As an owner of one of these cars, I abslolutely love it. I have the 6 spd and 2.5 4 cyl and it gets 34 on the highway, drives through 12 inches of snow like its nothing, and a Montana morning at 20 degrees below zero doesnt even phase it.
The Subaru is the better choice - these cars last forever. I've seen them with 400.000 miles being handed down to family members as coveted gifts. Camry and Accords get stuck on icy roads but the Subaru's just motor on like it's a hot summer's day.
Cars.com should use a standard format when evaluating cars. Where did we hear about the mechanicals? Boxer engine, symmetrical all wheel drive, cvt automatic transmission that is more efficient than the manual, superior crash test ratings, lower center of gravity, etc. Least substance in a review I've ever seen. I hope he volunteers his time, otherwise Cars.com is getting ripped off.
If you need it capabilities? Really, you don't need all wheel drive until you NEED all wheel drive. Driving down the road and hit a puddle, black ice, or oil then you'll wish you had all wheel drive as you go skidding into on coming traffic with your kids in the car!!!
Great value. You get standard AWD , impressive reliability, and the best crash test scores, yet it costs either the same, or even less than the competition!
incorrect review strategy. if your considering this car it is because subaru and jeep are the only people that will let you bundle a cool looking car with awd and standard trans. people who consider this car probably dont want a more family sedan like accord or Camry.
Wow, I'm so glad I watched this biased ass review 10 hours AFTER I bought my Legacy. This guy should be reviewing either video games, pc games, computers, or smart phones lol. I'm VERY VERY VERY content with my purchase.
I don't know why so many people are upset with somewhat negative review about legacy. I'm pretty sure most of you guys haven't tried both camry and legacy because the difference is huge. your opinions lack the evidence. I have tried them both. I assure you camry has superior handling, it's smoother and delivers outstanding overall driving experience compared to legacy. I didn't find anything remarkable about legacy worth to write about.
Continued: There's a reason Subarus have higher used resale value than many other manufacturers. They don't *NEED* that long warranty to last well into 150k+ miles with minimal repairs.
Everyone has their opinions, and they're entitled to that. However, I'll stick with Subaru for AWD & overall dependability.
The problem with a lot of cars today is that most people compare the bread & butter features (push button start, auto darkening mirrors, etc) of cars to make their decision.. features that just add to the amount of things that can go wrong.
What they're missing is the fact that Subarus have long term reliability. The "reliability" in some other manufacturers (hyundai, honda) comes in the form of long warranties, so when it does break, you can get it fixed for free.
Compare this to a 2008 Honda Accord, you'll find this to have better gas milage, better option packages, and AWD. Great value. You could get one of these w/ heated cloth seats, heated mirrors, and windshield wiper de-icer for around $24,000.
I think Kelsey Mays is a good reviewer. It seems that these negative comments from wievers are completely biased! Is he not American looking enough? Not that Americans know anything about cars.

Fuck this guy... he clearly is a white-bread when it comes to cars. A Camry is sooooo bland and plain compared to a Subaru. I, as a matter of fact own a 2010 Subaru Legacy in the sleek black. It's great in all aspects...
With Subaru associated with Gay and Lesbians, I wouldn't be caught dead in one. I predict their downfall very soon, due to their supporting perverted behavior.

Some other cars in this segment? Why don't you name them dickwad, don't you know them? Go back to your mom's house.
@cate502 The legacy beats the camry and accord in safety by a long shot and has very comparable mpg (23/31, as compared to the Accord's 22/31 and the Camrys 22/33). Personally, I also prefer the styling of the Legacy as well, besides the fact that it's price is very comparable (my mom took home her automatic Legacy with the harmin-kardon audio system, heated seats, cargo tray and rearview mirror for 22.5k last night in white and it's great looking).
@Windgrace yeah subaru is awesome jst don't talk shit on honda awd all the time cars are horrible on everything gas brakes they jst wear everything out quickly not an opinion a fact
Its because he can't afford it. Subaru dealers don't really compete for customers. You can either buy it or you can't. Many people can't afford them, so they go Toyota, Honda or Ford, because financing is better, not cars.

