The opening of this song would make a nice audio answer to the question, What does metal fatigue sound like? From a musical standpoint, when this album came out in the mid 1980s I'm sure more than a few people had at least a mild case of Heavy Metal fatigue. I searched for "Allan Holdsworth" on google recently and checked the News section. Among the items: An obituary for Gordon Beck and a tribute to Randy Rhoads. Not many musicians span the range between those two musical greats.

I read an article about Holdsworth in Guitar Player Magazine and went out and bought all the albums I could.I had never heard any of his stuff,just went by the article.

I've always been into metal and jazz,so this was the perfect combination.I also bought a Allan Holdsworth songbook.

I never try to play the songs though,I just look through it and just sit back and analyze his brilliance.

Holdsworth is transcendental and intergalactic, little man. He's a guitarists's guitarist. And Jeff Berlin is or was one of the greatest bass players ever. One of the greatest bass solos is to be found on "road games". You have a long way to go dude, seriously.

@ratbatblu I think it is a question of intent... if you truly intend to become so occupied by theory and sound and technique as Allan did then that will be your path too... don't give up on yourself that easy! Think about it like this... AH is respected... awesome... but does he have as much money as Britney Spears or Lady Gaga? I doubt it... and can one of the Rolling Stones play this? @dudemusicspace Oh I love it too! This song is what got me into Holdsworth (as well as reading interviews with EVH and Frank Zappa praising him) in the first place! I picked up Road Games after this, then went backwards to I.O.U., Bruford and U.K. Amazing, amazing guitarist.
