Besides it was correct: We Swedes didnt fight that well in the 1740's, 50's, 60's conflicts.

The Swedes, though we did indeed have a proud military tradition with plenty victories, there were a long period of peace between 1720 up to the 40's Russo-Swedish war and later 50's Seven year war. Not to mention Gustaf II Adolf (Lion of the North) and Charles XII was dead and gone. :)

in this war the prussians won battles, the austrians won battles, the russians won battles, the french won one battle. the swedes lost all their battles(which is quite the surprise considering how experienced and well equipped their army is, but i guess paying their soldiers really low wages has a negative effect in how they perform)

I was thinking about translation of the segment about the French king, doesn't it mean that the French pay their king with luxuries, not that the king pays his soldiers with it? I'm not a German speaker though.

@MartieD The French king pays his soldiers with luxury. German has a very flexible sentence structure, and who does what to whom is based more on the tense of the words in question rather than their order in the sentence.

I'd suggest you stick closest to the literal translation: The Swedish have cursed (damned) bad money!

Furthermore, I would stick to your original translation of: und das Römische Reich gegen mich revoltiert. (the empress is the one who instigates the revolt)
