Watch "Celebrity Ghost Stories" on YouTube. These people are not lying. The Afterlife exists.
Atheists are those who worship their own ego as their god. They worship their own selves. Most become religious before death, but when they're loving life they are not interested in God. They usually will be, especially the women, before death. The Afterlife is real.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but while I am glad you found the courage to think for yourself, but when you've been baptized as a Mormon, it means you're a Mormon for life. Even breaking away from Mormonism doesn't change that. Once baptized always baptized.
Mormon family...retarted daughter...why the fuck do you waste our time by posting these childish video? Did mommy and daddy not pay you enough attention as a child? For the record...FUCK ALL RELIGIONS and FUCK ALL "GODS". And fuck this fugly ginger bitch...
I don't agree that we are all "born atheists". Taken literally it makes no sense, but I think she means lack of faith in god is the default position, and this I don't think is true. There is a lot to be said for the idea that it is in fact belief in gods that is the default position for humans. Andy Thomson gives a good talk on this topic called "why we believe in gods" which can be viewed on youtube if anyone is interested.
@morningstomper123 You must have a deficient memory. I remember quite distinctly from my childhood having the concept of God laboriously described to me. I also distinctly remember being without the concept prior to that. We are all born atheist. We have a default receptivity to a conceptual structure, but that doesn't mean we automatically believe in God. There are plenty of people in the world to whom the concept is totally alien. We are all atheist until someone shoves it up our brain.
@morningstomper123 It's not irrelevant. There was a time when you didn't believe in God, but you don't remember it. At such a time you were ipso facto atheist. If you were raised by robots, it is highly unlikely you would develop an "all-powerful, all-knowing, loving creator with great plan" concept all by yourself. To return to the mainstream of my dissertation: We are born atheists.
@Snakepliskinist That's simply you personal opinion. Humans certainly DO create gods. That's why they exist, because we make them on our own. If a lack of faith was the default position, it would also be the dominant position. It clearly isn't.
@Snakepliskinist I certainly don't think anyone is born a theist, but the notion that we are all atheists until someone "shoves it up our brain" is perplexing. Then where did the concept of a god come from? I think we both know that its very possible for anyone without prior knowledge of a god, pondering their own existence, to eventually conceive and conclude that they believe something created them and/or everything. Just as it's likely someone else in the world-
@darkmonkey555 -did not have this conception and instead conceived and concluded somehow that water is the key to all life, or trees are magic, etc... The point to be made here is that your inclusion of the line about the concept being alien to some was meant to serve as a defense to your final statement, but in actuality doesn't make any sense together. The second to last line proves we don't have to naturally conceive a god and is good, but the last line is a stretch.lol
@darkmonkey555 The concept of God came about through evolution, as previous anthropomorphisms of natural forces were consolidated into a single concept. While this required a certain quantum leap, it also depended on a poly-god system and increasing understanding of natural laws. Much like biological evolution, the final product cannot spring ingto existence suddenly.
@MrSjAsPeRwHiTlOc1000 who said i was a christian? if people can not seperate a god from the individuals that associate with that specific god they are idiots. yes idiots. why are they idiots. because if it were 1924 these same people would be christians and racisis. because you "liberals" are slaves following the zeitgeist like mad maenads. your out of your league cute. women should be seen not heard. that was a joke by the way. but seriously get back in the kitchen.
@MrSjAsPeRwHiTlOc1000 the root word for nice means stupid. dont be nice before the things that seek your destruction. the road to slavery is paved with slogans for peace, unity, freedom. it is going to get real bad real soon. when it happens. trace the reason for their manifestation. and you will find the banner of kindness leading the masses to their slavery. youth is wasted on the young.
damn this girl is the shit ive seen a shit load of videos talking about the science behind videos and all that good shit which i completely agree with but fuckin i gotta watch more of this stuff george carlin david duke science prophesors in college posting videos on youtube n shit but damn you cover a completely different area...damn
You know, I've watched your videos and I have one word that I thought from the start and think even stronger after most of the videos. Pathetic!!
Usually people grow on you after you take the time to understand them and where they come from a little, or a lot. In the end I think your pathetic and ridiculous is a distant second.
This doesn't make any senses, were you really mormon? mormons believe hell does not exist, it is called "outer darkness" and it is the absence of god.
@smelybelygurl Hell in Mormonism can refer to either "outer darkness" or "spirit prison". Since "outer darkness" is extremely rare for anyone on earth, when Mormons talk about someone going to Hell they are usually referring to "spirit prison", which is a place where one resides after death but before the resurrection. Maybe she was just using the term Hell because that is a word more easily understood by a broad audience as a place where "bad" people go.
The book of Mormon is one of the biggest frauds out there. If you really knew who Christ was and what he did, if you really knew what Grace is then guilt wouldn't have been an issue.
I'm sorry for the terrible experience you had. I pray that one day you find the truth you desire. Also I hope you continue to search for the truth and never give up.
I think it's funny how the average atheist can know more scripture than most Christians but still be so blind. It's kind of sad considering what's on the line
@Jaxal619 - Funny, I think the same thing about religious people, the future of our planet is on the line, its quite sad that people choose the fairy tales of antiquity over the marvelous reality before them and then turn a blind eye to the human condition as though they are above the rest of us because they have the ability to believe the absurd.
@Jaxal619 blind to what, slavery ,genocide, rape or abraham, who by the way, pimped his wife. blind to what. enlighten us. evidence please and less flipant comments ,it doesnt make you look very smart. come on convert me, my door is open. did you go through every faith to find your choosen god?. lets see what your made of then.
@ZeusHelios Because you're the one with a positive assertion (i.e. there is a god,) the burden of proof is on you. Also, please show me proof that you didnt directly take that from shock of fraud.
@Prognosticator00 Yes I did. Why do I need to prove to an atheist that there is a God why should an atheist care if there is or not. if you are concerned about it then listen to those who believe
and seach. its not for believers to prove there is a god and not for atheist to prove there is not Its for you to go and find out for your self if your want to know. We can talk about it and tell each other why we believe or disbelieve and add up the facts and our expereinces and decide from them.
@Prognosticator00 If you still think its up to believers to prove to you if there is a God then I ask again show believers whats your proof that atheism is correct if you wish to still argue with believers. Believers have been trying to prove to athist for a long time but they have refused to accept the facts They continue to want more and more proof i ask then what proof do you want.
@ZeusHelios proof? What proof? The "finely tuned universe?" The universe isn't finely tuned for life, so you might as well drop that one.
Basically until I actually see the manifestation of a deity with my own eyes I will not believe. I don't think that's unreasonable. And no, you don't have to prove a god exists if you want to believe it, but you will have to prove a god exists if you want to convince me.
@Prognosticator00 The proof for Christians that God exist is what I'm talking about is enough for them. If thats a finely tuned universe or what ever else that makes Christians beliver then thats enough for them if that is not enough for you then its for you to prove it for your self that will satisfy you . Its not for me or Christians to convince you either thats all upto you.
@ZeusHelios As for why I care, I care because religious people impose their laws as laws that everyone should follow, such as laws against abortion or against homosexual equality. I care because if not for religion the World Trade center would still be standing.
@Prognosticator00 If you want to know if God exist you need find out for your self if it concerns you so much. And if it really concerns you then you will go out of your way to prove he does not exist for humanity sake. Just as Christians who go out of their way to preach their gospel. You will not covert them to atheism any more than they will convince you God exist. Christaians cannot show you God they can only show you God with the proof that convinces them if thats not enough for you -cont-
@Prognosticator00 y Thenyou either need tell them what would convince you or other wise go and find out for your self. Asking them to show you God, Will only make them point out creation to you they cant show you God himself. If thats what you want then you will have to wait till that day comes if that is the only proof that will convince you. Christans can ask you to pray and let God convince you. No one can convince you but God. They preach to those who will listen they cant convince them all.
@Prognosticator00 The world trade centre is nothing to do with God but the evil of men the fanatics who have also used religion to hurt God and religion. And why you so convinced that the world trade centre was to do with religion there is no prove for that. It Might have been politics more than religion. Its what men believe in that drives them to do things God is not to blame for false teachings. Listen to Christ teachings thats what God has taught us
@Prognosticator00 Governments impose laws on us to. Laws are given to follow for harmony in society You choose to follow them. We all face the consequences of our own actions when we break the law that has either been imposed or given to follow. A Christian is not forced to follow any law in its religion you choose to follow it If you dont you cant be a Christian. You cant be called a farmer if you do not follow the rules of farming. What religion forces its followers thats what dictators do.
fear should not be the driving force in the belief of Jesus but in our understanding of his love for us.a love that has no bounds and no conditions.you are right on one thing.religion is what turns people off about God but i don't follow man or man's religion i serve Jesus out of love and not out of fear.you are also right if a person converts out of fear the conversion isn't real.being a follower of Jesus has to be the right motive.the only true and honest motive has to always be our love 4 God
@777bradguy Think about this for a moment. I love you and I gave you "free will" BUT!, if you refuse to do what I want you to do (a VAST! contradiction of what "free will" is) you are going to HELL. Umm...........That is something good people fear and who wants to go to hell? No one.
@777bradguy the driving force is FEAR. Jesus talked more about hell in the bible than he did about heaven and about money the most. Yet money is the root of all evil. ..................right. god is full of shit.
8000 years ago there was a great warrior who strongly believed in fighting the good fight and desroying all evil from his world, he trained to be the best and be ready for any type of war he was about to wage. After a long war he found someone so purely evil and strong to,the evil warlord sent minion after minion to battle this lone soldier of good, and with passion and determination he destroyed all in his way. Weak from battle the hero was waiting at the edge of the valcano...
