I have an Ericsson pcmcia card that I can put into my laptop. It takes the Internet activated sim chip so that I can use my laptop to access the Internet and my phone interchangeably.

Looks like the new G1 phone doesn't allow me to do the same, so I would be stuck using only the G1 phone for Internet use.

T-Mobile is inconsistent and very frustrating with their services. I won't buy a G1 phone simply because it kills another vital service I currently have. Those idiots!

You can do that with the G1. You can do it even with Wifi, like using the Android as a wireless router.
