  • 8 people left that knows how to make horn bows will some one please beg to learn at there feet. I'm in Nashville I'd love the opportunity.

  • I love the craftsmanship. Amazing.

I think i'm going to try to learn bowcraft, and smithing, for fun.

Keep the old arts alive my friends.

  • yesh! now i can shoot peple in the knee!

  • americans cant make bows. only english can

  • @Rookian2 Wow. Are you really that narrow-minded? The knowledge does not pertain to a certain group of people from a certain area, it is determined by a certain mindset accessible to anyone. Shame on you...

  • @Rookian2 seriously who do you think we learned to make bows from? INDIANS whom made their livelyhood from I think American bows are just fine. Not to mention ours are bigger than yours since Americans are on average taller than english u got little draws lol

  • @jc7997aj the english had bows hundreds of years before they even knew native american indians even existed

  • @chas4551 very true but when cultures mix they learn from each other or steal. So the English needed to learn from the Indians and they did even by force in a lot cases. You'd be a fool not to learn from any indigenous people especially if your "moving in"

  • I want his life!

  • I was going to make one of these but then I took an arrow to the knee

  • how much for a bow like these

  • @gamogunguy Maybe $700,

  • people need to shut up with the stupid arrow to the knee jokes

  • really liked this video, very impressive with old-timers who has rare skills

  • This guy is amazing! Glad to see people keeping the lost arts alive!

  • I use to make bows , but then i took an arrow to the knee !!!

  • @atvmattguy its getting old bro.

  • this guy is awesome! i just made a bow out of a fir branch,(worked surprisingly well for the wood, but then cracked,) that has the exact design of the one in the beginning.

  • This guy is amazing. This skill should be passed on! In the coming years when SHTF and you cannot get a gun or ammo, this will be it.

  • OH look a Skyrim joke on the top comments

  • Then he was about nine years old, he took an arrow in the knee.

  • what is cinu?

  • @noobeable It's spelled "Sinew", but it's a natural cordage made from the tendons of animals, taken from the legs or back.

  • @noobeable I dont think its the tendons, I think its just what they call the hair or lengthy fur on aninals legs, I could be wrong though. It certainly looked like animal hair in the video

  • @GenerallyinGeneral it is, i checked on google.

  • @GenerallyinGeneral It's not hair, it's definitely the tendons. You dry the tendons, pound off the outer membrane, and sinew is what's left.

  • @TheMo365 Ok, I'd love to have a go at making one, actually 3 or 4 goes, the first couple would be botch jobs! Loads of survival stuff on youtube, its great!

  • @GenerallyinGeneral making what?

  • @GenerallyinGeneral Look my dad is a taxidermist. Im 99% sure those are tendons. We cut deer meat, and I see farmiler looking material

  • @BizarreAirsoft ...Ok

  • @GenerallyinGeneral he said its the sinew of an elk, why dont people listen to videos anymore?

  • @purest0evil I asked a question and next thing I have about 20 wannabe's bombard me with comments like this one, can I ask you another question now, do you make your own bows? I doubt it, so why dont you shut the hell up and be civil. You're just another dude on a comment blog. I'll never ask a question on this again because muppets like you, who is probably 300lbs and living in your mothers basement, are in the majority! It's not hard to be civil.

  • @GenerallyinGeneral That is Elk sinew, use it and deer sinew all the time, great material for sewing, wrapping hafted knife blades, etc...

  • Weaponsmithing increased to 87!

  • wow... I'm surprised that he is using tendon to make a bow. I thought that only korean use it.

learning other country's culture is very interesting. very good video.

  • @radgoat are you korean?

  • 99 Fletching Ftw.

  • i love the way most of the comments on here are skyrim related :L

  • The seven people who disliked this had him as their grandpa and got shot when they were bad.

  • dont worry i intend on picking up the trade

  • Fantastic short! Well done for letting Ed tell his story without distracting BG music. Great work!

  • make a baaaw :D I like that accent :D

  • He's obviously Lv.50 from ALOT of crafting.

  • @heartlessangel7 You can actually go up to level 81.

  • also i don't get the joke

a guard in skyrim says it hahahahahaha

  • I was an adventurer like you, until i took an arrow in the knee

  • THIS IS THE GUY THATS BEEN SHOOTING ALL THOSE PEOPLE IN THE KNEES!!!

  • @aerohawkproductions i used to tell unoriginal jokes..... then i stopped

  • @Thorriox i thought i was making fun of all the unoriginal comments, but i guess not. and you would probably know because youre obviously a comedy genius.

  • awesome

  • Fascinating video!

  • Very cool. Please say hi to Mr. Scott for me. :D

  • i like this

  • awsome i live in south florida

  • I used to make bows, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • Amazing stuff. He surly has a great skill!!

  • he uses a sharp knife to make the wood smooth

  • what tool did u use at 2:00

  • @zahlilover A drawknife.

  • what tool did u use at 2:00

  • I tried to find plans for a bow press similar to Mr. Scott's but haven't had any luck. Help?

  • That is an Art...and He is an Artiste

  • arts like these were destroyed with the industrial revolution, most products were made to these knd of high quality specifications. Now we get cheap factory shit from china instead of art. Ahh the times the times.

  • wow

  • Ed Scott is Legendary!!

  • Can i have your AutoGraph!?

  • Intelligence guided by experience... that is how you do anything... Those are very well put words. This guy is amazing with his hands. It was very interesting watching the bow making process and having him explaining the techniques he is using. I also like how he incorporates stories into the documentary, like how the buffalo were hunted with the bow and arrow.