the evil warlord charged at him with rage, and at the split second of impact from the attack the hero grabbed the warlord pulling them both off the mountain and spiraling towards the pit of lava, the hero knew...this was it, he done his part.
I'm with lacie. If I'm a great person and I never wish harm on anyone els, donate to sick and dying people, read to the blind, spend my whole life being nothing less than a great person I WILL STILL GO TO HELL IF I DO NOT OR REFUSE TO BELIEVE IN GOD OR ANY HIGHER POWER. BUT the guy next to me waiting to get into heavens gates beat his wife and children, spit on the homeless, raped 20 woman, and killed a few people will still get into heaven for asking for forgiveness and accepting god. That's B
I just found your deconversion series. It rings true so much on what I'm going through. You were a lot quicker to pick up on it than I was...I didn't start down that path until Grad School. Anyway I wanted to say thanks for sharing your story.
@gogreen Please read the christian ESV Bible. It is the true word of God. Please look up Howard Storm NDE. It's on youtube. I only say this cause I don't want for anyone to go to hell. Jesus talked more about hell in the bible than he did heaven. there is a reason for that. You were still trying to do it on your own instead of letting the Holy Spirit lead you. It's not that your evil it is the fall from Adam and Eve that has made all sinners. No one is good enough Only the Blood of Jesus.
@costanvandana One thing about Howard strom that gnawingly bothers me. He says it became an obsession with him wondering whether his meeting with Jesus and the angels was real or just the traumatic effects of dying. IF he REALLY met God, in and with his SPIRIT, no amounst of evidence to the contrary could make him not know he really met the Christ! You see, sub subconsciously he knows his mind underneath his mind concocted it all up. Notice he doesn't doubt his expernece in hell.
@costanvandana what you dont get is us athiests do the right thing because its the right thing not because we feel threatened that we will go to hell. Kids are brainwashed and blackmailed as kids and are unable to think for themselves and thats very corrupted.
@xramborinox Sorry to hear that you have been taught that hell is a threat. It was created for satan and his followers.Because of the fall we unfortunately are condemned with satan. But God in His wisdom and grace created a way out for us.It is a gift. Eph2:8.For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves,it is the gift of God;it is not from works,so that no one can boast. There are two things you can believe about man1.He is corrupt 2.anything he does is for his gain.
@costanvandana hell is a threat, you think its right that young children are forced by their parents to make a vow to something they dont even understand what the hell they are vowing into? Do you think its right that someone could ruin someones life and they could get off as easy as praying for 2 minutes and then they feel ok with themselves? thats why are world is so fucked up today.
@xramborinox Well that is where they are wrong.Children get a free pass into heaven. And a commitment is only as strong as the belief in your heart. At the last supper Jesus said that one of the disciples would lie and turn him in to the sanhedrin. Then all the disciples looked at Jesus and said,"is it I Lord"?What i'm telling you is that even though Judas acted like a disciple his heart was wicked. Some preachers are looking to fill there pockets that is why it is so important that you read theword
@costanvandana "Children get a free pass into heaven." IF I believed that & believed heaven is blissful paradise & the only other possibility is eternal torture, I would kill all the children I could before being stopped. How could any decent person do otherwise? Of course, there's no decency in the belief anyway. Any decent person wouldn't believe in, support or promote the vile Holy Babble & its imaginary fiends.
@StrangerinaslandWhy would you do that? Your not giving the child a choice. You just add fuel to the fire for people who say that all atheists are evil by saying your going to kill children so that they can go to heaven. That is what that guy David Koresh did. You don't want to be labeled like him do you? You can believe what you want. See what ever choices we make now we will have to pay later.
@costanvandana Stop running around the issue. You know what I'm saying.
The only thing "evil" about it would be that your petty bully god wouldn't like that I got some into heaven that it wanted in hell.
IF what I proposed were true, it wouldn't matter what people label me.
I'd be saving many children from being tortured for eternity. There couldn't be much nobler mission. I'd be risking myself being tortured for eternity, an infinitely greater sacrifice than Jesus made.
@Strangerinasland EPH 1:5In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us. Romans 1:19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisiblequalities his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
@costanvandana "EPH 1:5In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, to the praise of his glorious grace ... ... ... ... so that people are without excuse"
Nonsense. IF IT DID EXIST, it would be your sadistic nasty conceited narcisist god that is without excuse.
@Strangerinasland Be nice now.We are just talking about rights and wrongs. The bible responds to every question that atheists have. That is why I can quote scripture. It isn't a new concept. This topic has been around since time began.People never change.Only technology changes. The more we learn the more we think we know, and we think that there is no God.But reality is we haven't created life,We only duplicate it.So we really aren't that smart. We are just waiting for the end to see who is right.
@Strangerinasland ok here is the thing. What you will quote i'm sure is the old testament, a covenant mad with the jews and God. Now the new testament is made with gentiles and jews. And in the new testament i'm sure your not going to find what you say is inhumane ideas. I have just one question. in what religion where you that has made you feel so negative about faith in Jesus? And remember religion is us trying to get closer to God, and Jesus is God showing us how we can come to Him.
@costanvandana " The bible responds to every question that atheists have." I'm sure it does. The problem is that the responses are faith-based. Also, atheists don't put questions to god. God does not exist, so there is nothing to address. As atheists, we have arguments, accusations and assertions. Any bible verse may be correct if it can be verified. Jerusalem's existence in the Assyrian period can be verified. The existence of Moses, Joshua and Aaron cannot be, so they remain mythical.
@xramborinox See the world has rules that we follow. Why is it so hard to see that the creator has rules that are to be followed? It is not a question of fear but a belief in Love. He loved us so much that He didn't want anyone to be condemned to hell. So God gave His only Son Jesus Christ to be the sacrifice for our sins. Who in this great world of ours does something like this. No man that I know of. You see it is Love that put him there and love that kept him there. Not fear.
"the right thing was the religious thing, following the gospel, and the BOM, and the Holy Bible". What does a mormon think the gospel is? Why was the BOM mentioned before the Holy Bible.
Wow, Lacy, this was a very deep and personal video and I understand every word that you're saying. I think a big problem with your childhood spiritual life was that it was graceless. You don't have to try to be a good person or earn your way to heaven because if you receive Jesus you will already be a good person, because his atonement for your sins makes you good.
@taffysaur No, you are not a bad person because you reject religion. It's not really religion that makes you good. We are bad because we've broken God's moral law, the ten commandments. We've all lied, stolen, and blasphemed. Not to mention God judges us right down to the intents of the heart (hatred is muder). That is what makes us bad. But the Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son that whoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life".
@CoolPhleg here's the thing though; i'm not going to debate the existence or seniority of "god". rather, i question his moral authority. because as a human being, many of his laws are morally abhorrent to me. even granting that he did exist (which i don't believe at all, incidentally), i'd still denounce him, because i have a different set of morals, based on thought and reason. should i go to hell for that?
conversely, what about the things left out of the ten commandments? like child abuse?
@taffysaur Many years ago, our minister, a recent graduate of a respected main-line seminary, told our small reading group the following: You may never hear this said from a pulpit, but the main-line theological schools DO NOT teach that the Bible is God's words being revealed to mankind. Rather, that the Bible is a record of man's search for God! It shocked me, but I could certainly agree to that. God does do some "un-godly" acts in the Old Testament!
Wow. I keep running into fellow ex-mormon atheists on youtube. AronRa's another one. Thanks for the series of posts. It's great to hear the journey from another ex-mormon.
I use to goto a baptist church when I was a kid. they sang songs every sunday, and talked about how great god was and people fell out. I dunnno. IT was weird. Anyway they did very little for the community they were located in. no tutoring, no sports programs to keep kids from gangs, no soup kitchens. I dunno basically they just sang songs and stayed ignorant. So I stopped going when I got older. life's been great afterwards.
I was a Christian Catholic, they teach things that are not truth about other religions, they pay hindus to convert, I became a Hindu without being paid or even asked! Christians use fear of Hell and satan a lot. I feel very liberated now and now I can continue with my journey to doing Gods will on Earth. theyuha.blogspot.com
i used to be an atheist, but now i call myself an independent spiritualist, or simply a pagan. I believe in the mystic spiritual forces of nature and ancestry. Sounds korny but its what i feel.
you're in a lost and fallen state. If you dont believe in a mormon church then what church do you believe in right now? All the words you said in the internet against the only true and living church will stand as a witness against you when the inevitable day of Christ coming is here. You will regret that day and you would wish that you could turn back time so you could do more good things than this.
this story touched me. i felt like that too. i felt pressured by catholicism (?) i was baptized as a baby. i had no choice. my family and church told me that this was right. it didnt feel right to me. i loved gays, i fell in love with an athiest punk and i always thought sience made more sense. it wasnt for me. when i stopped going at the age of 13 my family stopped talking to me normally...
@forestskog Nope, mormonism do not believe that all would go to heaven. Salvation is offered to all but not all people would accept salvation. God do not force people to obey Him. All have their own choices. But to those who will keep God's law to the end is sure of salvation. So even the mormons if they don't endure to the end, there's no salvation also. And not all churches who teaches about Christ are true churches. God cannot be the author of confusion, he cannot contradict himself.
'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' is the only true and living church. Because it is founded by prophets and apostles, Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. The heaven is not closed, it's open and we receive more revelations. So to those who don't believe God will someday bend their knees and confess with their own mouths that God is real. And Christ coming is a great day for those who believe but terrible day to those who deny or reject truths.
