It can actually. Involve hallucinations as you get older the disease changes with you and it evolves. Meds stop working etc. it's a cancer of the mind. Biological and so you can't get rid of it....ever not if it's true OCD and severe enough or treatment resistant (mine is)
@Elewyn cannabis calms ocd effects.. thats the only med ive ever taken for it and im getting better all the time,, obviously still have real bad days but instead of constant ocd, with cannabis it makes it a partial ocd.. where you can look at something and think fuck it i'll sort it later... OCD still has a big part when you get round to sorting it but it makes it so you dont have to do it there & then
@diffnature no.. you must be an idiot to think that.. it is just a representation of whats its like... imagine you notice a wonky picture... all you can think of is fixing it & thats all your minds focused on so its like someone just standing there constantly having a go at you until you do something about it which is why we have to do things even if we dont want to
There many different ocd thought processes, this is not one of mine..my thoughts scare me, and cause great distress, and are very difficult to live with...ocd = torcher...
I think OCD is misdiagnosed for basic intelligence. All the people shown with OCD are all incredibly intelligent. It involves higher awareness--a quality which most humans lack.
@ladybirdskaterboy fuck you, first of all this isn't OCD its anal retentiveness (but the sentiment is basically the same just on a much bigger scale) second of all OCD can be extremely funny. if you don't believe me watch as good as it gets, or any episode of monk. It can also be fun to relate to others with and share awkward circumstances. Like the time I got trapped in the bathroom at a local grocery store and I couldn't open the door with my foot, and i didn't have any tissue.

@Eididfarah The video isn't very good at describing it, but basically, it's like, hm. Okay, so the guy saw a squint picture frame, and it started nagging him, distracting him until he eventually had to give in because it was driving him insane.

if im working on tall buildings or even sight seeing cliffs etc i fear i may jump even though i really dont want to. i also have this thought that i may slap or punch someone who im talking with and visualize. at times it will get so uncomforting that i will step back from the person and put my hands in my pockets. im very social but choose to live alone so i can have relief from my thought patterns involving people. i loathe the thought of taking drugs but will if this gets worse.

I'm constantly thinking about my nose and have a perpetual, strong desire to keep checking and touching it in the mirror even in the middle of conversations like this. It's worse than the most extreme ADD. On top of that, I'm constantly organizing/cleaning and can't function if my nails aren't all perfectly filed. I have twitches too.
I used to say Amen to my family 5 times in my bed before I went to sleep (they didn't hear or know). I couldn't stop, and I kept thinking, what the FUCK is wrong with me? And suddenly it stopped and then something else came up. When I was lying in bed and my shiny router was rotated in a way my brain didn't like, I had to get up from the bed and fix it. And then when he fixes the frame, is his way of dealing with them.
so i get this thing where ill count 1,2,3,1 or 1,2,3,4,5,1,2,3,1 and sometimes its even more complex than that. and i get this at least 50 times a day where ill have to stop doing whatever im doing and look at something for 1,2,3,1 or 1,2,3,4,5,1,2,3,1 seconds (it sounds sort of confusing) or twitch my head that many times or something. its gotten worse where now i stare at ppl for that many seconds or do these rituals in public. its kind of mild now, but should i see a doctor?

@UndercoverCracker partially true but not the case with everyone who has it though.. Gotta remember that some people are so severe that doing more w their time doesn't matter. Some people don't have it as bad as others. It's all about how strong the urge is. That has a lot to do with brain chemistry

