I hava the cheapest one, the c-lux. I know it's made in Japan by Panasonic. But who cares, the Leica red dot looks fantastic on it. I like the d-lux as well. Best looking cameras as far as compacts go. Panasonic versions don't look as good, and lo and behold, they are cheaper too. I never heald a Leica M in my hand, because I think the dealer would be to nervous to let me. I'd be nervous too, I would be afraid to drop it, you know. I also like Pentax by the way. Similar culture to Leica

you know why leica photos have a distinct leica 'smoothness' about them?? because slr cameras and lenses (other than leica R) SUCK ARSE. they're big, clumsy, plastic and you can't shoot them at full aperture. cause they're CRAP!!!

Almost correct. Carl Zeiss AG is Leica's major competition when it comes to lens quality. I'd take a wonderful Zeiss lens any day! But then again, Zeiss is such a larger company and has a much larger history with high quality lenses, which every camera/lens company has copied designs off of. Zeiss these days focuses on other advancements in optical technology that make them millions versus a couple thousand a lens. (speaking only of leica camera AG, Leica Geosystems makes a bundle too!)

I think that there could finally be a positive surprise from Leica. I really hope that Leica come up with something original. Panasonic cameras are excellent. Not worth paying the extra 40% for the "Red Dot" .

wow you know nothing, if you had ever held a Leica M you would know that there is very little in life let alone photography that meets it in terms of quality.

if you want to be a techhead go watch some videos about the d3/d3x

P.s go take a culture lesson, go look at most of the most iconic images ever taken and you will see hassy and leica are behind them not nikon and canon.

that depends on alot of things these days, especially when concerning the new leica larger format camera. fantasdick has a good point i dont know why he was marked down, film is getting harder to come by and even pro fashion work/landscape work is moving to digi backs (hell they can afford too)

most of my favorite film is disappearing i guess it comes down to the fact that when i walk into the supermarket and see p&s digis cheaper than a bag of film........most people would just choose digi.

Maybe I'm not familiar with the exact shape of the Leica body, but the number on the body was M8 (I assume 8.2... maybe 8.3?)

There's something about Leica marketing materials that pleases me as a graphic design student. Nice job guys! And of course I'm intrigued in the idea of novice Leica... I've a few more years of college ahead of me before I can try paid photography

At 58 sec mark, the camera doesn't look like any existing Leica M on the market. At 59 sec mark, it is back to an M8 series M.