  • What a MAGNIFICENT talent! I would never have guessed how they made bows! I really want to get me one of those beautiful, big bows...Impressive!

  • This man is very talented with his hands, it is a talent that isnt widely seen and under utilized. Great work and i also hope he passes on his knowlege so that this art wont die with time.

  • I've always liked archery, but I never knew how much work actually went into making a bow.

  • This is a crazy awesome talent. I would love to learn a craft like this. This guy may be old but he is crazy amazing.

  • One of the best films I have ever seen!

Thank You so much for posting ist,

    greetings from a german archer

  • I have never shot a bow, but i do appreciate them more knowing the work that goes into them. What a great talent this guy has.

  • I hope that he will pass his knowledge. It would be a shame to get lost and forgoten..

  • He is a very talented man.

  • man id love to be taught by ed

  • sounds like me--I try to do things with a sense of doing things right--and yes, I have done a little experimenting with bowmaking but not on a professional level like Ed

  • Banging upload. Maybe there's already a video on it but I'd love to see Ed do an Anglo-Welsh longbow, being an Englishman.

  • Things of beauty! Essentially, a well worked stick, some twine and bingo. a killing machine! People with skills like this are amazing!

  • Does this guy takes apprentices?

  • Awesome video and Mr. Ed Scott seems like a very wise man

  • WONDERFUL! Wonderful, wonderful! I really enjoyed this video. Excellent job! Mr. Scott knows his stuff and you captured it so well. I aspire to making videos this interesting. Hearing his stories made me feel the danger on those beautiful bows.

  • He looks like the guy from the box art of Phalanx on the SNES.

  • 7 deers dissliked the video :P

  • @Sasasl1 no , they weren't wearing they eyeglasses so they missed the like button and pushed the dislike one

  • Wow,what a wealth of imformation. Not many of these men left ! Thanks for making these vids

  • This man is amazing. He has legitimately amazed me with the amount of intelligence he possesses.

  • I will give you 30 dollars and a 35 dollar target gift card for a good bow and maybe some arrows

  • @AGamingNerd his bows start at around $500. but his bows are some of the best on earth

  • @loadedClownZ 500$ for a amazing quality handcrafted bow is peanuts. Lucas Szaloki sells bows starting at 2000$ and going up to the 5 thousands. He asks for a 500$ deposit.. Even mass produced fiberglass and carbon fiber composite crap is in the 300$ range (olympic style recurves, compound, etc.). This man is asking for very little money for his bows.

  • @nubxpro his bows start at $500. read what i wrote.

  • @AGamingNerd That won't even cover half the amount of sinew he used... Sorry pal...

  • that one piece at 3:05 got label on it, are your selling it to public sir? thanks

  • that a handmade master piece there what you did Sir... thank you for kind sharing.

  • i love shooting homemade bows

  • Good for using his hand, lol most people masturbate

  • @InsidiaGaming yeah masturbate sound fun, hahahaha....

  • please be my grandpa

  • How do I get a quest from this guy?

  • @PolygonmanTV lol

  • you sir, are awesome! and you need to teach someone about horn bow construction!! its a genuine skill, bordering on an art, it should be remember, teach me via Youtube, ill even let the rest of em watch :LD

  • Imagine having him as your grandpa.

  • @mojen93 that would be amazing

  • @mojen93 that would be AWESOME!!!

  • Some of the Indian bows were just as strong as Mongolian bows.

  • these bows are awesome. i would pay him to make me one

  • Islam is the best

    thanks wise peson.

  • God bless this amazing man

  • i want to become a bowyer, and i do have that natural sense of ratio.

  • This man inspires a lot in his old age.

  • @MrWhiteNationalist....There is only one Race and that's the Human Race

  • I can't believe he said this "Native string" is better than the whitemans technology. What a race traitor.

  • @MrWhiteNationalist im half native and half white what would you call me?

  • @Sudz1911 Human.

  • @MrWhiteNationalist Im half native half white what would you call me then?

  • LOL, what PRIMITIVE bows!

  • thanks

  • where do u get sinue?

  • @ferocioustigerclaw google native ways native american shop great deal on sinew arrowheads all sorts and as far as bows i would go to rudderbows

  • @ferocioustigerclaw dead animals

  • @ferocioustigerclaw Sinew can come from most animals most abundant would be cattle sinew from hind legs, its a very long complicated process with lots of patience involved, most people today just don't understand the time it takes to make a sinew backed bow..people are in a rush today..hide and fish glues can be used, but you must be shown this process. Good luck!

  • Good music at the end :D

  • im trying to make a powerful bow fore a crossbow, what cind of bow shod i make ?

  • Gods, I hope he takes someone on as an appretice! This knowledge can't disappear when he passes on! :/

  • could afford bbs or .22 ammunition

    are you kidding me

  • @cunnelatio This is back when he was 9, I think he said. Just looking at him i could say he is in his 70's. Back when he was 9, depending on where he lived, ammo was probably a bit too expensive for his family. :P

  • Thx for the video! Greetings from Hungary!

  • Very nice video.Awesome Bow making skills Fred Bear.

  • @1CherokeeChief Don't know about Ed Scott - he could be. I am part Wampanoag (Massachussett tribe), though mostly Irish, Scottish, and Welsh. Go to 'cherokeevisions(dot)com'. Unfortunately I cannot tell you much of the Cherokee culture, but I can suggest sources.

Great Spirit be with you :)
