  • hey i hav same camera, i would like to know if change of lens will give nicer quality...if yes which lens would be gd for this camera plz tell me

  • does it record video?

  • @glosarity all canons record video.

  • Great Camera for beginner :)

  • Lens cap FAIL :)

  • You are quite literally the worst camera reviewer I have witnessed on YouTube. I feel like someone needs to rescue that poor camera from you.

  • hey mate. are you from australia? how much did this cost you? ps rookie error haha :D

  • I was just wondering if someone could tell me if this camera is practical for taking concert photos? particularly from far away distances at night. If this camera isnt suitable for that what camera would someone suggest?? I was thinking of a olympus sp-565 coz of the 20X zoom but Im not sure if the band Im taking photos of would come out as clearly as a SLR camera. Suggestions or tips anyone please??

  • you gonna need extra flash for concert pictures regardless of camera model, unless theres plenty of light at the concert, then yes, this camera is good

  • I had this camera for some time now and it is exclent. Its worth buying : )

  • haha, priceless. "Here's a tutorial on the 400d...oh shit, I forgot to take the lens cap off!"

  • buy a faster CF card, this will help u to make 3pics/sec

  • i've got an eos 400d, with the "18-55mm" lens, and i want to make a sequence skateboarding photo's. So: a lot of pictures in a couple of seconds. i only get like 5pic's now in 1 trick, and i want like 10 pictures in 1 trick.

you got some tip's for me?

  • Buy a 40D, 50D, or 1D mkIII

  • It still also depends on the time a trick takes, and when the EOS 400D description says that it has a speed of 3 fps, I don't think you can speed it up or something

  • this one vs G9, which one is better?

    anyone?

  • AUSSIE!!!

  • hey man. Do you reccommend the 75-300mm lens? I have read some reviews about it and i'm still not sure

    luke

  • I had one for my birthday and it makes a perfect

    combo with the standard lens

  • I think I'm getting one for my photography!

  • You have probably bought your lens months ago now, but dont just go on reviews, you have to try it out for your self. You havent got to stick to Canon lenses. Have a look at the Sigma or Tamron 70-300mm, its effectivly two lenses in one, a telephoto, and a super macro, they are awesome, and very cheap. For the Sigma one, you would be looking at about £160, and for the Tamron around £220. Personally I would and have gone for the Sigma one. It is built to a higer quality, and slightly smaller.

  • also tokina they are verry good in lens...

  • Comment removed

  • But not quite to the standard of Sigma

  • Get the Canon EF 50mm /1,8II, it is really good, and totaly worth the money!!!

  • throw the lens around some more.

  • lol you're right ;)

  • It´s a lens, not an egg. ;-)

  • which lence, i have to choose? to take good picture??

  • Get the 17-85 kit if you can it has more zoom and is better in low light situations,]

Its MUCH better than the 18-55.

Get a reversing ring for macro shots ,close ups.

The other lens I'd recommend is the new 70-300mm with "IS" Image stabilzation NOT the old 75-300 but these lenses are expensive. The old EF 75-300 is good for extra zoom at mid range though and relatively cheap but has to be held totally still.

  • th ef 50mm 1.4 seeems good and is affordable a ot of professional photographers use it as a gneral purpose lens

The ef 50m 1.8 is even more affordable.

  • cool great men

  • the lence cap lol

  • I disagreed. Though he didn't get to far into the details of the camera, I would rather have an amature watch this video than many other non professional review videos on Youtube. Seriously, there are some really stupid people on Youtube, and this guy isn't one.

  • Fair point... just saying it's not a satisfactory review in my opinion.

Good for laughs though, the lens cap =D

  • I have this one and it gives great shots, definitely good joice for beginners and advanced aswell

  • You've correctly put the neckstrap on. I can see that I need to redo mine, could you do a video of how to put the neckstrap on, just for a noobie like me. ;)

  • he lucky his voice is cute

  • everyone he is talking about austrailian dollars

  • Great camera, but don't by the 70 - 300mm lens, its crap. Its cheap at around $200, but in lenses you get what you pay for. Go with the 70 - 200L lenses they start off at around $550 but are much much better. I actually own the 70 - 200L f/2.8 IS and thats about $1600 but its insanely good.

  • can some one please tell me if The Canon 400D is a good SLR for beginners?? and would anyone recomend it?

  • I would sudgest to get a Sigma 70-300 apo dg Macro for your first telephoto Lens.. You can get it for around $200 as well..

I'm using it and it's way better than the 70-300 of Canon consumer lens..

  • come on man - you hardly know what you're talking about - it would be so easy to get some info, cut out embarrassing moments (cap on...)

edit edit edit before you post a load of crap...

and your recommendations - ooh! cut it out!! it's rubbish

  • Damn dude why don't you post something? WFT it did not cost you anything. Don't watch it if you dont like it. No one needs you stupid ass comments.

  • the thing is, I am just about to buy one of those - either D40, its expected successor, 400D or 450D expected in March. I was looking for info about those and just stumbled across this ambitious attempt but was disappointed with it so I just expressed my opinion - btw constructive critics, if a bit too harsh...

I have experience with 350D, 5D and some higher-end Canon 35mm EOS and some "basic" knowledge through my enthusiast friends.

  • I own a 400D and I thought it was a pretty good review...Even though I knew the features, it was a good watch and the guy knows what he's talking about.

Furthermore, "either D40, its expected successor, 400D ..."

Please explain to me why a NIKON D40 is the successor to a CANON 400D? Normally I would put this down to a simple typo, but seeing as you "have experience with 350D, 5D and some higher-end Canon 35mm EOS..." I assume you know something I don't.

Read your comment before you post moron

  • I obviously wrote it wrong - I meant expected successor for D40/D40x - the D60...

