If Ed's earning the money, he gets to spend it the way he wants. Eunice can get a job if she wants extra money. Of course, with people like her, anything is a pretext to throw a bitch fit. The really sad thing is there are men out there weak enough to marry screech owls like her. What a horrible life to lead!
Ed is wrong, and if he didn't want her to go I could see him at least giving her the money he was going to spend on Mickey. So maybe her and mama could go somewhere for the weekend...His family and wife should come first, and it should be equal. No matter what it makes for a fabulous skit! Why can't TV be like this?
Actually, I think all of the characters have very sad, sympathetic moments where you just have to feel sorry for them and the lot they've been dealt in life.
Ok, I KNOW Carol Burnett wears a wig while playing Eunice, but do you think that Eunice's hair is actually SUPPOSED to be a wig?
I just ask that b/c I noticed something funny on a Wiggins sketch from the Carol Burnett Show, I never thought Miss Wiggins' hair was supposed to be a wig, BUT once she was primping and fixing herself up and she adjused her wig and moved it around, so Miss Wiggins is actually SUPPOSED to be wearing a wig, so I just wonder if Eunice is too?
Guess Mickey isn't the brightest penny,in the take a penny leave a penny tray,,,"Why don't you get the hell away from me " But man oh man I haven't laughed this hard since ,,,,the last time I saw this,,,(unless you consider the laughing I did during the bush administration , but that wasn't funny HA,HA that was funny Oh Brother what next )
Such a funny skit! I can't stand the shows they have on now. I don't get the slop they call t.v. shows today. Can someone tell me why every other show has to be a reality show??? I'm sick to death of them!
You can't teach talent & genius! Great comedians & writers don't come along every day. The people who wrote this grew up in the 1940s and 1950s listening to the greats on radio & watching them on TV (Benny, Hope, Ball, Silvers, Marx etc.). Something 'broke down' in the late '60s & '70s with Norman Lear et. al. pushing the envelope into promiscuity (homo & hetero), social 'issues' and political correctness. TV doesn't laugh anymore-it offends or preaches PC sermons and neither is funny.
"I only wanna' go if I am wanted." "Well, I don't wanna' force myself on ya'." I have heard that many times before, in real life. What a riot, and so true to life!!!
Oh that look on her face at the very end, makes me soooo glad I never married! LOL

It is all about how much Epsom Salt he just pours in the pan and Mama's response - the funniest part of the sketch. I love it.

Hilarious! The way Eunice looks like she is going to murder Ed when he gets back! What a funny way to end this skit.
AlbieGray 3 years ago 2
Mama: Eunice, may I assume that you're not gonna get my epsom salt any time here in the near future?
Eunice: Can't you see that Ed and I are in the midst of a personal crisis?
Mama: So what else is new?

@meilee44 Unfortunatly reality shows are the wave of the future. They already have killed off daytime soaps....

Great characters, great acting, great writing.
It shocks me that the people who've been creating the talentless dreck on TV for so many years actually grew up watching this.
Didn't they learn anything from watching the Carol Burnett Show all those years before??

@EndCredulity Not so hard to believe when you realize that those same people have forgotten the meaning of "talent".