Everyone is Called by God to be a Child of god. if you do not seek to have a personal relationship with God then you are just his creation, not his people. once you accept him you are then his Child. He gives us a Choice. to come running to him when he calls us, or to turn our backs. He will not force us to love him. because love does not work that way. There is nothing i can say here to try and convince you otherwise im sure. but if it falls on your heart to try one more time. ill be here for u
No one is good enough. that is what grace is about. God accepts me for who I am. who the Lord sets free is free indeed. Jesus knows we fail. he knows there is nothing we can do to change ourselves, it is through grace in Christ Jesus that we are set free. I do things that are right, and bad. Rom. 7 is a good example of doing what we know is wrong even though we want to do what is right. He says grace covers all we do that is wrong. I am a Biblical Christian. And grace has found me.
I don't understand why god's words and values are so overcomplicated. they are simple. Respect your fellow man, respect the earth and all it provides for you, and take accountability for your actions.
@JAT763 ... and go to church every Sunday, pray every day, don't feel anger, selfishness, laziness and don't even think about doing something wrong, don't doubt the bible, don't question your beliefs, never try to think whether god really exists, don't have sex, don't even want to have sex, don't masturbate...
If you think about it, 99,9% of the obligations in religion have nothing to do with respecting your fellow man or even with being a good person, and they actually turn you into a bad one.
@gugamilare yea thats when they get into the secular kafka-esque church doctrines and blah blah blah. I don't go to "church" in the traditional sense. I don't want to sit in a designated "people corral" and listen to some holier than thou pastor tell me how bad I'm screwing up my life by being human. I believe in the simplicity of true christianity and the true message christ brought. which really are those 3 things. and in my opinion its not christ telling me what not to do, it's people.
@JAT763 ...and go to church every Sunday, pray every day, don't feel anger, selfishness, laziness and don't even think about doing something wrong, don't doubt the bible, don't question your beliefs, never try to think whether god really exists, don't have sex, don't even want to have sex, don't masturbate...
If you think about it, 99,9% of the obligations in religion have nothing to do with respecting your fellow man or even with being a good person, they actually turn you into a bad one.
This is what I think about the LDS church. They are a bunch of money grubbing bastards who think they hold a monopoly on spiritual truth by teaching the same things over and over again. Well I got news for those who are still in the church. They don't. Besides I always felt that there was something wrong with damn church when I a kid.
I am talking shit mostly cause of a claim I want denouced or refutatated, or whatever the fuck religious terms should apply here as even a fucking agnostic, cause I have studied the shit, the whole Mormon religion which tech I deonuce being a chirstian years ago cause the debt that jesus never claimed to be God is a jock but Mormons are not fucking Christians I am not one either but jeusus lady fucking grasp they think jesus is a dude, a god, son fo God savior all in one, grasp it bitch
I went to church when I was a child but I was actually afraid of living forever. I can remember laying in bed and thinking about being an old man playing chess with another old man up in the sky, really weird feeling knowing you have to go on living forever...not being able to rest in piece and all that :P
You are truly a brave soul, gogreen18. Thank you for sharing your personal journey away from mind control, towards mind freedom. It is an ongoing journey, one which I am still undergoing also, on deeper and deeper levels. I wish you ever-increasing peace of mind, and happiness. :)
RARRR you were born a SINNER!! Your righteousness is like filthy rags! Don't you want to live your life PLEASING to God!? Why don't you PRAY more and be more HOLY??
haha mormonism is based on fear, guilt, and endless good works...
@donkerskaduwee Okay, I used to be a christian and Laci is completly right. I was scared of the consequences. I was TRICKED into believing in a god because I was afraid of the outcome if I didn't. Atheism all the way
I can understand why this girl doesn't have faith anymore. She got into the mormons! You should know not to fuck with them. These bastards will rape a woman 10 times and claim that god told them to.They're also completely okay with the idea of having more than 1 wife.
It's a sect, true christians don't go door to door like pedos.
I don't agree with Mormonism but you are completely ignorant and misinformed. I live in Utah and know hundreds of Mormons. They are some of the most selfless and caring people i have ever had the privilege of associating with. like i said i know hundreds of Mormons and not one of them has more than one wife and not one of them thinks it is okay to have more than one wife. also rape can get you excommunicated from the church. For your benefit please research before posting. Thanks
@DieOrBlink,yeah i share the same experience as yourself, therefore no research is needed. They believe that only a select few people are going to heaven when christianity teaches you that heaven is for everyone and god is loving.
These people are occult maniacs, going door to door giving real christians a bad name.Go read the book of mormon yourself, they're crazy man,
@donkerskaduwee Any religion is crazy, and that is also not true in Mormanism, anyone can get into heaven and God is loving. And what makes someone a real Christian? Mormons believe and worship Christ what more is needed to be considered a "Christian"? And I have also read the Book of Mormon too, to me Mormons are slightly less crazy than other Christian churches. Once again please do some research before making outlandish claims.
@donkerskaduwee actually in bible says a couple of different things Jesus is quoted as saying "I have not coem to save the world but those my father has given me" also there is talk of only 1444, 000 elect. So, that not true that Christianity everyone is for heaven. Nope In the Christian bible there are selected people as well. I have a older bible. In the new king james version it has been changed..so I am now wondering what else was changed and how many times?
@donkerskaduwee Mormons are one of the few groups (Along with Atheists) that are significantly underrepresented in the prison system in the US. Further, there is no such thing as a "true Christian." Christianity is a self-declared status - if you believe Jesus Christ is your lord and savior you are a Christian, all other considerations are separate.
That music is really distracting, I struggled to keep watching. Why put mood music in at all? Let your words convey the message without using artificial ways to evoke emotion. And if you must have music make it quieter and not so shrill. It's areal shame because you have something important to say
You were in theatre? Ha ha ha. That explains so much! Me too, and I'm a new atheist. It was the little sphere that allowed me, from an actor's unusual point of view, to examine the world objectively and without fear. Perhaps it wasn't exactly the same for you, but I wouldn't be surprised either.
So she is upset because other people won't be there? Does she often throw in the towel when she things don't work perfectly? Also, a typical teenager? yeah i am rather sure she wasn't perfect. She is seeing the human nature and the selfishness of it and saying, "why is the flesh evil?" and rationalizing it. You can tell by her words and phrases she lives in a hedonism mentality, which explains why she fell away. I have yet to meet a hedonism person that didn't.
@MrFROHOE Living in the moment, without care of the future, not seeing the impact or not caring about the impact of the present on the future. She sounds like it, maybe i'm wrong, but still, just because your family won't be in heaven, that is a reason to reject "truth"? Take it out of the context of religion, and anyone would think she was a moron. what if she quit her job because the company would't hire all of her friends. Merely change the subject to see if it still makes sense.
@bluefootedpig So people who don't believe in Christ are all morons?!?!?! AND ARE YOU COMPARING SPENDING AN ETERNITY WITHOUT YOUR LOVED FAMILY MEMBERS WITH WORKING WITHOUT FRIENDS. "truth" that book you call truth is 1000s of years old, has been translated 100s of times, re-written millions of times, edited countless times, and has been interpreted by crooked historians and corrupt church officials.
@MrFROHOE First off, i never said the bible was truth. So calm the hell down. Nor am i saying that if you don't believe you are a moron. I am saying that if you don't believe something on the simple basis that it goes against what you think, then yes, you are a moron. That is how you get killers, when the law just doesn't go the way you want it, so you break the law. And if your family killed 50 people, would you say that the courts should let your child go free?
@veronicachic Mormonism/the LDS faith is only a cult in as much as every other religion could be considered a "cult". I hate to defend it really, having been ostensibly Mormon/LDS at one time, but it's not any more a cult then say, Catholicism (not that that's saying much). This is a touchy issue for me, as half my family are Mormons, and as backwards I find their beliefs, I find no justification in calling it a "cult".
@TransparentChocolate Most religions start as cults and then become respectable. Christians in general no longer give all their possessions to the poor as in Christ's time or cut themselves off from their families to follow Christ. Major denominations are becoming more ecumenical. Mormonism is going through this process. In 30 years the LDS may be like the CofC (RLDS) have become. The difference between mormonsim and other faiths is that it was more cult like unitl more recently.
@hernhillrebel a cult or not,its a bunch of lies! they demand people to live by these lies, its never good to scare people in to folowing anything! there is no god, noone has the right to indoctrinate children in to believing there is one! all religions should be made ilegal, live your life to the fullest, its the only one you got!
@peredebeeste Well yes, I'm afraid it is a bunch of lies and my heart aches when I see those poor young missionaries working so hard for the church, facing rejection and riddicule more than ever now that the truth is out there on the internet. Those poor young people whose world could be shattered when they find out the stuff that has been kept from them by the leaders.
@hernhillrebel indeed it is a shame, all those lives thrown away,it realy hurts me to to see blind devotion like that, lets all hope that someday the world will be a better, godless place!
@TransparentChocolate They all stem from cult origins. We give unfair stigma to some cults and accept others because they have large groups of people that believe in them. that they can't all be right. Or if you're in my cult ( agnostic) none of them right
@bubmoses fair enough. My point was exactly that, though. That referring to Mormons as a cult more-so than any other religion is unfair.
And as an agnostic atheist, I also hold that none of them are right. Religion tries to spread unverified truths and thus blocks out any verified truth that contradicts it. That's why I personally find religion in general to be of dubious merit.
I still felt the need to defend Mormons though, coming from a Mormon family.
i think miss lacie, that you suffer from basic misrepresentation. the religious people in your personal life or as represented by zealots screaming at people in about abortion may have been dicks. but they dont represent the belief or its good people. just as i wont assume that atheism is filled with pretentious children. but i will tell you that your extravagant emo tirades against religion does misrepresent your viewpoint. it looks less logic and more butthurt
Thanks for sharing <3 I grew up mormon also and I relate to your story so much.

