I've had the oppurtunity recently to use Internet Explorer 10 in that Windows 8 preview. I think it's great and they finally brought spell check and auto-correct to IE10. In fact, the auto-correct in IE10 is better than the one in iOS which we all know can result in really weird messages. I think Microsoft has a bright future ahead of it.
If they were to charge for Internet Explorer 9, I'd probably buy it because it's so amazing! It works perfectly on both Windows Vista and 7. Just a quick note, Vista wasn't all that bad. I had no complaints about Vista. I don't see where people are coming from with all their criticisms about Vista. It's a solid OS that changed the future of Windows forever. Anyways, I'm excited to see what's coming next in Internet Explorer 10 which is already in development!
The most beautiful web browser I've ever used! Esp. when you pin sites to the Windows 7 taskbar, they open with colours used in the website! Also, the sites like facebook, twitter, windows blog, bing etc. pinned on the taskbar have jump lists! Try it! Super awesome! Just waiting for some speed improvements.....
After IE8 proved to be not that great, I switched to Google Chrome. But now with IE9, I switched back right away! I love IE9. The only thing I would like to see is a built in spell checker like the one in Google Chrome.
@applefox77 Thanks for your feedback. If you'd like to leave your suggestion for the IE9 development team, press ALT + X from within IE9 and choose 'Send Feedback". Thanks for using IE9 beta!
@internetexplorer Microsoft is still deliberately holding back the web platform.
IE9 has no web sockets (networking), WebGL (3D), web workers (threading/multiprocess), open web font support, or Ogg Theora.
They left out a lot of key features supported by Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Not because Microsoft can't implement 3d or networking or threading, but because those are features that complete the web platform and the web platform directly competes with the Windows monopoly.
Microsoft definitely had a rough few years between 04-early 09ish but I think there finally making a come back. I mean look at what they are doing now, Zune is doing well, Xbox is doing amazing, Bing is gaining(slowly but surely) on Google, Windows 7 is gaining people back after the shit that was Vista, and Windows phone 7 looks cool. Overall the future looks bright for not just Microsoft but technology and software as a whole.
Exactly dude we need competition in every sector so no one starts sleeping... noot either Apple , Microsoft or Sony competition is good fanboys should love it witouth competition we would be now in IE1.
@FullDarkGear I agree with you except for the thing about Windows Vista. In my personal opinion, I think Windows Vista is one of Microsoft's best operating systems. This is mainly because of the apps that come bundled with Vista such as Windows Movie Maker. The Windows Vista edition had amazing features. Unfortunately, that was all taken out in Windows 7. Also, I kind of prefer the traditional windows taskbar that Vista has. Overall, Vista is my favorite OS that Microsoft has ever produced.
@Generalkidd Windows 7 has windows movie maker and those apps you speak of along with many other cool features.
In my opinion Vista wasn't bad (had it for 2 1/2 years) and selling 300 million+ units definitely says something on its part. I was just reflecting the general consensus of thought that people had on the software and I didn't mean to offend.
@FullDarkGear Windows 7 has Windows Live Movie Maker which isn't as good as the version of Movie Maker that came with Windows Vista. The Windows Vista version had features that no other version of Movie Maker had. In fact, all those Windows 7 apps have to be downloaded and installed seperately as part of Windows Live Essentials. The game Inkball (really fun) was also removed in Windows 7. Windows 7 is more of a slim version of Vista.
@FullDarkGear I agree with you except for the thing about Windows Vista. In my personal opinion, I think Windows Vista is one of Microsoft's best operating systems. It had so many features that were awesome. While Vista is the same as 7 in many ways, Vista still had features important to me that 7 doesn't have.
Flash is more than just a plugin, Adobe could make their Flash platform target HTML5 instead of the plugin. They don't sell the plugin anyway, they sell the tools.
I can't wait for HTML5 to settle into the web. It will replace flash for lots of things. However, flash isn't going anywhere yet. I can't wait for HTML5 Facebook games.
this thing seems to kick ass..
