The moral of this story is the purpose of life, which zidane shows that it is to positively influence the lives of others around you. Necron desires to bring an end to all life, believing it to be completely meaningless. It's a conflict of beliefs, and Zidane's belief must be strongenough to perservere.

That's not X-Death. It is Necron, the so called Darkness of Eternity which wants to end everything. Like the void which controls X-Death but this is Final Fantasy IX and X-Death is from Final Fantasy V.
Everyone keeps saying he was completely random but I'm pretty sure Garland talks of him when he is explaining how he and Kuja are planned to look after the planet. Maybe he didn't say "He is called Necron" which is why people are all "DERRRR?!" We're talking a godlike being in charge of entire planets/existance itself. Very few would know much about him unless he appeared constantly "Hallo creatures, how are yooooo?" - which he didn't so the fact he almost "came from nowhere" makes sense.
for the record, you guys need to check out the gamefaqs section on 9, which has a plot explaination. Long story short however, Necron isnt just some random shit, but rather the spiritual plane existance of the iafa tree. Remeber garland said you didnt stop the tree, only its ability to create mist? When Kuja kills you, you're tenically still linked to gaia, so your souls have to pass through the tree, Where they will be removed from the cylcle by necron.

I thought it was just being typical japs making a climatic ending. I assumed it was an almost random god since apparently the older FF games are known for springing godlike creatures from nowhere. I remember this song now! The wails of the souls is a good way to freak you out for before the final battle, but Necron was a slouch. The toughest final Fantasy boss will always be Ultimecia!
@Tmilom99 Necron is anything BUT a slouch...Grand Cross is devastating. He makes Sephiroth look like nothing, considering all the easy ways there are to beat Sephiroth. Ultimecia....I wouldn't know, because I can't stand 8, far as I'm concerned that game can't compare to 9.
@BlazeV2X I don't know man. Grand Cross is tough but I beat Necron easily. I havent played IX in a long time, but I remember getting to the end and just walking through it. I did have all of my characters at level 99, so that can make things pretty easy. Try VIII and if you can get to Ultimecia you will know exactly what I'm talking about. She it really tough

From 0:23 to 6:12 it's THE BEST final battle music i've ever heard in my life! I mean, screw One Winged Angel! This is the real deal! I also think Necron's the hardest boss in the entire final fantasy universe! Screw Ultimate Sephiroth and Sihn! HES THE REAL DEAL!!!!
@baranguirus no necron is no way near close to half the bosses of final fantasy history, i admit ultimate sephiroth was no way near as difficult but necron was nothing compared to the likes of ruby and emerald weapon from FF7
Penance and every other boss in FFX is easy simply because of Yojimbo. Take Yuna, give her a weapon with first strike, get her to Overdrive, Grand Summon Yojimbo, pay him a shitload of money (more than a million) pray he uses Zantezuken. If he does, the fight is over.
Beatrix from Final Fantasy IX is the hardest boss. She kicks your ass 3 times and lives to brag about by the end of the game and there is nothing you can do about it. Now that is hardcore! :)

Dungeon, This is the last battle, Dancing Mad, One winged angel, The Extreme, Otherworld. Final Fantasies 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 10 all have there final battle themes. Yet, this is clearly the best of them all, but it's not even in the game? They didn't have the boss theme for FF8, they had the final battle song. Same with 6. and 10. But they can't replace Battle 2 with this? This is PERFECT for dissidia. It's fast paced, more so then battle 2. Why Square WHY?! If you agree like this comment.
Something about being the guardian of the Crystal Kuja was trying to destroy. He decided that he was going to let the world end. Kuja kills all of your characters with Ultima and Then he revives 4 of them to fight Necron for some reason. I think. It's been a really long time since I've played it.
@SkullXII He was the guardian over life.... He guarded the crystal. When he saw Kuja's wish to extinguish all life he decided that was the best thing to do. No life = no pain. You can say he was an embodyment of the crystal itself who had decided to give up existance. But when you beat him he realises how strong the will to live actually is. So he decides not to end the world, so to speak. So in a sense, you were fighting Kuja. Kuja's deathwish embodied by the crystal.
i think they were only making it look like people were throwing up cause they want the scene look gruesome and scary and just plain dark but why necron as the final boss man it should have been the main enemy of the game itself kuja
Necron was hinted at many times before - you just have to look for it. There's a couple of theories about him but he's basically making fun of the whole random final boss thing in previous FF's.
I think at the beginning of this song he warms up the feeling of "Ultimate Destruction" . Scaring and haunting sounds.... And later it sounds like a battle of dispair.. But yeah, he got finally killed^^
You guys gotta remember that this song plays during the final battle of the game. So that whole long intro without any real music plays while the battle is loading AND while Necron is talking to the party. Its timed so that the music starts up when the actual fight starts. The screaming at the beginning fits perfectly with the speech he gives the party about ending the world.
