" (Modesty 21:910 [A.D. 220]).
carlcproductions 2 years ago
So as you admit, Peter was Catholic, Paul was Catholic... and obviously anyone who accepted their teachings was Catholic... that includes all the Churches written to in the BIBLE The Corinthians, Romans, Phillipians, Galatians... You name it!!! in fact the two biggest leaders of all the apostles were PETER AND PAUL!!! and no doubt every other apostle that took heed of their opinion was Catholic also... who does that leave you to claim as a gnostic??? Judas??

Irenaeus
(Against Heresies [A.D. 189]).

Irenaeus
(Against Heresies 1:10:2 [A.D. 189]).

Selective discernment is not very respectible.
novoneiro 2 years ago
sorry... like i said I fully believe in the theory of evolution.... it is fully compatible with the our belief system and compatible with the Church's interpretation of the creation accounts. You are confusing our beliefs with that of many protestants, we are not anti-intellectualists
carlcproductions 2 years ago
I have read MANY works that are, anti christian anti theistic, anti catholic, I am very well informed on much of this, in fact I could defend Catholicism against a Muslim, protestant, hindu, you name it. why? because I considered all of these viewpoints before deciding to become a Catholic and the plain unbiased fact is that there are mountains of evidence backing up my position that you are going to have to contend with if you are going to pretend Catholicism is not the true religion