@metathus that means you dont have it as bad as other people. Could be wrong though. I have it too and its driving me INSANE....twitch..twitch. Kidding, but i do have it and best of luck to you.
@Phantomnano1 Well, I have it bad when I am by myself. There have been times where I coulndt get to sleep for like 2 hours just because I counldnt do my OCD right. It was crippling for a long time, but then I started drinking alcohol. I know its not a good solution, but it makes me forget about a lot of my OCD.
@Phantomnano1 I like to keep everything around me in order. I'll be having a conversation, and then I'll move away to fix something that looks out of order or messy. And in college during lecture, I can't help but put all my papers and notebooks in perfect straight lines. If you pay attention to the way I write, then you will notice that I have perfect grammar and spelling. I am obsessed with setting things to be perfect!
That's straight up me when I go ta bed and then I end up seeing something on my t.v.but not on the other side,I have to go down of my bunk bed then fix it then use the bathroom again.../:-
I had problems. I did a full urine test and turned positive for strange substances. I believe my food was contaminated and I changed the place I ate and problems receded. Not saying everyone is the same.
GOOGLE A COMPANY CALLED MAGNETIC PILL! THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE FOR THE BRAIN AND CALMING EVERYTHING!! PLEASE READ UP ON IT! CURED MY BROTHER COMPLETELY OF OCD! HE IS A NEW MAN!
I had problems. I did a full urine test and turned positive for strange substances. I believe my food was contaminated and I changed the place I ate and problems receded. Not saying everyone is the same.
thanks for the advice. it's hard to explain, but in a way I like being like this. it's all I know. sometimes I want out. I guess I have to figure out what I want first.
@bugsbunnybuddy I know exactly what you mean!!!! Like, it would be so weird if it changed, like a part of you is missing? Because this is who you are?? I feel the EXACT same way. I hate my OCD, but I can't imagine life without it!
my doctor said that I have borderline OCD. I was so nervous i couldn't tell him that it is worse than what he thought. anyway, we have to swim in gym. I got my dr to sign a note saying I don't have to swim. I can't because pools are bacteria infested and even the thought of swimming can throw me in panic attaks. is this a lame excuse not to swim?
@bugsbunnybuddy I can't fully comprehend what it feels like to you but I do know that you can overcome almost anything. The only reason you wont be able to overcome something is if you let yourself down. This sounds harsh but not all advice in life is next to a texted smiley face. You just have to push yourself, maybe not all at once but you know, take it slowly. Let me know how it goes, I'll be rooting for you. (also, prayer has goten me through a lot of my problems)
I like the principle you used. It definately relates to circumstances I try to avoid ocd and it only makes the thought come back stronger and more fierce
@skaro85 hard without psych sessions. I've tried.. its conter-productive trying to fix it because the more you try rationalise with yourself the more OCD fights back and makes you feel worse then when you started off..and even if you finally do (and feel shit because of it) every time is just as hard as the last...it doesn't get any easier and it should. Its like trying to cure ocd is a full time job. cant handle that and studying... so I pretty much do what is says
I am with you.It is frustrating and depressing at times. You might have heard about simple, but hard to accomplish technique rejecting and ignoring continuous/ fearful/repetitive thoughts. Let me simplify this. Imagine drawing a bridge. With each line drawn,it appears stronger and prominent. Right? And now is a HARDEST part.TAKE an ERASER and start rubbing it out line by line. There are things that triggers obsessive behaviour and by ignoring ('rubbing out') them the OCD bridge can be destroyed
everytime i feel anxious from my ocd i feel the hairs on my back are standing up and like im every where and i feel extremely stressed and there's this black guy in a tutu or w/e and he's yelling hey at me until i count something to 20 or crack my knuckles or w/e else
I think, this is me to the t, I have had intruding thought about reliogon though, and they come all the time and I find my self checking stuff too. Or I may have the symptons
my ocd's name is adam snow, esquire. he's a mildly attractive but sneaky and weasely guy who likes to follow close behind me and snicker and jump around. not true. but almost.
I think I might have ocd...when I touch something on one side I have to touch it on the other... Like if I scratch my right arm I have to scratch my left... Or it feels weird
If someone did that while I was talking to them I wouldn't glare and shake my head at them. Bitches always gotta talk about themselves and get pissed when they can't.
I can't sleep! it's 12:51 and I have a game at 7 am! I keep thinkning about going back to school. I'm really scared to go after break because of all the germs from so many people! I really want to wash my hands but I just did. I think my OCD like symptoms got worse!
there is more than one type of way to act with OCD. it can be doing things multiple times, avoiding things, etc. but one thing NOBODY ever mentions is getting things! i have ocd and i HAVE to get what i want WHEN i want it. anyone else like that?