U rubbish frog, how do u know what i have? I bought it new from dealer and it is really disappointing when u have a subaru legacy new and fuking tranny makes me angry driver, a made a search in a google and it's not me alone,
@83ls I totally agree. I just got a 2010 Accord auto trans and it's very jerky especially in the lower gears. My econo 01 Civic had seamless shifting but what's up with the tranny on this Accord?? I can achieve smoother shifting with a stick-shift.

Anyone that prefers a Camry (which is a nice car) is obviously not a driving enthusiast. I never seem to enjoy any of his reviews no matter which car he's reviewing. I think with him, the glass is always half empty.
Should've had someone that liked this car do the review. Everything he says is like "the Legacy is a good car BUT.." This car deserves more credit than that!
i'm really starting to hate this guy.... he's always putting honda and toyota in front of subaru.... this legacy rocksssssssssss.... plus we never talks about the super handling on the legacy
I just test drove this car, and average mpg, cvt version showed 33-34mpg at 70mph on flat highway. Steady speed. Did anyone else get this, or was that a super efficient Subaru. My plan is to get this car in a couple of years.
I guess GOVT rating is when you climb a mountain in Colorado. They rated it at 31mpg.
The new Toyota sports car, code named FT86 which is a rear wheel drive car, has a Subaru boxer motor...Why you may ask? Because boxer engines are proven to be more efficient which leads to the longevity of the engine. Look at Porsche as an example...
This guy does not know anything about cars and how to review them properly. He needs to stay in a cubicle. Leave to car reviews to individuals that do the research.
i have 08 fusion and its sucks,,, i dont thing new one much better i used to have 04 forester and it was great car, so i think this new legacy is really good!
In response to the bad ECU @ 2000 miles, every car maker has its quirks. Although i find it hard to believe that an ECU would go at such low mileage. I have had my legacy for 10 years and traveled 280,000 miles in the thing. I had to replace a transmission mound because of a minor accident, but other than that it has all been routine maitenance. But my Grandfathers 2007 Toyota Camry wound up with a cracked head after about 10,000 miles. See what i mean about quirks?
By what you pay, I mean in repairs over the life of the car. There is a reason why Volvo, BMW and Audi sell for less than Subaru, after 5 years of ownership. There are almost no repairs with Subarus. There are no problems with accessories, lights, broken power seats, car not starting, transmission quitting, ac not working, windows falling in the door, when raining, suspension breaking, etc, something you will find in VWs, Jeeps, Volvos, BMW and Audis, so called "well" engineered vehicles
I like this new Subaru. Kinda sceptical with the front headlamps but it donen't look too bad. I really dont know what the asian was smoking, but i would take a Legacy over anything today. I have a 1999 Legacy and i love it. Subaru's have always amazed me, and im not gonna listen to some crakhead-asian who tells me it sucks.
This faggot doesn't know what he's talking about. It's such a great car and is so much fun to drive, especially the GT version. He doesn't know a good car when he sees one. He probably can only afford a Kia. He's not crazy about this car because he can't appreciate it. I want to get one. This is a sweet car.
@greenblueprints He did another review on the Legacy and said... (This car is nice and all, but you would rather get a Honda Accord) If I ever met this guy, I would punch him right in the face so very hard.
Interior space is larger than Camry's, which always had the largest midsize interior. Quality and resale of Subarus have always been better than Honda or Toyota, but not as good as say their luxury brands, Lexus and Acura. But you get great gas mileage, 4wd, plenty of power and safety, and the car is gonna be worth 50% of what you paid for it in 5 years. Compare that to 20% you get with GM, Ford and Kias. Honda and Toyota also have good resale, but cars are too boring.
