Oil and gas create jobs, wilderness in a remote place does nothing. Funny that the next "president" (usurper) and new communist congress is in place they have still issued drilling permits even after a stop on drilling. Oh, and Hussein Obama does NOTHING to stop the oil spill. I hope you freaks realize that Obama wants to kill our natural resources with this oil spill to wreck our economy. Good job freaks, it's your fault the coasts are getting trashed.
You said it all, your ignorant non alaskan ass is based in Washington DC! Enough said! Your kind hasn't a clue about how it is up here in Alaska! Kiss my "real Alaskan ass"! Enjoy that traffic,no wilderness, smog, etc down south! Truth hurts, don't it??????
blah blah blah first thing you should do is research this place yourself. do not listen to these people who i doubt have ever been to the north slope. i work there and live there half the year. it is the cleanest place i have ever been to in my life. This John Waterman guy is a joke i really doubt he has ever "came to the north slope and played in the wilderness" please hope most Americans are smart enough ignore this political mumbo jumbo and educate them self on the subject
i guess i should say that this mostly because of the State of Alaska we a smarter than any greeny in Washington DC we don't need to be told how to run our state there is a reason we are wealthy, beautiful state its because we protect our land and make sure it is not abused and poluted, the oil companies, contractors know this play by our strict rules and if they don't pay the penalties for such actions.
as far as the animals look up the statistics on the caribou herd on the northslope i am almost positive it has actually grown in numbers every year since the prudhoe has began producing oil. John Waterman is your typical greeny who pretends to love Alaska but decide to live in the concrete jungle of the city which has destroyed more land and killed out more habit than all of Alaska's oil production fields put together. that guys just make me anger listen to the bullshit he tries to feed people
if you want oil companies to follow rules you just have to set them and inforce them like alaska has. the problem is with the political trash that as you would say drive hummers, (stupidest comment i hear too. hummers are nothing special, unless you are an ignorant yuppie who thinks they are some sort of high class SUV. they are reaaly just another GM truck.)
anyway the problem is with the poltical trash that are money hungry slugs that will rollover and play dead or shake like a dog if the oil companies will either wave a little money in their face or offer them a few thousand votes or polical shit like that. Ask Ms. Palin(alaska's governor) about settin a few rules and inforceing them on these so called untouchable oil companies.
you are opposed to drilling so what are you in favor of? and i hate to say it but the hicks aren't to ones driven the hummers, we are just the workers that are up here supportin our family makin an honest living the safest, cleanest, and best way we can. i would look at your greeny liby political trash that are taken the funds and bribes and what not. if you want to protect the states and enviorment then enlighten me there EDUCATED ONE
what do you know about ANWR and the north slope that i seem to have missed while working up here following the rules that THE GREAT STATE OF ALASKA has forced BP and Conoco phillips to follow or get out.
right. so we want to protect our environment from our oil consumption. does this make it ok for u.s. to go to the middle east and exploit their environment and social structure instead? millions of middle-easterners have died because we refuse to exploit our own resources.
I found comparing drilling on the costal plain to "going to the bathroom in the chapel" Approprite for this vid clip which is mostly diarhea of emotion and constipation of fact. You are assuming that the costal plaing cannot be responsibly developed(it can and should be). I understand how one could come to that opinion while living in DC, Boston or LA. I find your arrogance disturbing. Has it ever occured to you that we residents of Alaska actually care about OUR LAND?
Has it ever occurred to you to read my comment before responding with a hostile and negative response? If you had actually understood what I stated is such: We, as consumers in the U.S., have a moral imperative to extract our own resources, rather than forcibly co-opting the resources of others. Ergo, we want oil, we drill our own oil. Next time you feel like firing off an uncalled for hostile response, I suggest you aim for the correct target. Gain an understanding before you speak or write
Alternative fuels and green energies would create way more jobs, and move us towards a cool technological era...

I am educated on the subject, which is why I oppose drilling so a bunch of hicks can drive hummers.