@Werewolfmist same here i have ocd i'm pretty sure but i also get kind of depressed when i want something and can't get it i also get very agressive it's very weird i'm not being a spoilt brat it's just how i am o.O
@themousemaster i know right! i have a walk in closet FULL of stuffed animals. it's not cuz i'm spoiled. it's cuz i NEED it.... glad you understand! :) and yeah i can get agressive and angry too. and overly protective...
@Werewolfmist not raelly, but i do have this recurring obsession where i imgine myself freaking out and having a hissy fit over something i want because i remember myself doing that when i was really really little once, so I HATE THE WORD "WANT" and everything someone asks, "do you want this?" i have to either be really unsure or say no or else i'll start to feel awkward and sick. so weird... but yeah, i guess that doesn't have much to do with yuor statement, but yeah that sounds like an ocd.
@appletinihamshire yeah that could be ocd. omg there are soooo many kinds of ocd! i like it when someone asks me if i want something! i have sooo much stuff already due to ocd, but i feel that is still need MORE! so yeah.... thx for sharing.
i have OCD and im 12 in 6 grade and it's a little hard but ive been trying to control myself, what i do is everything has to be perfect, like when im at school i have a pen in my folder and it has to be strait or it will just bother me all day.And when someone forgets to turn off a light or something else i want to turn it off but when it's in school and church i can't but the feeling of wanting to turn it off goes away
@Lumeveraja its not brain disease .its behavioral learning ,,,some people may be geneticaly more vulnerable to develop ocd habits but that doesnt make it uncurable
@yellow6100 If a person is genetically vulnerable to develop severe OCD habits, doesn't that practically mean that the person has a brain disease? After all, a mental disease/illness is one that hinders everyday functioning, so it's not a black/white thing. I do agree/know that OCD is treatable, but that does not make it any less a disease.
(Also, atherosclerosis is not a cardiac disease, it's caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. Some people just are more vulnerable to it.)
I am trying to figure out if I have OCD. everytime someone touches me I have to touch that spot. sometimes even objects that touch me and sometimes even myself. and the constant thoughts. they prevent me from sleeping a lot. the most annoying part is that the its the same thoughts. what do you think?
@bugsbunnybuddy mines similar if i breath on a sertain bad of my body il hav to blow or breath on the other! or if i stand on a stone with one foot i have to stand on another stone with the other foot! i count things evrywer i go and my favourite numer is five so if im counting and it lands in five in happy! i also hav sleeples nights thinkin the same thoughts over and over and im diagnosed with osd.
I don't know if this works, but OCD feeds off of fear, but comes back with revenge. Tell yourself you don't want revenge, meditate on what I have just said. Tell yourself you don't want revenge, explain that might be revenge is not intended to be it. You simple do it for fun, and not revenge. It may seem as if it were revenge, but is not what you wish for. Deep breathing while doing this helps. Example: Playing video games, and getting revenge unintentionally. Repost somewhere else if it work
I don't think that one can 'be OCD'. You can HAVE OCD, which means you have a disorder, but you can't BE a disorder, unless we're going to bend the definition of being something, and bend the definition of a disorder. Just thought I would throw that out there.
Getting treatment and just confessing one has OCD is very embarrassing and difficult, specially when you've got uncareing comments from poeple. For example comidian Kathy Griffin has a skit called the OCD Project in which she calls people with OCD "crazy" and laughs at them. To her it's simply funny but she is obviously unable to sympathize or empathize. It's because of people like her making spiteful, hurtufull, mean bullying comments that keep people hiding their OCD, living in denial.
eh kind of true... I actually did this. Plus as a joke, my friends always do this stuff. Write things in a non legible manner, put things out of order for me to reorganize. One time, when I eat I like to have my meals in a specific order & if I eat on a tray the items on my tray are organized. One day my friends decided to rearrange all my stuff on my tray when I went to grab a fork, I came back and I noticed as soon as I was about to eat. I had to rearrange everything back to how I like it.
@LunaLovegood33 No, I don't think think think so. I honestly don't believe that such thing exists. with all due penis. I mean respect spect spect. Tell me, do people with OCD have paranoia as well? Or is it just episodes of wanting to shake their heads multiple times?or repeating themselves? I would like to know much, but i really don't believe in depression and OCD. Because if you do have it, then there has to be a trigger to it. Everything happens for a reason you know. reply.
@rootvalue That's exactly why I am here. you see people with OCD are also smart. I'm learning new stuff all the time. wow. I'm gonna go and lock my door three times and then smash something with my foot.
It can actually. Involve hallucinations as you get older the disease changes with you and it evolves. Meds stop working etc. it's a cancer of the mind. Biological and so you can't get rid of it....ever not if it's true OCD and severe enough or treatment resistant (mine is)

