What's the deal with the ripping on Queen with regards to Led Zeppelin? If Led Zeppelin is so great - which they no doubt are - why so insecure that you need to rip Queen in comparison?

In my humble opinion, Led Zeppelin was incredible. Queen was even better.

Brian solos are not boring if they are adventureous / different every night. I love his solos from Earls Court, Houston (both 1977) and Live Killers, but since then all solos are like repeating the Live Killers one. Everytime I watch a Queen show from the eighties I'm hoping for something new, but he always seems to play the same. That's why it became boring in the latter days.

Man I enjoy him, he´s a great guitar player very talented, the best ever I believe, but this kind of solos are boring, the one at wembley 86 its boring as well, dont think bad, I can hear queen live at wembley all day, I just forward the solo.

no, i love all of queen, i just dont like when brian played ALONE for several minutes in live performances, even Roger said once that he didn't like to do live solos because he thought the crowd got bored of it.

Solos are a chance for the rest of the band to take a break. ALL bands do them at some point. Likewise, Freddie will play with the crowd to give the rest of the band (and to some extent himself) an additional break. This is very very common.

I hate the long solo's too but I love most of the early songs. I don't notice the solo's when they're in songs for some weird reason =)
