  • @Tenioberoi

    HI

Baking soda might work. Haven't tried but you can give it a try.

  • hi i want to know what's the sanchal

  • @nahar5425

    Hi

Sanchal is papad kharo available at all indian grocers.

  • Bhavna,

First, thanks for sharing your recipes. Second, the knife you are using can be substituted in the US with a normal steel ruler. Most of them are thin enough to work.

  • @indianfemprof

    HI

    Thanx for sharing. Keep enjoying.

  • Hi BHAVNA,

I have to tell you NOT to use the Kikkoman soy sauce I saw you using in your Hot & Spicy Stir Fry TOFU, b/c that soy sauce is made with a preservative called Sodium Benzoate which is actually derived from powdered dead beetles. Yucky stuff, not meant for anyone esp. not us vegetarians or vegans like me.

Best use some type of Organic Soy sauce like the Whole Foods Market versions (called 365 Soy sauce), it's only $2.50 for a small 4 oz. bottle.

  • @QueenBeeSERBIAAA

    Hi

I will research on it. Thanx for sharing though. Enjoy!

  • I took 1 std US cup measure Besan and added 4 std. US tablespoons of oil (besides adding other ingredients) as you mentioned. The resulting dough was just too oily and was oozing oil all over the place, even though I mixed in the ingredients gradually. I think lesser oil is required, maybe 2 std. US Tbsp.

  • @atintube

    HI

It depend on flour as well. Some flours such as made from chick pea and not bengal gram takes less oil and some more. So next time, you can make with less oil.

  • 37000 view~

  • I don't know why, but I always rub my eyes after I handle peppers...Every time.

  • @animalliberation0961

    Hi

If that's the case, you can try with wearing glasses. Hope it helps. Enjoy!

  • Love this fafda. much skill with the knife.

  • @ChrizCee012

    Hi

    Thank you and enjoy!

  • The knife shown is made of a metal saw blade, sharpened on the back side (awaw of the theeth side)

  • @rudyschalk

    Hi

  • @shital12100

    Hi

Try with baking powder. I have never made with bp though. But good luck.

  • just to let you know....because of lack of time i used microwave a lot.....but i didnt know that scientists had concluded that microwave food is unhealthy as its nutrients are destroyed. You can google it or youtube it and find out your self, its absolutely unhealthy, and its just wasting your food, time and money in the end. Now, i cook with gas and steam cooker, so the nutrients are not lost and of course not cause more harm on my health.

  • @avonbathbianco

    Hi

Thanx for sharing. I don't do much microwave either. But being in this country, sometimes I have to. Enjoy!

  • yum....I am vegetarian and i find your recipes amazing!!

  • I tried this they turned out bad... very hard what can you do to avoid that

  • @roshniluvsyou

    Hi

Did you take the same measurement like me? If so, shouldn't be hard. Soft fafda requiers sufficient oil and papad kharo as well. If you try to be short on any ingredients, it doesn't give good result. look forward to hear from you.

  • hi bhavna. I guess can prick ur fafdas with the fork before frying them, to avoid the bubbles

  • @wertyzxc1

    Hi

If you wish to you can do that. enjoy!

  • this looks really good

  • @PiousPrincess

    Hi

    Thanx

  • Fafdas we buy from local farsan shop has no bubbles on top and it is given with some yellow colored chutney, what is it ? Can you share popular accompniments that go with that go with most of gujrati snacks/ savouries. Thanks.

  • @Tenioberoi

    Hi

Yes, I always love to share. The yellow chutney that you get is besan chutney but there are other accompniments such as green chili or green chutney can be served as well. But besan chuntey and fried green chili is the most commonly compniments served with Fafda. Will write recipe of besan chuntey on website. Keep enjoying

  • i was searching this recipe from long time finally got it thanks

  • @zaanahraf

    Hi

And merry christmas & happy new year to you & your family.:)

I have one request can you please show how to make "Ghatia"?. Thanks.

  • Hi

Thank you. For Ghathia, you make the same dough but you can add red chili powder and use machine to make Ghatia. It's that simple. Keep enjoying

  • Hello Friends!

Wow! I thank you all for supporting me. But I respect everyone's concern. She Pinkal2all must have felt something and tried to clear it. So I wouldn't take it as offensive. She inspired me to make many corrections to my recipe videos.

