  • The song let us think about modern time, when returning soldiers, exposed to cruelties at war that had a deep effect on them, at their return home, continue acting the same way in civil life... A medieval mind could not comprehend, in my opinion, such a drastic change of character... so an evil character is included , and who? - a Mother -in -law, of course...

  • When he returns home, believing his mother's stories, it 's his wife who meets him... He’s so enraged that he starts a savage and bloody punishment at the spur of the moment, without even asking for explanations... Looks like kids were included in this carnage. The most tragic story I ever heard in folk songs...

  • That’s one of the best in Dakha-Brakha’s repertoire. A dark medieval story of acrid animosity between a mother-in-law (who is evil) and her daughter-in-law while her husband is out for a 7-year long Kozak war... The mother-in-law wrote bad news to his son, telling him (it's a lie) that at his absence, his wife waisted all his estate for drugs (spent for drinking)...

  • мощно
