    you're right!

  • @PVumbe omg yeah!

  • @PVumbe prettier ;]

  • c'mon guys, like Olivia Thai would say, "why does it matter, we all look the same" or like JustKiddingFilms, We're all Asian, no need to segregate just cause someones Korean and not Chinese (or vice versa blah blah blah crap), you don't see Egyptians trying to pick a fight with Somalians do you?

  • she looks chinese in this commercial.

  • omg i knew you looked familiar....

  • why does it matter if she is korean in a chinese commercial? besides this product is made available to asia only anyways...so eventually they might use this same add in korea but narrated in korean..

  • @aquamizu1 you're right. Even Maybelline does that in every commercial for the South East Asia.

  • i'm so glad you didn't get plastic surgery. you are beautiful just the way you are haha

  • I'm confused with everyone. Who cares if she is Korean and she's in a Chinese commercial. I'm Korean, but I wouldn't care if I got a Chinese commercial. It's just a product people.

  • LOL ITS CHINESE ! :) ah i remember i used to watch so much tv back in china

  • CHINA ALL DAY! :) we love you!!

  • soo pretty

  • Lol this is a chinese commercial, but your korean

  • Arden you look great without makeup! If Korea doesn't give you opportunities, China will

  • CSI, Pretty Little Liars, commercial?!? That just proves how awesome some asian people can be (:

  • Oh my gosh! I've seen this commercial in the past!!

  • yali you bug

    you the best arden.

  • If you are asian and you are not proud to have such a lovely face presented to asia, you must be a fool.

In today's world you can't honestly tell who is from where...ignorance is one thing, sensitivity is another...we don't wish to 'offend'...but what is there be be offended by?

You think I'm Vietnamese? I'll tell you I'm chinese.

You think I'm Thai? I'll tell you I'm chinese...

    No harm done!

We need to love other asians before we expect others to know who is who with one look.

  • @yaliapple All I am upset about is that you are a sensitive fool. I wouldn't be "happy" but neither "upset". Every time I speak to someone I should tell them where I'm from? "Hi, I'm chinese, you know, from china, I'm not korean, japanese, taiwanese, thai, vietnamese..."

Why should anyone be deeply offended? White people look "white" to me, I can't an american from a polish, scottish, Aussie...so why should you be damn sensitive? Go ahead, divide people due to insignificant issues like looks.

  • I understood everything! Chinese is awesome and so is Arden :D

  • XD people are retarded Arden Cho was hired as the new face fr Clinique it has nothing to do with ethnicity

  • @HisSweetie188

Thank you. Thank you so much.

She was hired for Asia. Period. No one wanted to offend anyone intentionally. People need to cool down and learn to understand this.

  • @yaliapple I never said she doesn't look chinese...-_-...where? You are taking things out of context.

If the reason why you are so angry is because they are using this ad in africa and india, I understand but that's not the point here!

I'm saying that she ethnically could fit into many asian countries (not all)...I said that you can never be certain who is chinese/japanese/korean with just one look. The only thing I 'admitted' was that a korean face can be mistaken for a chinese face.

  • God, stop arguing people. So what if she's not Chinese? They're just trying to sell a product here, man. Chillax. And Arden you rock! ^^

  • @atlanteantapir Thank you too, that's all I was trying to get a fool to understand.

I see mostly white people in my magazines in Asia and we still buy the product, it doesn't make such a big deal!

  • @yaliapple If it's so hard for you to understand what I meant by 'ethnically the same' but not 'exactly the same', here

I am chinese, my friend is chinese. :

We are ethnically the same/similar because we both have black hair, small flatter nose, monoeyelids, yellow tone to our skin, slimmer/shorter than our western friends.

We are NOT exactly the same because I am bigger than her, her eyes are smaller than mine. My nose is wider, she is taller.

    Got it? -_-

  • are u an egg with white and black dots?

  • @yaliapple LOL Your misunderstanding is so funny. How can I put words in "other people's" mouth when they came from ME? A girl from Ireland and a girl from Australia look ethnically "SAME" but as individuals they don't look "EXACTLY" the same...go do research on the term if you need clarification. The people who support your claim may all be visually tiny, slanty eyes and a smaller nose for all you know!

Who's mouth? What? I'm ADDING to what I SAID before. hell...READ properly lol

  • @yaliapple Ethnically means naturally, same region of the world...people do not look EXACTLY the same, anyone should know. A LOT of Chinese and Koreans are born with similar features...you can't "accidentally" think a chinese was Afircan could you? You could with a chinese and korean.Get my point? If you don't I don't care, you are being way too sensitive. You don't have a better argument because "other people" here agree with you. -__- My opinion is as valid as yours. Good day

  • @yaliapple

Lol...your misunderstanding is almost funny. I am chinese. I know she is KOREAN. You don't represent "asians" and neither do I. Clinique choose her because she was what they were looking for, a face that "could" fit in a chinese, korean, japanese, thai advertisement. You can debate as much as you want about chinese and koreans being so "different" but i doubt anyone looking at the ad could tell.."Oh my god! She's korean! Why is she in an ad for China!?" No, that doesn't happen.

