I own a small business and I used to work LONG HOURS at least 6 days a week, sometimes Sundays for several years - but no more!!! I have come to a conclusion that you really do need at least 2 days off a week and shouldn't spend more than 8 hours at work. At this point I am going by a motto: "I work to live and not the other way around, but I must work before I can play" - this way I can enjoy both - my life and my work! And it actually turned out to be more productive this way too.

If your objective in life is money and the material trappings of success, it's usually going to require very hard work. Modern Indians are a very ambitious people. The other side of the coin is, what good is life if it's spent working? How many of us have known people who spent their entire lives working like mules, only to die (often times, too young) with plenty of money, but having lived an undesirable life? I believe balance is what matters. Money is great, but enjoying life is even better.

i am working 3 days a week and i think its still 3 days to much at work. i live not to have a job or to have money - i live to be happy (i can be happy with less money and working less). i am sharing my sallary and work with someone else who is working another 3 days a week on different shift (he is happy having a job and i am happy having a job). if one day everyone will share his work with another one, there is no unemployment at all in one day. i'd like to work 24/7 in a job full of pleasure.

If your objective in life is money and the material trappings of success, it's usually going to require very hard work. Modern Indians are a very ambitious people. The other side of the coin is, what good is life if it's spent working? How many of us have known people who spent their entire lives working like mules, only to die (often times, too young) with plenty of money, but having lived an undesirable life? I believe balance is what matters. Money is great, but enjoying life is even better.

I'm more in the fifty hours per week range on my main work. I work on the side. These efforts add another twenty hours per week on average to my load.
There is no overtime regulation for the self employed in the United States. American Entrepreneurs routinely work ten hour days or more and will work seven days per week.

i am working 3 days a week and i think its still 3 days to much at work. i live not to have a job or to have money - i live to be happy (i can be happy with less money and working less). i am sharing my sallary and work with someone else who is working another 3 days a week on different shift (he is happy having a job and i am happy having a job). if one day everyone will share his work with another one, there is no unemployment at all in one day. i'd like to work 24/7 in a job full of pleasure.

People in the west have lost their work ethic because of the clamor for reform. People particularly here in Britain are savvy. They know whats what and they understand that at the end of the day working for money really aint all that important. Work to keep a roof over your head and your wife and kids happy and thats grand. They kept saying working hard pays off in the end but they never actually said how it pays off. Working long hours and trying to out do expectations will work in the short term for India but I suspect will not work out long term. Increased stress of employees puts increased stress on family and society. A few years from now India is going to have a burnt out workforce and more resources are going to go towards fixing that problem. Fix it now while you can. Live your life.

I worked construction most of my life.. and i worked plenty of overtime,60 to 80 hrs. a week and thats not pushing a pencil,,thats pushing concrete around,making bridges , and highways..oh yes my knees are shot wore them out...so overtime is good when it comes to money but bad when i comes to the body,,which in turn ,the same for the computer pushers of the world.,,using the noodle all the time,, like the man said performance is decreased working long hrs., and hes right!