I don't agree that we are all "born atheists". Taken literally it makes no sense, but I think she means lack of faith in god is the default position, and this I don't think is true. There is a lot to be said for the idea that it is in fact belief in gods that is the default position for humans. Andy Thomson gives a good talk on this topic called "why we believe in gods" which can be viewed on youtube if anyone is interested.
morningstomper123 2 months ago
@morningstomper123 You must have a deficient memory. I remember quite distinctly from my childhood having the concept of God laboriously described to me. I also distinctly remember being without the concept prior to that. We are all born atheist. We have a default receptivity to a conceptual structure, but that doesn't mean we automatically believe in God. There are plenty of people in the world to whom the concept is totally alien. We are all atheist until someone shoves it up our brain.
Snakepliskinist 1 month ago
@Snakepliskinist Yeah well, we all have deficient memories, that's irrelevant. Watch the talk andy thomson gives or STFU
morningstomper123 1 month ago
@morningstomper123 It's not irrelevant. There was a time when you didn't believe in God, but you don't remember it. At such a time you were ipso facto atheist. If you were raised by robots, it is highly unlikely you would develop an "all-powerful, all-knowing, loving creator with great plan" concept all by yourself. To return to the mainstream of my dissertation: We are born atheists.
Snakepliskinist 1 month ago
@Snakepliskinist That's simply you personal opinion. Humans certainly DO create gods. That's why they exist, because we make them on our own. If a lack of faith was the default position, it would also be the dominant position. It clearly isn't.
morningstomper123 1 month ago
@Snakepliskinist I certainly don't think anyone is born a theist, but the notion that we are all atheists until someone "shoves it up our brain" is perplexing. Then where did the concept of a god come from? I think we both know that its very possible for anyone without prior knowledge of a god, pondering their own existence, to eventually conceive and conclude that they believe something created them and/or everything. Just as it's likely someone else in the world-
darkmonkey555 1 month ago
@darkmonkey555 -did not have this conception and instead conceived and concluded somehow that water is the key to all life, or trees are magic, etc... The point to be made here is that your inclusion of the line about the concept being alien to some was meant to serve as a defense to your final statement, but in actuality doesn't make any sense together. The second to last line proves we don't have to naturally conceive a god and is good, but the last line is a stretch.lol
darkmonkey555 1 month ago
@darkmonkey555 The concept of God came about through evolution, as previous anthropomorphisms of natural forces were consolidated into a single concept. While this required a certain quantum leap, it also depended on a poly-god system and increasing understanding of natural laws. Much like biological evolution, the final product cannot spring ingto existence suddenly.