  • @yaliapple OK, you white wannabe. Jeez. I don't care.

  • @yaliapple Ruddy cheeks and pink undertone are not the same things. LOL.

  • @yaliapple Whatever. Keep making up stories.

  • agree, she doesn't look chinese. kind of indochinese-korean looking.

  • @yaliapple dream on. Chinese are no more pink than Koreans. You white wannabe. And since YOU brought it up, I've seen far more "pink" Koreans than Chinese. You're hilarious.

  • @yaliapple

I think you missed my point. I'm just concerned with why people are upset that they used a korean girl for a ad in china and across asia.

I don't care if you think I sound cliche. It's true, I can give you a line up of asian girls, really, you can't be definitely sure of who's from where...assuming all did not have surgery...etc make up.

People shouldn't mind if a girl from X was used for an ad in Y...if they look the same ethnically and represent the brand, why not?

  • that was you? wow - I've seen this commercial a lot, never realized it was you, until today. Yay Arden, you go girl - you ROCK !

  • @yaliapple Yes, tropical is looking pale with sharp features. LOL. And why don't you back up your claim about Koreans having SEA genes. Yes, maybe a few percent at the most, but "plenty'? Please. Chinese always brag about how diverse they look. But how is that so? Because they have a mix of genes. Koreans are homogeneous for the most part.

  • @yaliapple Arden's just that pretty. (:

  • @yaliapple

lol. How can you blame me for it? It makes no sense at all. I said you are racist based on your comments

Yes, there are few Asian models in the US, but definitely there are..... In fact, quite common in TV commercials. Well, Asians are smart...highly educated. I guess they got paid more by having higher degrees than doing modeling?

  • @yaliapple

Well, let me explain this more clearly with examples. For type X1 looks, there is 70% probability that the person is korean, and 30% probability that the person is chinese. For type X2, there is 50% probability that the person is korean, and 50% probability that the person is chinese....and blabla..

I hope you got it. There are ALWAYS overlapping and you can never be sure, you can only guess. It's not black and white. Take home message: if you can't be sure, why does it matter?

  • @benkenser

I'm done with this conversation. It's getting pointless. Hope you agree

  • @yaliapple

No. But, I am enrolled in a study abroad program in China, and I interact with a LOT of Asians (from international student association).

  • Half of the people in China don't even look stereotypically 'chinese'. Go west to places like xin jiang...the chinese there are Muslim and have green/blue eyes and brown/blond hair and look middle eastern or even russian...

I think using Arden Cho was a great choice for asian commercials, you don't always need a chinese girl for China.

  • @yaliapple

I can sort of understand why people would thumbs up your comment but what do you mean "koreans don't even look chinese"? i'm chinese myself and on average...I'd never be able to tell who's korean, japanese or chinese if people were bare faced in an advert. Really...it's very sensible to use the same ad across countries with similar looking people...

Would you make two ads? One for America and one for Ireland with two different caucasian models? Could they be so different?

  • @yaliapple Yes, your trollish opinion. If Koreans look like "Laotians", then Chinese must look like Khmers as they even have SEA blood. You're not fooling anyone. Just coming off as a jealous troll.

  • @yaliapple

Get over it. That is just silly. Why does that matter to you?

There are white and black models in commercials in Asia as well. Is that a problem for you as well? If not, why does this matter. She is a good looking model that just happen to be famous on youtube, so people pick her to be in commercials. You are just so racist. really bad

  • korean represent xD

  • @yaliapple

We can't tell the difference anyway. Who cares?

I think it is safe to say Koreans do look like Chinese, but not the other way. As far as I know, there are variety of different Chinese looks depending on the locations. I guess...

  • @benkenser Koreans DO NOT look like Chinese or vice versa.

  • @jstele

I took Chinese and Japanese courses and I've interact with numerous Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. They do have a bit differences in the way they dress and act, but in many cases, you can't tell the difference until they start speaking. I can guess, but I don't think I'll get it right 100% (not even Asians can).

I take back what I said about Chinese and Korean. It should be vice versa. It was based on one of the videos I watched from youtube

  • @benkenser You can tell the difference. Well, maybe not YOU personally, but I can and so can many other Asians.

  • it doesn't look like you!!!! i saw it in the u.s.a. i think...

  • good job, Arden!! ;)

  • Arden, you look like Mulan in this commercial!

