The session rate was about £12 for a 3 hour session in those days.. maybe even less? I didn't enter the session scene until around 72 - 73. Will have to ask Robin Jones the percussionist. He might remember.
@tbridge001 Probably right.. more like £7 a session. But Kenny would have been on the top rate regardless. I waa doing a gig in Beirut at The Caves Du Roy in1967 for £7 a week! I even had to get permission from the Home Office to go ..I was 17 at the time.
Damn!! Thats some seriously bumping jazz. Who's on the drums? The one in the turtleneck goes absolutely ballistic at the end. Also, Dizzy's cheeks are out of this worldl!! Most fun I've had in ages.
@romamruin Kenny was an old friend of mine, and the greatest session drummer of the time (possibly ever...) he did things even on straightforward pop singles that I've not seen before or since (listen again to Cilla Black's singles for example, some fabulous drumming going on!)
@tbridge001 He waa great musician & a fabulous drummerr.. I totally agree. He & Ronnie Verrell did so much of the studio work, I got to see & meet Ronnie on a few sessions, along with Martin Kershaw, but unfortunately never met Kenny. Being a drummer myself - I know & appreciate the contribution he made in the musical field.

Dizzy was great and a Genius but i personally liked Freddie Hubbard's solos because they spoke out more.