This doesn't make any senses, were you really mormon? mormons believe hell does not exist, it is called "outer darkness" and it is the absence of god.
smelybelygurl 6 months ago
@smelybelygurl Hell in Mormonism can refer to either "outer darkness" or "spirit prison". Since "outer darkness" is extremely rare for anyone on earth, when Mormons talk about someone going to Hell they are usually referring to "spirit prison", which is a place where one resides after death but before the resurrection. Maybe she was just using the term Hell because that is a word more easily understood by a broad audience as a place where "bad" people go.

@ZeusHelios Because you're the one with a positive assertion (i.e. there is a god,) the burden of proof is on you. Also, please show me proof that you didnt directly take that from shock of fraud.
Prognosticator00 8 months ago
@Prognosticator00 Yes I did. Why do I need to prove to an atheist that there is a God why should an atheist care if there is or not. if you are concerned about it then listen to those who believe
and seach. its not for believers to prove there is a god and not for atheist to prove there is not Its for you to go and find out for your self if your want to know. We can talk about it and tell each other why we believe or disbelieve and add up the facts and our expereinces and decide from them.
ZeusHelios 8 months ago
@Prognosticator00 If you still think its up to believers to prove to you if there is a God then I ask again show believers whats your proof that atheism is correct if you wish to still argue with believers. Believers have been trying to prove to athist for a long time but they have refused to accept the facts They continue to want more and more proof i ask then what proof do you want.
ZeusHelios 8 months ago
@ZeusHelios proof? What proof? The "finely tuned universe?" The universe isn't finely tuned for life, so you might as well drop that one.
Basically until I actually see the manifestation of a deity with my own eyes I will not believe. I don't think that's unreasonable. And no, you don't have to prove a god exists if you want to believe it, but you will have to prove a god exists if you want to convince me.
Prognosticator00 8 months ago
@Prognosticator00 The proof for Christians that God exist is what I'm talking about is enough for them. If thats a finely tuned universe or what ever else that makes Christians beliver then thats enough for them if that is not enough for you then its for you to prove it for your self that will satisfy you . Its not for me or Christians to convince you either thats all upto you.
ZeusHelios 8 months ago
@ZeusHelios As for why I care, I care because religious people impose their laws as laws that everyone should follow, such as laws against abortion or against homosexual equality. I care because if not for religion the World Trade center would still be standing.
Prognosticator00 8 months ago
@Prognosticator00 If you want to know if God exist you need find out for your self if it concerns you so much. And if it really concerns you then you will go out of your way to prove he does not exist for humanity sake. Just as Christians who go out of their way to preach their gospel. You will not covert them to atheism any more than they will convince you God exist. Christaians cannot show you God they can only show you God with the proof that convinces them if thats not enough for you -cont-
ZeusHelios 8 months ago
@Prognosticator00 y Thenyou either need tell them what would convince you or other wise go and find out for your self. Asking them to show you God, Will only make them point out creation to you they cant show you God himself. If thats what you want then you will have to wait till that day comes if that is the only proof that will convince you. Christans can ask you to pray and let God convince you. No one can convince you but God. They preach to those who will listen they cant convince them all.
ZeusHelios 8 months ago
@Prognosticator00 The world trade centre is nothing to do with God but the evil of men the fanatics who have also used religion to hurt God and religion. And why you so convinced that the world trade centre was to do with religion there is no prove for that. It Might have been politics more than religion. Its what men believe in that drives them to do things God is not to blame for false teachings. Listen to Christ teachings thats what God has taught us
ZeusHelios 8 months ago
@Prognosticator00 Governments impose laws on us to. Laws are given to follow for harmony in society You choose to follow them. We all face the consequences of our own actions when we break the law that has either been imposed or given to follow. A Christian is not forced to follow any law in its religion you choose to follow it If you dont you cant be a Christian. You cant be called a farmer if you do not follow the rules of farming. What religion forces its followers thats what dictators do.

