Did you see what that swaggering, egotistical Joe Don Baker did to that poor black man? Yet no hate crime statute was ever levied against him, because hate crimes didn't exist back then. I don't think it was very nice for the black man to call Baker a "pink ass", either.
The whole Joe Don Baker character AND his motivation (find back mafia money) were STOLEN by the Coen brothers as inspiration for the Javier Bardem cgaracter in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN ... (Very obvious in the scene with the wheel-chair bound old man)
Joe Don Baker played a brilliant "heavy" in this film. The way he very nastily beat to death Charlie Varrick's friend & used violence against anyone who stood in his way, [including a wheelchair-bound old man], kept you itching to see him get his comeuppance. He gets it in the end, spectacularly!.
Joe don baker is the toughest guy in the world

In Pulp Fiction Tarantino borrowed the pair of pliers and a blowtorch line that Maynard Boyle gives bank manager!

Molly is one of my favourite screen villains. JDB is awesome in this movie.
Modern directors should be made to watch Charley Varrick as an example of how a crime caper should be made.
