  • they are so adorable

  • cool chow chow

  • When I speak about chocolates, its not about chows, its only an example to explain how two recessiv colours can bring back the dominant black if her combination brings back the 4 dominant genes of black : A E B D. I never saw a chocolate chow, a shade of chocolate due to sun exposure has nothing to do with genetics !

  • the chow is thinking dont make me sit on you:)

  • @Chowboy767 LOL XD

  • Beautiful Chow Chows.

We recently lost our Mei Ling to stomach cancer and we are trying to find another Chow Chow to love and give a wonderful home to. We live in northren Idaho and we are wondering if anyone knows of a breeder or someone that raises them. We would prefer a black female.

    Marian

  • @baileyboy223 what a sad news, my chow Beto have a tumor in his spleen. Tomorrow the doctor is gonna make him a surgery i´m very worried.

  • awww!!!!

  • no need to worry people, they are just black cotton balls :)

  • Some people here say that black must be an recessiv colour. That is wrong ! Both cream and red are recessiv to black. Cream is recessiv homozygous ee but is also AA. A red chow-chow may be an agouti and is that case is ayayEE. When you combine AAee with ayayEE you get the dominant genes of black : AayEe. Its the same when you combine chocolate (bbDD) with blue (BBdd), you get blacks (BbDd) whitch are carriers of chocolate, blues, and of course lilac (bbdd)

  • @pantarhei75 there are only five colors chocolates are blacks that have been neglected and left outside with no shelter for long periods of time in the sun. The two dominate colors are Black and Red then Cinnamon,(Which can be differentiated in two ways from Reds one when Reds are born they have a mask while cinnamon's tend to have a almost pinkish hue. Then there are the two recessive colors and therefore rare which is cream and blue in both cases they are lighter shades of Black and Red.

  • It's a genetic thing. Chow Chows are one of the oldest breed of dogs and sometimes their genes from way back can appear in newer generations, hence the colours which can appear from completely different-coloured parents.

  • the only thing bad about a chow is that they live short lives. hard to see them die so soon.

  • @coolstory92 Are you fuckin immortal? These dogs live for about 12-15 years and even longer sometimes.

  • @coolstory92 Hi coolstory92, my chow chow Simba is 13 years old. He has degenerative myelopathy and still going strong. I'm amazed at his determination. I have him on lots of immune building vitamins, gluclosamine chondroitin, MSM, and 15 mg of prednesone given daily.

He still likes his walks (5-10 minutes at a time on grass every other day) and loves to chase small animals if he can get to them). Veterinarians are surprised to see he has lived so long.

  • Chow Chow pups are the cutest animals on Earth, by far....

  • LOVE LOVELOVE LOVE

  • duuuude thats awesome! none of my dogs puppies looked like my chow chow exept one which is a minuature version of it

  • So, it happens the same as Labradors?? that both cream labrador parents can have black, cream and chocolate labs?? genetics are one interesting thing..!

  • these pups should be placed in a Disney movie. they are really smart. look at them. they are wonderful puppys. great bone structure, must be a good blood line. they seem to take directions very well. i saw a albino once. i was in chili in 98. my friends lived there and each summer i would go over and visit. they were very well to do. i was just some lucky kid to have freinds like this,,:) i sure do miss my dogs and bird. its just a damn shame,,:(

  • I used to be scared of dogs BECAUSE of Chows, this breed made me scared of dogs because they did not look like dogs to me, they looked like lions or a bear when I was little. My Grandad and my real father owned them and I was nothing but a scared bundle of nerves when they came around, black chows scared me more than the red colored ones. I did get over my fear though and my family owns a poodle terrier mix and he is very loving, he loves everybody.

  • Are babys black and then change to brown?? =)

  • i think the mom was cheating....

  • lol, they look like little black bears running around :)

  • >.> check the black dog next door.. i think someone is cheating

  • cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute

  • Aww. They took like little bears.

  • omg they born on 07/07/07!!!!

  • lol i wonder if the mother cheated on the father :P JK JK! VERY CUTE PUPPY =) !!! Love chow chow

  • i LOVE these dogs! They're so puffy and cute!

  • How can baby chow be so dark? the mother is Yellow brown??

  • awwwwe! i want one! They are so cute(:

  • hehe cute...

  • how many puppies are there?

  • They are beautiful! its amazing how red and cream chow chows can make black pups :)) are chows hard to raise and train? cuz im thinking of getting a pup but i heard they can be a bit weary of strangers. I dont want a dog thats gonna bite ppl that try to pet her :O any advice plz? :)

  • @minkdevil it's all in how you train it. if the dog goes vicious, then it wasn't trained proporly or it came from bad breeding. go to a shelter.

  • @minkdevil I have had a lot of experience with Chows and did a lot of research too. If you haven't had dogs before, don't start with a Chow, They can be a handful and dangerous if you don't properly train, socialize and introduce them to everyone when puppies, including cats and especially other dogs. They are very intelligent but CAN'T be bribed easily with treats. This is a breed thousands of years old. Read on their history and you can see why it takes Chows a long time to trust people.

  • lol at when the mother runs at the end "i gotta take a vacation from these kids". the puppies are soo cute.

  • i love your adult show, the problem with mine is that shes isnt big and doesnt have that much hair even though shes fully pure. i just love your chow thanks for the vid.

  • che carini

  • There so cute!

  • OMG!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh so cute

  • lol i named my Khaki

  • Fatzombie1980, you must have had a Fail then

I was raised from the age of 2 with at least one Chow Chow in my home at all times; they are super loving if you train them well.

