There can only be one theme for BBC F1 2009 and that is Knights of cydonia by Muse, just listen to it with some F1 footage, i swear all the others will pale into insignificance! Please try it!

While I do like that song, and Muse, I don't think it goes with F1 at all. Just my opinion though.

It's a cover version of Fleetwood Mac's song "The Chain" which was specially commissioned for the BBC in the 1980's. I don't know who actually performed this version though.

Quality stuff mate - I can't WAIT for F1 on the BBC. And with regards to The Chain - they played it as the intro tune for Lewis Hamilton on BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which is surely a good sign...

Best one i've seen yet. The Chain SHOULD be used, iconic images from F1 history SHOULD be used. Perhaps a little too much Hamilton at the end. There are other new and exciting drivers on the grid to shout about as well as him.

Steve Rider most likely won't make the switch from ITV to BBC, as BBC looks to re-invent Formula One coverage. Mark Blundell, well, with David Coulthard taking a similar role next year, and rumours that only Martin Brundle will make the switch, he doesnt look likely to be with the BBC next year, unfortunetly. However, I am sure that Anthony Davidson, Eddie Jordan and Damon Hill will be regulars, at least, alongside the one n only Martin Brundle.

Nothing has officially been announced, but there is a video on YouTube and something written on a popular motoring website, claiming the team for 2009 will feature Jonathan Legard (currently an F1 commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live), Martin Brundle as co-commentator, Jake Humphrey (formerly of CBBC, now a BBC sport presenter) as main presenter, David Coulthard in a pundit-style role similar to that Mark Blundell held at ITV, and Lee McKenzie, formerly of Sky Sports, as a pit reporter.

Steve Rider is F1 to the core, and has been presenting F1 since the mid 1980's.

He left the BBC, just so he could do F1 again, but he's unlucky that it's gone back to the BBC, lol.

I have to say that this is the best of all the 2009 BBC intros on youtube - a real pleasure to watch.

I can only hope Hamilton manages to win this time, to warrant the amount that he's shown in this video!

Frankly, I don't mind if Jake Humphrey hosts the show, so long as he knows his stuff - why are people assuming that he doesn't?

Knowing this day of age in TV. There will probably be too many special effects in the title sequenece, such as what ITV do right now. Hope BBC do use the chain though. It just reminds you of F1 in the 80's and early 90's. In the days of Senna, Prost, Piquet, Mansell and Hill. It's the ultimate F1 theme

Not bad really - but I don't really like this particular version of the Chain.I hope they include a mix of clips from different eras like you have done.I hope they keep the Grand Prix name at the end - which would be more likely because there's no Grandstand nowadays.

Indeed this cover version of The Chain is very cool. It's off an Album called Visions that came out in the 80's. The album features music from movies, tv and musicals, all of which have been re recorded by an orchestra. I still have it on cassette. It might of come out on CD but i can't be certain that it actually was. So your best bet HUNDOLOS is to find it on e bay. Hope this helps.

Of all the opening title mock-ups I've seen so far on youtube, I like this one best. It's a bit long, but the clips match the music well, and the music is the proper version of "The Chain". Come on BBC, do the sensible thing and bring it back properly!