Jesus talked more about hell in the bible than he did heaven. there is a reason for that. You were still trying to do it on your own instead of letting the Holy Spirit lead you. It's not that your evil it is the fall from Adam and Eve that has made all sinners. No one is good enough Only the Blood of Jesus.
costanvandana 9 months ago
@costanvandana One thing about Howard strom that gnawingly bothers me. He says it became an obsession with him wondering whether his meeting with Jesus and the angels was real or just the traumatic effects of dying. IF he REALLY met God, in and with his SPIRIT, no amounst of evidence to the contrary could make him not know he really met the Christ! You see, sub subconsciously he knows his mind underneath his mind concocted it all up. Notice he doesn't doubt his expernece in hell.

xramborinox 7 months ago
@xramborinox Well that is where they are wrong.Children get a free pass into heaven. And a commitment is only as strong as the belief in your heart. At the last supper Jesus said that one of the disciples would lie and turn him in to the sanhedrin. Then all the disciples looked at Jesus and said,"is it I Lord"?What i'm telling you is that even though Judas acted like a disciple his heart was wicked. Some preachers are looking to fill there pockets that is why it is so important that you read theword
costanvandana 7 months ago
@costanvandana "Children get a free pass into heaven." IF I believed that & believed heaven is blissful paradise & the only other possibility is eternal torture, I would kill all the children I could before being stopped. How could any decent person do otherwise? Of course, there's no decency in the belief anyway. Any decent person wouldn't believe in, support or promote the vile Holy Babble & its imaginary fiends.
Strangerinasland 7 months ago
@StrangerinaslandWhy would you do that? Your not giving the child a choice. You just add fuel to the fire for people who say that all atheists are evil by saying your going to kill children so that they can go to heaven. That is what that guy David Koresh did. You don't want to be labeled like him do you? You can believe what you want. See what ever choices we make now we will have to pay later.