Any dog is a bad family dog if you don't train them; i NEVER had an issue with any of my Chows

(The main man stepped on his Foot once but he just barked a few times)

  • do they have motion sickness??

    and do they like water??

  • hehe they look like tiny fur balls

    so cute:)

  • They are extremely territorial dogs. And if, by "family," you mean "good with small children," then no, they typically aren't. They can be temperamental and even aggressive if annoyed. They're not good dogs for inexperienced dog owners, nor for those who just want them because they look cute.

Any purebred dog comes with its own set of quirks, and a responsible person would do well to research before getting one.

  • how weird....

  • Puppys!!! ^(^_^)^

  • Cream father+ red mother= black puppies???? Oh no it looks as if Scrabbles might have stepped out on Fred!

  • chow grow so big i saw one at park and it was huge

    I hate that i can't have a dog :(

  • OMG YOU DO!? How does it look like??? I have an alaskan huskey and used to have a black chow (RIP u.u). I've always wondered how would a puppy of both look like x3

  • It looks awesome! She's so cute! Used to have half black, half pink tongue but now it's all black (or purple).

  • hahaha! I bet! I've seen those kind of crossed puppies and they look all weird XD yet so cute AND PLAYFUL!!

  • omg, if i got a chow chow puppy, i would want it to stay a puppy FOREVER!

  • iv got a chow chow

  • that's pure genetic, chow chow are sooo cute when they're puppies...

  • watch the vid of my chow chow please

  • Maybe the pups dont have the daddy you think they do.

  • wierd. how could you get black puppies out of a cream father and a red mother?

  • My dog (and his sister) is totally black but his father is light brown and his mother white. So, no wierd, it's NATURAL...

  • A lot of puppies' colors actually come from the grandmother dogs (or the parent's mother and father). :3 It's just how the genetics works. I'm pretty sure it's the same for cats as well.

The puppies were so cute~ x3

  • most dogs with different color variety in the breed can have multi colored pups... like in Lab's 2 yellow labs can breed and some of the pups can be yellow, chocolate, and black no matter what. My Boston Terriers are both seal but their son was black and white with no seal or brindle.

  • the puppies look like black fluffy balls moving around

  • nice dogs :D

  • its like follow the leader...:P

  • Sweet,and i have got 2 dog chow chow

  • they are sooooo cute n fluffy iam wantin one of these dogs or a chinese akita when iam older they are soooooo adroable u cant stress how adroable they really are !

  • It's like a lion dog!

  • Chow puppies are the cutest! They look just like little bears! I have an 8 year old black female chow named Princess. I love her!

  • i ahve two 4 year old chow chows : )

  • It's a bunch of miny scooby's! RIP scooby i love you!

  • OMG! They are sooooo cute!

  • How'd you get ALL black pups from a creamxred pairing? Strange! lol

  • Yes, how do we know about genetics... I try to study and learn, the answer was the cream one is a black, only with a different color! hehehe I just think it's very interesting! Thank you

  • @Clerice the answer is that eighter the mother or the father had a dog in theyr pedigreee that had a more proeminant gene for the colour black and it could have been "asleep" and when u paired these 2(current parrents) they activated that gene and u got only black :D easy genetics from med univ

  • @Clerice This must e some kind of mutation or something man, I don't mean a mutation like x-man now, just a genetic one.

  • @Clerice i have a black labrador chow chow cross from a orange chow and white labrador.

  • @Clerice Black must be the recessive gene :), when the parents mated they both must of had the recessive black gene, and all these pups had them. Or the other parent was black :)

  • @kaoslante The maildog

  • @kaoslante Not strange at all, there are many decedents from each parent and they could have a lot of black dogs in their line, thus a lot of black puppies.

  • @kaoslante MOM WAS "BEACH" GONE WHIT BLACK LABRADOR BECAUSE OF BIGGER STUFF !!!

  • i had a chow but he died and now i dont know where i can find another one to buy i never see them anywhere!! anyone know of a way to find them?

  • they look like little bear cubs! haha so cutee!!!

  • Chow Chows were used as food by humans a long time ago. If you dont belive search in google. Humans used to eat their best friends. How sick is that!!!!

  • all kinds of animals, yes including dogs, have been used for food throughout history, particularly during famines.

  • how cute, hope they have long happy lives:)

  • lol!! are you serrious? thats really funny. but i bet the dog is really cute.

  • soooooooo cute they are so pretty.....oh god...think am gonna cry i miss my doggies snif snif

  • oh my goodness i love your pups! I had some exactly the same and the daddy was also a red! makes me melancholic! i miss my pups!

  • How did a cream and a red make black??

  • Good question. We made a research and the cream actually carries the black gene. He is a black with a cream coat!!!! Amazing...!

  • I better not be seeing these little guys on the Maury show looking for paternity tests soon :p

  • @Clerice thats pretty intresting

  • the mother actually had thought of that. "how come all my kids are black?"

  • thats a good question i used to breed my red and black chow and they had 1 cream every litter but most were black and red

  • haha, i have a chow but its a b rown and not a black, im from philippines, i wish i also have a backyard, coz she is just staying in house..........

  • is black the recessive allele?

  • I would think the black would be the recessive allele and the brown/cream the dominant allele. I'm not sure on this but judging by most of the chow's ive seen are brown or cream i would think black is recessive.

  • I miss my black chow, Neph... These puppies are GORGEOUS!!

  • i've never seen a black chow chow.

  • I have one of those!