In the end I went for the 400D - thanks to release of 450D you can get some nice deals...

  • There is alot of misinformation there. It's a lens cover, not lens hood. this can confuse a newcomer of what a lend hood can be used for. It does have centred spot focusing, so thats total misinformation. Also RAW is not about blowing up photos, it is used for post processing, JPEG will provide the same size photographs. If you are going to post a video review you need to be factual so people who don't know get the right info. Plus saying Canon is better than say Nikon is not great advice.

  • i have this camera i also bought a 55-250mm one of the best beginner SLRS

  • Can we record video from this camera?

  • no you cant

  • No dSLR can record videos, although the new ones with Live-View in theory could.

  • Got this camera for christmas :D It is very easy to usee. Yet sometimes you forget you left the cap on lol

  • Cap on...hahaha

  • Everyone's done it at some point :D thankfully for me not (yet) while being filmed!

  • Oh believe me, the only reason I was laughing was cos I do it all the time!! :P

  • Hey unfortunately there isnt, sorry.

  • Hello, I own a EOS 350D and I have used it in many varied situations and it has never let me down. However I would not recommend removing the CF Memory card and Battery pack with the camera power switch on,as shown in this video, if you do you will erase all recent photos on the card and may damage internal sensor.

  • i am getting this camera (Canon Eos 400D), and what you have said is some really good advice, cheers. I was also wondering why in this and other videos they take the card and battery out whilst the camera is still on. Tnaks again

    -Lordmarkoss

  • The 400D has a kill switch in the CF door so when you open it up it cuts the power to prevent damage. Watch when he opens the door, you will see the LCD screen switch off. Of course if you have just taken a photo and it hasn't finished saving you will lose that photo.

  • thanks, i was thinking of getting a canon.

now i know which one to get!

  • If you are looking to upgrade to a high quality professioanl looking Camera, but don't have £1000's to spend on some of the bigger brothers, the Canon has everything you could need! The video review is good but doesn't do this Camera justice, it really is brilliant!I got a fairly good deal from Curry's (UK) which included the camera body and standard 18-55mm EFS lens,

an extra 90-300mm telephoto lens, the Sunpak PF30X flash gun and a 1GB Lexar CF card for £648 GBP.

  • I got the Canon after using a Fujifilm Finepix S5600 for the past 12 months. The S5600 is an good piece of kit and a great intro into some more advanced camera techniques, the Canon is phenomenal. The image quality you get from the 10.1MP is excellent even when using a high ISO setting. The range of depth generated by adjusting the aperture produces some fantastic results. This video review is good but doesn't do it justice.

  • Great review, I'm waiting for mine to arrive and now I know I made the right choice. thanks.

  • Very useful. I'm getting one. Thanks!

  • Everyone can write everything. There are bullshits! This is an exelent camera!...

  • great review.thanks! it helped a lot.

  • the canon eos 400d, and d80 arent in the same league, the d80 has a larger field of view and is not made of cheap japanese plastic.

  • im not saying the d80 is a worse camera, ur right its in a different league, i just dont reckon its worth the money...

  • Hi!

I've read on some forum that kit lense has problems with stabilisation and many pictures shot from hands comes out smudged. What can you say about it - is it real problem?

  • Hi, i have never heard of this problem, and have not experienced either of them, so i guess its something not to worry about...

  • Put it in Tv mode to keep shutter speed fast. Or use a tripod.

  • Fast shutter means no much light coming in in dark places. Tripod is good but some pictures are made on the fly - tripod is not in my pocket all the time))))

  • Cool review. Funny when you left the cap on, I do that alot :)

  • One of the best review for EOS 400D.

  • Helpful thanks.

  • this dude knows what he's talking about. strongly considering getting this as my second camera.

  • The Canon's 18-55mm lens is awesome. Just because it comes with it, doesn't mean its rubbish ;)

  • It's not rubbish, but it's not great either, and yes it is because it's thrown in with the camera.

  • hey i have a question : to make a photo you have to lok throught that small window on the top of the cmera or there's a feature like in compact digital that i can see the picture i'm taking on the lcd ?

  • The canons a digital SLR, so u gotta look through the view finder, u cant live view on the lcd

  • All the way from Brooklyn, NY thanks a lot for the review ,I my self was stuck on a Canon 400d or a Nikon D40X - I'm running with the Canon and your right, they do offer a wider range in lens.

  • Nice Video. Austrailian, that makes u a good person in my books. Keep up with the video. I am also looking to buy my first DSLR and i am tempted more towards the 400d than the d40x. thanks to this review, im almost certain to get a 400d, Thnks mate, do a new video soon

  • 5 stars! I've featured you at DigitalCameraVideoReviews com

  • Thanks for the review Alex! I'm looking into buying my first DSLR and can't choose between the 400D or Nikon's D40x. I here the kit lens with the canon isn't all that great quality wise - i'd be greatfull for any advice or comments on your experiences using the 400D with its kit lense. Tanks alot, Tom.

  • Oh I'm in the same boat! Now I'm leaning towards the Canon. Decisions!

  • To be honest I dont really find with the photogrpahs I take that the lenses really affect the quality, I think that if its just for ameteur photography that they would be fine. The nikon does offer much better lense quality, but again as i said, you always have the option to upgrade the lenses for the cannon, whereas the Nikon while it offers a better lense initially, doesnt have the wide variety of lenses that Canon does, nor does the nikons lenses beat the price of the canon.

  • same as me a couldnt choose between the two.now iam sold iam getting the EOS 400D.

  • What made you decide to go for the 400d?

  • I think its better built than other DSLR's at that price.

  • basically the lense range was the main reason, but also its a pretty decent price compared to the nikons, and i wasnt willing to spend 2k on the D80, i didnt really think it was worth the money.
