The reason being is Bram Stoker never mentioned if the knife was holy or not, so Kohta Hirano took that and deviated it into his own thing at the end sequence. Now Dracula ( Alucard ) works for his family, instead of being dead like in the original novel.

I guess this defeat as the evil Count Dracula opened his eyes. Having been bested by Van Helsing, he has been humbled somewhat. His perception of "Man" changed in this defeat. I guess that is why since then, he became Alucard. The deliberate backwards spelling of Dracula serves to symbolically represent his complete turn around in attitude and the first important step towards redemption. I think this would be great for my literature mini presentation. "Literature in Graphic Novels" =p

You know...in the origional dracula book by bram stoker... Dracula was stabbed thruogh the heart with a knife... by Abrahams friend... Hellsing plays on the theory that, because it was a unblessed knife... dracula was never killed.

No, this is the dream Alucard has of when Hellsing, as in the man who killed Dracula, defeated him so long ago.
It's why Alucard only respects humans who push on in impossible odds, not a respect that is kind, but he doesn't look down on them so much.
Reading the manga explains this so much better.

@TheShinigamiZ It's not Demon Anderson, the Nail of Helena is sacred and was blessed by Christ. He turned into a monster of God and Alucard ripped his heart out. Anderson's death was caused by Alucard, Walter stepped on his remains.

Yes, Van Helsing bests Alucard ( known as Dracula then, lmao ) and forces him ( or so it's believed to be forced, no one knows if he went willingly or not ) into servitude for the Helsing / Hellsing family.

actually alucard is dracula's son. lisa was his human mother, and dracula was his vampire father.. he goes against he's dad for some reason, can't remember since its been a while but anyways he's not dracula :P

Alucard respects this, too, as a strength he lost as a human. He couldn't live as a human anymore and gave up. That's why he won't allow himself to be killed by anything other than a human being. He thought humans were weak, and Abraham proved him wrong. He lives in regret.
That's also why he hates these artificial vampires. Humans overcome by greed, wanting power and trading away their humanity for a false sense of immortality and pointless pleasure. They sicken him.

"anybody can defeat Alucard" ? Try more like "near nobody", Alucard wasn't as strong as he is now as he was in the past. He didn't kill Alucard, he just bested him and forced him into servitude to the Hellsing family, then did expirements on him for one hundred years ( the family, that is. Van Helsing would be long dead. )

You know...in the origional dracula book by bram stoker... Dracula was stabbed thruogh the heart with a knife... by Abrahams friend... Hellsing plays on the theory that, because it was a unblessed knife... dracula was never killed.

yah it is a pentagram but the symbols on the glove are still significant in the seal, you can probably vaguely tell that it says the same thing on the Hellsing seal lol like "Gott Mit Uns" which means God With Us and "Hells Gates Arrested" I just dont think that should be on his glove.....maybe he found it, or stole it...lol

ahhh i see now, i knew about the hell gate arrested part but not the other part....... its possible that it could be an error, but don forget integras dad did have him in the cellar and could of started the orginization while using the stuff on his gloves as a base for their insignia...... not to mention that the suck if that is an editing error lol soley because his gloves are white as hell and anyone should've or would've spotted it/them

This was also an OVA which took a helluva long time to make so they probably didn't notice it, and noone pointed it out to them. But of course you could be right with the symbol on his glove being the original that the Hellsing group used for their seal...

Alucard's probably the closest thing to immortal. This didn't even kill him, it just put him in a small dormant state to where as Van Helsing made him serve the Hellsing family. xP