TheDingBat47 8 months ago
@UndercoverCracker partially true but not the case with everyone who has it though.. Gotta remember that some people are so severe that doing more w their time doesn't matter. Some people don't have it as bad as others. It's all about how strong the urge is. That has a lot to do with brain chemistry

And in college during lecture, I can't help but put all my papers and notebooks in perfect straight lines. my doctor said that I have borderline OCD. I was so nervous i couldn't tell him that it is worse than what he thought. anyway, we have to swim in gym. I got my dr to sign a note saying I don't have to swim. I can't because pools are bacteria infested and even the thought of swimming can throw me in panic attaks. is this a lame excuse not to swim?
bugsbunnybuddy 10 months ago
@bugsbunnybuddy I can't fully comprehend what it feels like to you but I do know that you can overcome almost anything. The only reason you wont be able to overcome something is if you let yourself down. This sounds harsh but not all advice in life is next to a texted smiley face. You just have to push yourself, maybe not all at once but you know, take it slowly. Let me know how it goes, I'll be rooting for you. (also, prayer has goten me through a lot of my problems)

@MissPonderosa so true! so true! i have ocd and have this problem. what can we do? how can we stop it from coming back stronger and more fierce?
skaro85 11 months ago

@Werewolfmist not raelly, but i do have this recurring obsession where i imgine myself freaking out and having a hissy fit over something i want because i remember myself doing that when i was really really little once, so I HATE THE WORD "WANT" and everything someone asks, "do you want this?" i have to either be really unsure or say no or else i'll start to feel awkward and sick. so weird... but yeah, i guess that doesn't have much to do with yuor statement, but yeah that sounds like an ocd.

i have OCD and im 12 in 6 grade and it's a little hard but ive been trying to control myself, what i do is everything has to be perfect, like when im at school i have a pen in my folder and it has to be strait or it will just bother me all day.And when someone forgets to turn off a light or something else i want to turn it off but when it's in school and church i can't but the feeling of wanting to turn it off goes away

MrSubmitter 1 year ago
@MrSubmitter Lol, religiosity doesn't cause OCD. It's a possibly genetic brain disease.
Lumeveraja 11 months ago
@Lumeveraja its not brain disease .its behavioral learning ,,,some people may be geneticaly more vulnerable to develop ocd habits but that doesnt make it uncurable
yellow6100 11 months ago 2
@yellow6100 If a person is genetically vulnerable to develop severe OCD habits, doesn't that practically mean that the person has a brain disease? After all, a mental disease/illness is one that hinders everyday functioning, so it's not a black/white thing. I do agree/know that OCD is treatable, but that does not make it any less a disease.
(Also, atherosclerosis is not a cardiac disease, it's caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. Some people just are more vulnerable to it.)
Lumeveraja 11 months ago
I am trying to figure out if I have OCD. everytime someone touches me I have to touch that spot. sometimes even objects that touch me and sometimes even myself. and the constant thoughts. they prevent me from sleeping a lot. the most annoying part is that the its the same thoughts. what do you think?
bugsbunnybuddy 1 year ago
@bugsbunnybuddy Yep, sounds like it to me. I have OCD and I have to touch things a certain amount of times and a certain way.

Repost somewhere else if it work
Dsmbr03 1 year ago
I don't think that one can 'be OCD'. You can HAVE OCD, which means you have a disorder, but you can't BE a disorder, unless we're going to bend the definition of being something, and bend the definition of a disorder. Just thought I would throw that out there.
rootvalue 1 year ago
Getting treatment and just confessing one has OCD is very embarrassing and difficult, specially when you've got uncareing comments from poeple. For example comidian Kathy Griffin has a skit called the OCD Project in which she calls people with OCD "crazy" and laughs at them. To her it's simply funny but she is obviously unable to sympathize or empathize. It's because of people like her making spiteful, hurtufull, mean bullying comments that keep people hiding their OCD, living in denial.
idavidsawyer 1 year ago
eh kind of true...