I'd be saving many children from being tortured for eternity. There couldn't be much nobler mission. I'd be risking myself being tortured for eternity, an infinitely greater sacrifice than Jesus made.

CoolPhleg 9 months ago
@CoolPhleg are you saying i'm not a good person because i reject religion?
i'd rather just be good for its own sake, not because i've been threatened.
taffysaur 9 months ago
@taffysaur No, you are not a bad person because you reject religion. It's not really religion that makes you good. We are bad because we've broken God's moral law, the ten commandments. We've all lied, stolen, and blasphemed. Not to mention God judges us right down to the intents of the heart (hatred is muder). That is what makes us bad. But the Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son that whoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life".
CoolPhleg 9 months ago
@CoolPhleg here's the thing though; i'm not going to debate the existence or seniority of "god". rather, i question his moral authority. because as a human being, many of his laws are morally abhorrent to me. even granting that he did exist (which i don't believe at all, incidentally), i'd still denounce him, because i have a different set of morals, based on thought and reason. should i go to hell for that?
conversely, what about the things left out of the ten commandments? like child abuse?
taffysaur 9 months ago
@taffysaur Many years ago, our minister, a recent graduate of a respected main-line seminary, told our small reading group the following: You may never hear this said from a pulpit, but the main-line theological schools DO NOT teach that the Bible is God's words being revealed to mankind. Rather, that the Bible is a record of man's search for God! It shocked me, but I could certainly agree to that. God does do some "un-godly" acts in the Old Testament!

I feel very liberated now and now I can continue with my journey to doing Gods will on Earth. theyuha.blogspot.com

you're in a lost and fallen state.

