the old woman was the mother of the 2 couples found dead on the attic, they were first people to live in that house..and noticed the bloody kayako turned into a unbloody girl, that girl was the lead character, she died already..hehehe nice twist for the film..

idk i liked the asin version better, (though i never really understood it) but i think the american version did a better job with atompsphere (in other words they had more money duh) and i think the stairs scene was much more intense in the remake, although the ending was too americanized and ruined the film.

Those flashbacks, it shows Rika in place of Kayako indicating that now Rika will be suffereing the exact same fate as Kayako. Also Rika IS the woman in the attic, it's another reference and the final scene. I can't make that clearer to those who dissagree lol.