  • bhavna, your videos are great and simple to follow you are the only person who straight away answer to all queries as far as measurement is concerned its an individual preference some ppl1 like oily food, some might prefer more spicy or less so dnt worry we are their always to support you :)

  • Hi

Thank you for your support. Keep enjoying

  • hi bhavana,

i like ur all videos n recepies but plz dont make fool of people..in this video..easily it is noticable that u r saying 4 spoons of oil n adding it just to show but really u r adding more...in other videos also u directly start with seasoning in pan, u dont shoe how much oil u took in the pan..

    plz stop doin this

  • Hi Pinkal..

Thank you. But the question is why would I fool people? It's not my nature to fool people. I am always open to everything.

I did say 4 tbsp and I did only added 4 tbsp oil. I think you need to watch this video carefully again. And for all recipes I always try to recommend only how much oil is needed really for healthy option, but it's always everyone's preference how much oil they would like to add.

  • And for other recipes, I naturally start with seasonin because oil suggestion is already shown in ingredients. But thank you for bringing it to attention.

  • Hi

Bhavna, you are right. I like your straight forward, clear pesonality. I am surprised how did Pinkal2all think you added more oil while we only saw four times as well. And I did make fafda with your recipe adding only 4 tbsp oil, and they were exactly looking like you. Unfortunately, I can't post the image. Otherwise I would have shown. To be hones, I tried many recipe from the net for fafda, not any singel recipe gave me result like yours.

  • Bhavna, please do not follow what others has to say. Your recipe videos are great and they work for most of us. I can say this becasue I always read other's comment and then I usually try..but in your case, now I try many recipes on the same day you post if I have all the ingredients available since I can't wait once i see the image of your recipes...Great work... keep rocking!!

  • Hi Bhavna!

Your recipes are very accurate as far as measurement. It's just common sense to add/omit according to your taste/preference. You are doing great...

  • Hi

You did say that you like my videos so keeep enjoying would love to hear from you. Thank you

  • hi you might have your individual opinion but dont you think calling her fooling people is bit too harsh and has no logic lol

  • Hi Vadita!

How are you? Thank you for your support. I have noticed that people write comment like this for many reason. It's funny because earlier I had a comment like this and I went to commentor's profile and found out that he/she had blog for indian food recipe and he/she wanted to make me down..may be...but interesting...how come people would be so selfish? I am not trying to compete with someone here. I am just trying to share my own passion...but not everyone is same..so..

  • Wow . My first response would have been "MARRY ME". But we are both happily married, just not to each other....too bad . LOL.

God one since you are not using any kind of soda, or baking powder.

BTW the knife you are using is easily available in hardware stores. Its a basic hack saw blade.

  • Hi

Thank you...I wish my husband would tell me something!!

Thank you for sharing info about knife since I am not much into fixing hardware, I didn't get idea so I just recommended box cutting knife(I think it's bad idea) that I know of.

  • @SuperVeggieDelight

Lol My wife has a similar complaint too. Don't worry, all men are the same.

  • Hi

Isn't it great that each and every woman is different...just kidding!! By the way, my husband is a greatest husband in this world!! Can't complain...

  • Is Sanchal black salt or papad khar?

  • Hi

You got it right. If you go to indian grocers, it says papad khar. Thank you for reminding me this name. I am very used to telling Sanchal so never thought of papad khar. Really appreciate your comment.

  • thanks a ton for this

  • Hi

You most welcome and keep enjoying

  • Bhavna, how can one make the chilies without a microwave ?

  • Hi

Very good question since I forgot to tell that you can simply fry the chilies. Don't forget to cut in center otherwise it will explode. Once you fry, sprinkle some salt immediately and it taste great with any gujarati snacks such as Khaman, khandvi, fafda, bhajia and many more...keep enjoying Thank you

  • wow nice recipe..what is sanchal?? Is it a fruit salt, ENO??

  • Hi

Sanchal is not fruit slat or ENO. butLook for this in Indian markets, either ground or in lumps. It's more tan than black(also available white), and has a very strong, sulfuric flavor. Substitutes: table salt(Table salt is just suggestion but you can use baking soda instead of Sanchal.

  • Hi

Just getting back with you The "sanchal" is "papad khar" actually. Even though I know about it, it almost went off of my mind...Thanks to Dina who reminded me...So when you go to Indian grocers, it says "papad kharo" on the bag. so enjoy

  • Hi Bhavna

Wow, first video ever for this recipe. Love it! Very informative...Thank you for your hard work. I definitely have to show this video to all my friends. Great Job as always.