  • WTF HAVE ALL THE MAKE UP ARTISTS DID TO HER FACE?

  • You are by far, one of the most gorgeous women on earth.

  • is your face really this smooth? and does this work???

  • nigahiga. Thumbs up.

  • Comment removed

  • did you really use this product for your skin?

cause your skin is so FLAWLESS! (:

  • Congratz, love to see you enjoy more success. :)

  • she doesnt look korean.. more like chinese

  • @henymuffin but arden said that she was korean

  • @henymuffin Dream on. I know SO many Korean girls that look like/resemble her, not any Chinese though.

  • Saw this in malaysia...=D

  • I know someone from Korea

  • Arden , Please answer this truely, did they really used this thing on you , or did they used hundreds of other products to make you look epicly beautiful.

now don't go in defense , i dont say anything personalls , in fact , you are one of the hottest asians girls i eva seen , and belive me , i've seen allot ;)

  • @yaliapple It's not an ad to look Chinese, it's an ad to promote beautiful and perfect skin (:

  • You should sell this product in Australia or Taiwan, it'll be pretty good :D

  • I wish we had your version in Australia :)

  • too bad the awesome asian person is restricted to chinese commercials rather than american

  • Lol. A lot of people are saying they shouldn't use a Korean to film a commercial in Chinese. Usually, they use the same video in every country and only change the language spoken by th narrator. It (usually) works this way over here (in Asia). SK|| also. It's the same between the Chinese and english version. (they use a hk model)

  • wow..i saw this ads so many times in my life before...not knowing it is you. Embarrasing to say but i used to think to myself "oh my my i wish i can hav a gf like that girl on ads"

  • Haha Arden is amazingly gorgeous. And this is not her real account btw..

  • I saw this in hong kong n I watched it every day,but I didn't realize that was you!!!

  • you look a bit like lee min jung.

  • Oh wow! I saw this in China and I had no idea it was you!

  • TRANSLATION: Who wouldn't want their skin to be very clean? It could be yours! [random stuff] It gives you a pure white. Introducing the new CL302 (sounds like a mercedes). It makes your skin little by little very luminous, very quickly. The new Clinique CL302. Change you can see. All around Asia. OK that sounded kinda gay...

  • truthfully, i saw this in nanjing when i studied there. wow! cool!

  • @yaliapple korean's ancestors are chinese. some can pull it off. no racial.

  • @uavida "ancestors"... before the continents were close together like "billions" years ago....you're right, korean's ARE NOT chinese. THEIR "ANCESTORS" came "FROM" that continent.... my bad...

  • do you care what kind of commercials you do?

I would rather encourage people to love the color of their skin. Does this product really work? Am I missing the point?

Although, I like how this commercial isn't telling you directly that you should be fair like others do in India.

  • @purpletree11 theres a lot of research in this phenomenon. look into it.

  • @purpletree11 different countries have different values on whats pretty. In alot of asian countries they think that whiter/brighter skin is better.

its all in the marketing ;)

  • @heyybuubaaaa that's my point that people should value the color of their skin and not discriminate based on it.

but I know what you are trying to say. I just want people to love the skin they are in! They were made that way, embrace it because there's only one You!

  • so pretty. so so much.. im jealous

  • I just now saw this commercial on air on TV in Japan.

  • @yaliapple no doubt, i totally agree, it would be great if they could get a female from every country that they broadcast this on. It would cost alot more money though for clinique for them to make 4 or5 instead of 1. i guess they weighed the ups and downs.

  • @yaliapple When someone as good looking as Arden is in a commercial, the general population takes the person as their own. It's a psychological thing. Also, the facial features that define a good looking asian female, whether chinese, japanese or korean, are usually about the same.

  • When I first time watch this CLINIQUE Commercial in Hong Kong ,I already can recognize is you~haha:D

  • T_T

    ITS CHINESE YO D<

WHY U BE USING KOREAN KIDS :(

  • Omg! it's a china commercial but they pick a korean girl lol. just got surprised if it's always like this. You're so stunning and pretty!

  • Comment removed

  • do they actually use the product on you before you shoot?

  • im chinese nd i visit china a lot nd sometimes watch the tv nd wen i watch the commercials in chinese it always sounds suspicious even if i kno its a reliable brand

  • saw it on tv in china last night :)

  • ive always known the girls r sometimes not chinese, i got evidence this time!

  • how many takes did it take? heard CF directors are picky, even for a smile LOL

  • wow, you did a great job,.... smiling.. quite hard.

  • you're gorgeous.

  • thumbs up for ARDEN CHO~!!

  • Arden doesnt even have to talk to be in a commercial. all she as to do is look pretty for 5 seconds and she is a star :D

  • so prettyyyy!