yes you could go out and buy a fusion or a malibu, but here are a few reasons you should not. 1.) The Subaru has a much better resale value than either. 2.) After 100k you will not be replacing the engine or trans like you would with ford or chevy junk.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
170hp with only 19/27 gas mpg? that sucks, and the two interiors shown for this car, the seats look so old-fashioned. My mom's 2002 Suzuki Wagon R+ had better cloth seats, and were alot more confortable
actually it's 23/31 for the cvt trans which is pretty much what most models will have in it. And yes your moms ride is nice too, I was checking out the interior of it when I was nailing her in it last night!
well thats a very stupid comeback cos a kia is small. its your fatass predator that couldnt fit in the back, and plus, your mom bangs me hard every night in the back of my crown vic, plenty of space. WASSUP!
@2fast4all Probably not. When Toyota took over Subaru, one of the main goals was to make Subaru profitable as well as more main stream. Versions like the STi only appeal to boy-racers that end up destroying components on the car and then making warranty claims agaist the manufacturor, so that's a big money looser. Little by little they are going to tone down the entire product line in favor of greater reliability tp attract more responsible drivers.
well the sale are up because the company was relatively small to begin with. You can only get better with a small company like Subaru. But they do have top reliability (better than toyota) and they are known for there amazing AWD system.
Exactly, the new one (shown here) is more boring than the camry. The Forrester is the best lookin in their fleet. I used to like the legacy, especially the GT. Oh well ........ hoffmeister kink ftw
perhaps, but it is one of the better looking subby's out there. The Impreza (ick). The Tribeca (ick) the new legacy (ick) note: the opinions above are simply regarding styling.
You cant talk trash (Not saying your talking trash) untill you see it up close and in person, just like the impreza. I have and i have to say its really nice.. trust me. I do agree with you tho fusion looks alot better but the legacys interior is better. As for the others you said, i dont trust gm anymore and accord deff doesnt look better.
Thats why i dont trust gm. I gave them a chance and bought the camaro and all it does is break on me... and its only 3 months old!!! -_-
My dads 04 forester has over 200,000 miles on it and its still runing like new, except last week whenever you take a right turn it makes a wierd sound. I think it might just be rust on the rotors or something. Other than that its perfect
My current and last car have both been GM, and are very reliable. My Blazer NEVER broke down and my current Buick Regal, same thing. So from MY experience, GM is a winner.
I guess its just the luck of the draw, or maybe because its a new model camaro. I not know but unfortunately for gm, they dont have a future sale out of me. Subaru for life!
The Camry has got to be the most genaric car in the segment...which is why I didn't mention it. I had a 2009 Altima as a rental and it was a good car, but nothing special. The Fusion and Accord both have unique designs I think.
who said anything about the engine being generic. its the looks of the car and which i think isn't generic because the average person doesn't look at the lines and curves of the car and the car overall compare to the last gen. i actually like this one better than previous one. the front side fenders are much more aggressive.
you are right there is nothing generic about the boxer engine which perhaps could outperform all the engines in its class.
As an owner of one of these cars, I abslolutely love it. I have the 6 spd and 2.5 4 cyl and it gets 34 on the highway, drives through 12 inches of snow like its nothing, and a Montana morning at 20 degrees below zero doesnt even phase it.

