I Have an 06 monte ss and the 5.3 and the car are very under rated speed wise. GM Claims 0-60 in 5.4 seconds stock. See the web site. This guy lit the tires up on take off. Suprisingly for a front wheel drive car it will smoke the tires pretty good. havnt done much with mine at all, just some flowmasters, resonator delete and K&N intake. maybe freed up 15 horespower... but i hang with my buddies 08 GT mustang stick no problem. LS4 is under rated in my opinion
Well the '08 Mustang GT runs at 300HP, the 06 Monte SS runs at 303, with your mods you might be running at 315, so it'd be a pretty even match, he has the advantage of RWD and stick, not sure if the Mustang is lighter though.
I don't think the LS4 was ever an underrated engine, people were just put off by it because it's in a FWD car. The only thing FWD lacks that RWD makes up for is handling, otherwise FWD cars can be made to be nearly as fast as RWD, take the fastest 3800 V6 FWD 1/4 mile time at 8.6 seconds.

Well, that's confusing because most of the 0-60 stats I've seen for the n/a 3.8 SS are mid-8 second runs. Whereas most of the stats I'm seeing for the 5.3 V8 stake it at about 6 seconds flat.
I'm not trying to argue, but 200HP vs. 300HP in virtually the same vehicle...there's no doubt which one's faster. Plus, it depends on the driver, too, and in this case, he spun his tires until he got up to 50 MPH. Does that imply that that is the fastest 0-60 time he could get? Of course not.
how on earth did you get 7.5??? this is under the 6 second mark. He doesn't even launch the car until the timer displays 2 seconds and hits 60 before 8 seconds.

Only thing that makes me curious is how the car jumps immediately to 45 MPH, and then spends another 3 seconds or so speeding up to 60.

it's because the control traction is off, when the traction wheels start to spin, the velocimeter show you ther speed of wheels, so until the wheels don't get traction, it will show error read

Any car drops off after it shifts into 2nd gear. You called this car slow because it takes 10 seconds to get to 90. But for being a 4 speed auto this car isn't slow at all is what i'm getting at. An average car of 300 hp takes around this amount of time. This car can actually hit mid 13's very lightly modded. The Impala has always been a very practical car and considering it's virtually the same thing as the monte, i'd have to disagree.

with over 300hp i assure you that every w.o.t. hole shot roasts the tires to about 45 mph on the speedo. When the needle slightly drops back is when it hooks. in cold weather it will break the tires free going over 30 mph :) but it won't hold fisrt gear so it always shifts too soon and is really hard on the drive train. i wish there was a way to lock in 1st gear, i have a flash tuner and there is not an option for that.
you must have been in snow cuz theres no possible way you can get 0-40 in a second, thats what happens with new cars, you can floor it in the snow, and the speedometer will read 90mph and you feel like your going 5 mph

I just bought a 06 monte carlo ss, and my wife said almost the same thing, slow the f down or drop me off. I nailed it on the on ramp of the freeway up 110mph. kind of funny.