Just out of curiosity: Don't mormons believe that virtually everyone goes to heaven?
forestskog 10 months ago
@forestskog they only think mormons go to hevan no one else
livin2myownlamp 10 months ago

And Christ coming is a great day for those who believe but terrible day to those who deny or reject truths.
echubs1299 10 months ago

@JAT763 ... and go to church every Sunday, pray every day, don't feel anger, selfishness, laziness and don't even think about doing something wrong, don't doubt the bible, don't question your beliefs, never try to think whether god really exists, don't have sex, don't even want to have sex, don't masturbate...
If you think about it, 99,9% of the obligations in religion have nothing to do with respecting your fellow man or even with being a good person, and they actually turn you into a bad one.
gugamilare 11 months ago
@gugamilare yea thats when they get into the secular kafka-esque church doctrines and blah blah blah. I don't go to "church" in the traditional sense. I don't want to sit in a designated "people corral" and listen to some holier than thou pastor tell me how bad I'm screwing up my life by being human. I believe in the simplicity of true christianity and the true message christ brought. which really are those 3 things. and in my opinion its not christ telling me what not to do, it's people.

This is what I think about the LDS church. They are a bunch of money grubbing bastards who think they hold a monopoly on spiritual truth by teaching the same things over and over again. Well I got news for those who are still in the church. They don't. Besides I always felt that there was something wrong with damn church when I a kid.

It's a sect, true christians don't go door to door like pedos.

@donkerskaduwee
Thanks
DieOrBlink 1 year ago
@DieOrBlink,yeah i share the same experience as yourself, therefore no research is needed. They believe that only a select few people are going to heaven when christianity teaches you that heaven is for everyone and god is loving.
These people are occult maniacs, going door to door giving real christians a bad name.Go read the book of mormon yourself, they're crazy man,
donkerskaduwee 1 year ago

In the new king james version it has been changed..so I am now wondering what else was changed and how many times?
theytellies2u 1 year ago
@theytellies2u: Look for a book called "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart D. Ehrman which has an explanation of the changes made to the bible.
peterandfaith 1 year ago
@donkerskaduwee Mormons are one of the few groups (Along with Atheists) that are significantly underrepresented in the prison system in the US. Further, there is no such thing as a "true Christian." Christianity is a self-declared status - if you believe Jesus Christ is your lord and savior you are a Christian, all other considerations are separate.

That music is really distracting, I struggled to keep watching. Why put mood music in at all? Let your words convey the message without using artificial ways to evoke emotion. And if you must have music make it quieter and not so shrill. It's areal shame because you have something important to say
johnnystratman1 1 year ago

@bluefootedpig It's not "people", it's her family. I believe you are grossly employing the word "hedonism".

Merely change the subject to see if it still makes sense.
bluefootedpig 1 year ago
@bluefootedpig So people who don't believe in Christ are all morons?!?!?! AND ARE YOU COMPARING SPENDING AN ETERNITY WITHOUT YOUR LOVED FAMILY MEMBERS WITH WORKING WITHOUT FRIENDS. "truth" that book you call truth is 1000s of years old, has been translated 100s of times, re-written millions of times, edited countless times, and has been interpreted by crooked historians and corrupt church officials.
MrFROHOE 1 year ago
@MrFROHOE First off, i never said the bible was truth. So calm the hell down. Nor am i saying that if you don't believe you are a moron. I am saying that if you don't believe something on the simple basis that it goes against what you think, then yes, you are a moron. That is how you get killers, when the law just doesn't go the way you want it, so you break the law. And if your family killed 50 people, would you say that the courts should let your child go free?

is mormonism a cult? or only LDS?
veronicachic 1 year ago
@veronicachic Mormonism/the LDS faith is only a cult in as much as every other religion could be considered a "cult". I hate to defend it really, having been ostensibly Mormon/LDS at one time, but it's not any more a cult then say, Catholicism (not that that's saying much). This is a touchy issue for me, as half my family are Mormons, and as backwards I find their beliefs, I find no justification in calling it a "cult".
TransparentChocolate 1 year ago
@TransparentChocolate Most religions start as cults and then become respectable. Christians in general no longer give all their possessions to the poor as in Christ's time or cut themselves off from their families to follow Christ. Major denominations are becoming more ecumenical. Mormonism is going through this process. In 30 years the LDS may be like the CofC (RLDS) have become. The difference between mormonsim and other faiths is that it was more cult like unitl more recently.
hernhillrebel 1 year ago
@hernhillrebel a cult or not,its a bunch of lies! they demand people to live by these lies, its never good to scare people in to folowing anything! there is no god, noone has the right to indoctrinate children in to believing there is one! all religions should be made ilegal, live your life to the fullest, its the only one you got!
peredebeeste 1 year ago
@peredebeeste Well yes, I'm afraid it is a bunch of lies and my heart aches when I see those poor young missionaries working so hard for the church, facing rejection and riddicule more than ever now that the truth is out there on the internet. @TransparentChocolate They all stem from cult origins. We give unfair stigma to some cults and accept others because they have large groups of people that believe in them. that they can't all be right. Or if you're in my cult ( agnostic) none of them right
bubmoses 1 year ago
@bubmoses fair enough. My point was exactly that, though. That referring to Mormons as a cult more-so than any other religion is unfair.
And as an agnostic atheist, I also hold that none of them are right. Religion tries to spread unverified truths and thus blocks out any verified truth that contradicts it. That's why I personally find religion in general to be of dubious merit.
I still felt the need to defend Mormons though, coming from a Mormon family.
TransparentChocolate 1 year ago
i think miss lacie, that you suffer from basic misrepresentation. the religious people in your personal life or as represented by zealots screaming at people in about abortion may have been dicks. but they dont represent the belief or its good people. just as i wont assume that atheism is filled with pretentious children. but i will tell you that your extravagant emo tirades against religion does misrepresent your viewpoint. it looks less logic and more butthurt