Let me start by saying that Subarus never caut my eye, but when I saw this new Legacy, I fell in love with them. But the price is too much.

I don't mind the exterior rear styling, but those front headlamps looks very weird.

This faggot doesn't know what he's talking about. It's such a great car and is so much fun to drive, especially the GT version. He doesn't know a good car when he sees one. He probably can only afford a Kia. He's not crazy about this car because he can't appreciate it. I want to get one. This is a sweet car.

Why is this nerd the only person who has reviewed the '10 Legacy on Youtube? I want some diversity of opinion!
greenblueprints 2 years ago 30

83ls 2 years ago 4
yes you could go out and buy a fusion or a malibu, but here are a few reasons you should not. 1.) The Subaru has a much better resale value than either. 2.) After 100k you will not be replacing the engine or trans like you would with ford or chevy junk.
assbag2007 2 years ago 3
Hahahahaha....... whenever I want to turn anything beautiful into something ugly, I'd consult Subaru right away =D
It's not that ugly but the previous generation looks better. They should've kept the front and focused more on the back.

170hp with only 19/27 gas mpg? that sucks, and the two interiors shown for this car, the seats look so old-fashioned. My mom's 2002 Suzuki Wagon R+ had better cloth seats, and were alot more confortable
1englandnigga 2 years ago
actually it's 23/31 for the cvt trans which is pretty much what most models will have in it. And yes your moms ride is nice too, I was checking out the interior of it when I was nailing her in it last night!
assbag2007 2 years ago
im sorry what did YOu say?! Talk about my mom again..
1englandnigga 2 years ago
it was hard to squeeze her in the back conisering she is the size of a kia!
assbag2007 2 years ago
well thats a very stupid comeback cos a kia is small. its your fatass predator that couldnt fit in the back, and plus, your mom bangs me hard every night in the back of my crown vic, plenty of space. WASSUP!

so will there be an STI version?
2fast4all 2 years ago 2

Did you guys shoot this segment in Wicker Park? It looks like it.

Then back looks like a Civic and Accord fused together.
The front is just ugly, I'd take this over a Camry though... Camry's are terrible.

The Legacy's exterior styling is really awkward. Why didn't Subaru play it safe and keep the theme of the Forester ?
the only thing it has going for it is AWD
davidhalifax 2 years ago
Exactly, the new one (shown here) is more boring than the camry. The Forrester is the best lookin in their fleet. I used to like the legacy, especially the GT. Oh well ........ hoffmeister kink ftw
bajabusta 2 years ago
the forester looks like a kia hard to tell apart
crammage 2 years ago
perhaps, but it is one of the better looking subby's out there. The Impreza (ick). The Tribeca (ick) the new legacy (ick) note: the opinions above are simply regarding styling.

why not its a Subaru, they're the best!

It looks too generic, the Fusion, Malibu and Accord look better IMO
stanbernadino 2 years ago
You cant talk trash (Not saying your talking trash) untill you see it up close and in person, just like the impreza. I have and i have to say its really nice.. trust me. I do agree with you tho fusion looks alot better but the legacys interior is better. As for the others you said, i dont trust gm anymore and accord deff doesnt look better.
Karnage542 2 years ago
Maybe you're right, but from what I've seen in this video and others...it looks generic. And if you don't trust gm, why do you have a new Camaro?
stanbernadino 2 years ago
Thats why i dont trust gm. I gave them a chance and bought the camaro and all it does is break on me... and its only 3 months old!!! -_-
My dads 04 forester has over 200,000 miles on it and its still runing like new, except last week whenever you take a right turn it makes a wierd sound. I think it might just be rust on the rotors or something. Other than that its perfect
Karnage542 2 years ago
My current and last car have both been GM, and are very reliable. My Blazer NEVER broke down and my current Buick Regal, same thing. So from MY experience, GM is a winner.
stanbernadino 2 years ago
I guess its just the luck of the draw, or maybe because its a new model camaro. I not know but unfortunately for gm, they dont have a future sale out of me. Subaru for life!

those cars are also so generic. the only cars in that class that stands out is the Altima and Camry.

bluestarkad17 2 years ago
lol...huh? lol...another car that isn't generic is the 2010 mazda 6.
310Sole 2 years ago
The Camry has got to be the most genaric car in the segment...which is why I didn't mention it. I had a 2009 Altima as a rental and it was a good car, but nothing special. The Fusion and Accord both have unique designs I think.
stanbernadino 2 years ago
there is nothing generic about the boxer engine!
crammage 2 years ago 4
who said anything about the engine being generic. its the looks of the car and which i think isn't generic because the average person doesn't look at the lines and curves of the car and the car overall compare to the last gen. i actually like this one better than previous one. the front side fenders are much more aggressive.
you are right there is nothing generic about the boxer engine which perhaps could outperform all the engines in its class.
