  • @Savage7046 You need to get Red Orchestra Ostfront to play it.

    It's a very good game, and worth it. It has a server-full of players all day.

  • @imaoldkidnow You technically can if you are on the same team as the operator. You also have to be a mortar operator yourself, which kind of defeats the purpose of it. Just so you know. ;)

    or if the team dies and respawns and the allies/axis team suddenly has multiple mortar teams lol

  • nice work but in online gaming it is hard to have coordination with anybody rendering the mortar useless using smoke round on a visable target i have yet to be killed by a mortar or get a kill with a mortar

  • why would someone carrying a mortar barrel not be able to sprint? we had to sprint long distances with that shit lol

  • Most of people can't even hit any targets, and have 0 score and end of game.

  • @cmbasnett yesterday I played and for first time hit several targets! Got around 20 score. I had a good spotter too. (on a 29th server)

  • Just an update for tank nuts IMO. DH days are over until RO2 when it releases in 15years

  • @1939dannyboy The tanking aspect has seen a large improvement, yes but infantry combat has been changed and improved in many ways, including the addition of mortars. There is a hot-fix coming in the next couple of weeks that is fixing the issue of excessive weapon drops and some fixes and improvements to many of the newer maps to alleviate players becoming lost or bored in them. We listen to all feedback so long as it is constructive, so stay tuned, we're not done yet. :)

  • Love this game but you ruied a few things. German weapon kits are pretty dull now. The lose the weapon thing every time your hit in the arms/hands/shoulders really make it impossible to bayonet or melee unless you get the drop on them (which dosent happen often to begin with on most CQC maps. HUGE MAPS...they just suck. If servers could hold more along the lines of 60 PER SIDE I can see big maps being fun. But as it is CA maps that big just suck playing as infantry.

  • i love the realism. but i dont know why they have to make the game so difficult.

    and then theres some of these huge map that just scare away new players and even frustrate me. i just played osme hugh tank map that was hidious.

    i think the maps need to be a lil smaller than these hugh maps to get more firefights going in specificly important places. but thats just my opinion.

    love the fact that mortars have been added :)

  • I find it annoying that they didn't simply make it so that when a mortar operator marks a target distance it will tell him the exact elevation and traverse needed to successfully bombard that area, which information would then be relayed to the mortar man to input into his mortar by properly adjusting it to said information.

    But no, they went about making it extremely difficult where both players will have to slowly approximate distance in gameplay meters, a feat that PUGs will be terrible at.

  • Are the explosion radiuses any different for the allies vs axis shells? Soz if this has already been asked...sure it must have been.

  • @Triple25mm There is high explosive ammunition and smoke ammunition. The ratio of high explosion to smoke ammunition is 6:1 for the Allies and 4:1 for the Axis. Because the Allied 60mm mortar has lighter rounds, the mortar operator can carry more than a German mortar operator.

    Allied mortar operators can carry 24 high explosive rounds and 4 smoke rounds. German mortar operators can carry 16 high explosive rounds and 4 smoke rounds.

  • @NitroNein The mortar target will show up on everyone's map, but only mortar operators and observers will receive a pop-up message as seen in the video. The mortar operators and observers will also be the only ones able to see the hit locations.

  • @Gjldo Dog Green has been adjusted in many ways. For example, German 'random' battery fire has been removed in all places except the water on the approach. In addition, the Germans can no longer call artillery in. They no longer receive the STG 44 or the Panzerschreck and the Americans will find more cover on the beach. Also tied in with this is a change in how smoke is distributed amongst team members so there will no longer be such a heavy reliance on one player to deploy smoke screens.

  • Amazing work gentlemen.  My only question is why is the ranges on the mortars so limited?

    The ranges were limited to the lightest charges largely because of the close engagement range of most of the current scenarios. Even at the current charge settings the 60mm mortar can drop a round from one side of most maps to the other.

    To place it in perspective, the rounds being fired at the gun-pit in the above video were at an elevation angle of approx. 84°, meaning nearly the shortest range possible for the M2 mortar.

    I'd hardly call it a waste of time. We are proud to have worked this hard to get it to our community, and as long as it's enjoyed then it was well worth it.

  • @yelton7 It's not waste at all cause mortars will make this mod so much better. DH is much better then RO due to it's dev team who makes these things.
