if i want to use baking soda how much i got to use in 1 cup besan............how many fafda approximately i can make out of 1 cup besan....pls ans this Q....thanks lot for teaching me how to make fafda.......u rock.
Hi Bhavna great video enjoyed it very much just confused with one thing?Your cup measurement is not clear because i need weight like grams so if want to make 200gm fafda what will be the other measurements?
Bhavna, your idea of placing the dough between the plastic sheets was awesome! I just tried the recipe and it turned out really nice! Except that I added a few more spices: black pepper, hing and ajma.. Thanks!
fafda..aam..no..noy...soda by carb is missing ....and...much...slow...hit..need.....and one more thing...never.make fafda in to chapati.....fafda...is...roking.......come...gujarat...kathiyavad....to..enjoy...real...test....
First, thanks for sharing your recipes. Second, the knife you are using can be substituted in the US with a normal steel ruler. Most of them are thin enough to work.
I have to tell you NOT to use the Kikkoman soy sauce I saw you using in your Hot & Spicy Stir Fry TOFU, b/c that soy sauce is made with a preservative called Sodium Benzoate which is actually derived from powdered dead beetles. Yucky stuff, not meant for anyone esp. not us vegetarians or vegans like me.
Best use some type of Organic Soy sauce like the Whole Foods Market versions (called 365 Soy sauce), it's only $2.50 for a small 4 oz. bottle.
I took 1 std US cup measure Besan and added 4 std. US tablespoons of oil (besides adding other ingredients) as you mentioned. The resulting dough was just too oily and was oozing oil all over the place, even though I mixed in the ingredients gradually. I think lesser oil is required, maybe 2 std. US Tbsp.
It depend on flour as well. Some flours such as made from chick pea and not bengal gram takes less oil and some more. So next time, you can make with less oil.
just to let you know....because of lack of time i used microwave a lot.....but i didnt know that scientists had concluded that microwave food is unhealthy as its nutrients are destroyed. You can google it or youtube it and find out your self, its absolutely unhealthy, and its just wasting your food, time and money in the end. Now, i cook with gas and steam cooker, so the nutrients are not lost and of course not cause more harm on my health.
Glad to hear. Will sure make Gatte ki sabji as soon as I can. These days, I m bit of slow on uploading recipe videos since busy with lot of things. But will sure do. keep enjoying.
Did you take the same measurement like me? If so, shouldn't be hard. Soft fafda requiers sufficient oil and papad kharo as well. If you try to be short on any ingredients, it doesn't give good result. look forward to hear from you.
Fafdas we buy from local farsan shop has no bubbles on top and it is given with some yellow colored chutney, what is it ? Can you share popular accompniments that go with that go with most of gujrati snacks/ savouries. Thanks.
Yes, I always love to share. The yellow chutney that you get is besan chutney but there are other accompniments such as green chili or green chutney can be served as well. But besan chuntey and fried green chili is the most commonly compniments served with Fafda. Will write recipe of besan chuntey on website. Keep enjoying
bhavna...you are saying "sanchad"it is called black salt and I added black salt in the dough and it spoiled my recipe..pls get the name of the ingredient right....I guess you wanted to say papad khar...
I have been watching your videos from last one month. You are doing really great job.. I have something to ask don't you put papadiyo kharo or soda in fafda?
I have one request please post jalebi and tikho khichdo (not Khichdi) recipe if you know.
You can give it a try with baking powder/soda but as i said earlier in one of the comment below, I personally have never tried. So wish you a good luck

Wow! I thank you all for supporting me. But I respect everyone's concern. She Pinkal2all must have felt something and tried to clear it. So I wouldn't take it as offensive. She inspired me to make many corrections to my recipe videos.
bhavna, your videos are great and simple to follow you are the only person who straight away answer to all queries as far as measurement is concerned its an individual preference some ppl1 like oily food, some might prefer more spicy or less so dnt worry we are their always to support you :)
i like ur all videos n recepies but plz dont make fool of people..in this video..easily it is noticable that u r saying 4 spoons of oil n adding it just to show but really u r adding more...in other videos also u directly start with seasoning in pan, u dont shoe how much oil u took in the pan..
Thank you. But the question is why would I fool people? It's not my nature to fool people. I am always open to everything.
I did say 4 tbsp and I did only added 4 tbsp oil. I think you need to watch this video carefully again. And for all recipes I always try to recommend only how much oil is needed really for healthy option, but it's always everyone's preference how much oil they would like to add.
And for other recipes, I naturally start with seasonin because oil suggestion is already shown in ingredients. But thank you for bringing it to attention.
Bhavna, you are right. I like your straight forward, clear pesonality. I am surprised how did Pinkal2all think you added more oil while we only saw four times as well. And I did make fafda with your recipe adding only 4 tbsp oil, and they were exactly looking like you. Unfortunately, I can't post the image. Otherwise I would have shown. To be hones, I tried many recipe from the net for fafda, not any singel recipe gave me result like yours.
Bhavna, please do not follow what others has to say. Your recipe videos are great and they work for most of us. You got it right. If you go to indian grocers, it says papad khar. Thank you for reminding me this name. I am very used to telling Sanchal so never thought of papad khar. Really appreciate your comment.
Very good question since I forgot to tell that you can simply fry the chilies. Don't forget to cut in center otherwise it will explode. Once you fry, sprinkle some salt immediately and it taste great with any gujarati snacks such as Khaman, khandvi, fafda, bhajia and many more...keep enjoying Thank you
Sanchal is not fruit slat or ENO. butLook for this in Indian markets, either ground or in lumps. It's more tan than black(also available white), and has a very strong, sulfuric flavor. Substitutes: table salt(Table salt is just suggestion but you can use baking soda instead of Sanchal.
Just getting back with you The "sanchal" is "papad khar" actually. Even though I know about it, it almost went off of my mind...Thanks to Dina who reminded me...So when you go to Indian grocers, it says "papad kharo" on the bag. so enjoy
Wow, first video ever for this recipe. Love it! Very informative...Thank you for your hard work. I definitely have to show this video to all my friends. Great Job as always.

Hi
Sanchal is not fruit slat or ENO. butLook for this in Indian markets, either ground or in lumps. It's more tan than black(also available white), and has a very strong, sulfuric flavor. Substitutes: table salt(Table salt is just suggestion but you can use baking soda instead of Sanchal.

Hi
Just getting back with you The "sanchal" is "papad khar" actually. Even though I know about it, it almost went off of my mind...Thanks to Dina who reminded me...So when you go to Indian grocers, it says "papad kharo" on the bag. so enjoy
