Can I use gestures inside of an object? I am looking to create a simple hud where I click it and it will play my gesture. Or if I can find where they store the animations built into SL. I'd just drag and rop animation and sound I want. The sound I uploaded myself. I just would have to figure out the code to make them both play. Maybe even define a spot on the object that when clicked with mouse would trigger it like a normal hud. Where I find this info?

The eff? This is an amazing tutorial and all (thanks for leading me to Audacity... kind of) but I'm still having problems.

I'm doing everything that's been told several times but it won't ever either A) convert the file to "Riff Wave" (as SL calls it) or B) make it 44.1khz like it needs to be; Audacity won't convert those "little details" as they need to be on it's own. Is it because my file is too short when it comes out? It comes out to be 1 1/2 seconds.

boo, i don't have the option to export my sound as a WAV file on this beta version of audacity. It makes the file a wave as i save it, however an error window appears saying something about: " " missing form blah blah blah blah.

yeah i dunno what those quotation marks mean either. Down with Beta versions of EVERYTHING. UP with Torley Linden...always thought it was a girl Linden but nope. Apparently not :)

@ekamau20 in second life, when your making a gesture, click sound then add, then make the sound what you want, then repeat and do that again, the more times you put the sound on, the louder it gets

@t0mt you could so this with a guesture, adding 10 second wait times after each sound, you could do this with a script in an object to. :3

the sound I want to convert starts off as 100 htz. Changing it to the correct hertz rate makes it sound like it sucked a butt load of helium. How do I get it to not do that?

I've uploaded a couple of sound gestures using audaici on Mac they work fine but for some reason the level of the sound is very low compare to other gesturs I have. I can hardly hear it when there is music in a club for example. I've tryed amplyfying the waves in Audacity n still no change... any help?

Aha. I think I have found a way around the "File does not appear to be a supported sample rate ( must be 44.1k)" error. Once you have set the values noted in this tutorial, copy the entire clip (Select it, then Edit -> Copy), then open a new window (File -> New), and paste them in. It should retain the values, and you can then export to Second Life. Reply to this message if it works.

@OwnD2007 Thank you very much. That did the trick. Some people may have noticed if you choose 16-bit and 44100Hz from the track drop-down menu that after doing so it made their sound file speed up and sound chipmunky. Go up to Effect -> Change Speed, and play with the slider (moving it to the left to slow it down) until it sounds right again. THEN after it sounds right, Edit-> Copy, File -> New, Edit -> Paste and you should be good to go.

Download can be corrupt I think! I clicked on "Download...Stable:1.2.....Win­dows", then clicked on the link "Audacity 1.2.6 installer" which took me to SOURCEFORGE. However I must say that the first download took a LONG time and I was suspicious!! So, somehow I found a "Download Manually" link. I reckon that using the "direct link", would work just as well though.

You might have to open the basic windows sound recorder. Then open up the sound file then go save as and check to format it shows choose Thee 44.1K option then it should work.

Audacity has a beta out now, v 1.3. You might try that. Also, in the preferences check default rate to 44.100 khz. Or...could be another SL glitch on uploads. I have had several fail, only to work perfectly when I tried later.

I made the default rate 44.1k khz before and it seemed to have no effect; however I did find out that every time I saved the sound as 44,100 Khz and reopened it, it said it was 22,050 Khz and the sound played as if it had been sped up. I'll try the new beta and see what that does for it, Thanks

AH. Torley I did this perfectly, using a 6 second sound clip, and it just won't work. I used the right rate, as you did, (44100Hz), and yet when I attempt to upload it to SL it says the rate is not supported?
