inFamous is a fun game with good dialogue and story. Prototype is fun, but has a poor, non creative, and muddled storyline. Prototype is also known for its embarrassingly cheesy one liners written to make Alex seem bad-ass, but does the exact opposite. In short, I think inFamous is more for those who are into story complexity, and Prototype is more for the middle schooler and fraternity boy crowd.

I own both games for the PS3 and I would say that Infamous is clearly the better game. Prototype doesn't have nearly the right amount of polish, the controls are a bit clunky and Alex has a tendency to jump off buildings and run in the wrong direction automatically. You have way more finesse controls in Infamous. Also the story is better and the character is better, and the city feels more alive. Prototype never draws you in and creates the suspension of disbelief.
oh and inf lacks variety id have to say. in proto it matches the gamers playstyle. if your more of a stealthy guy take on a disguise and consume (you can eat ppl buahaha) your way to victory. if you like making things go boom you can grab almost anything and throw it at it ppl or even pick up dead soldiers rifles,rpgs,etc or hijack a tank or chopper. and if you want blood get out ur claws and cut ppl in half. in inf i like the diff ways u use electricity but in the end your just gonna shock him
i love karma system too and i enjoy having good karma you know being the hero and every1 loves you but i realized heroic sides tend to have less boom. when i played prototype i realized being a hero in that game would be boring cuz he can blow up tanks throw cars in the air kick a chopper 50ft from the ground and overall just more vicious. whats the use of havin all that power if everyone likes you? so inf has a rpg feel to it but proto makes inf combat look so tiny in comparison

i got prototype for the 360 because i didnt have a ps3 at the time i personally thought prototype had a really short story but the missions were really callenging and had some strategy also since i know this video was made a while back in prototype you can consume and become anyone you please which i thought was really cool except infected characters which would have made the game way better if you can become a hunter.

I dont think you can really respect most of the opinions that people like Prototype over InFamous they'll say InFamous completely sucks and prototype owns it to shit. IMO Infamous looks like a better game due to how much you can do (good evil wise) and prototype you'll bore of it faster. Very Good games. I like both alot but infamous a little better.
also in prototype you can comsume, and if you consume a military person, you can grab another soldier and pretend like HE is alex mercer and the military shoot him on sight, its awesome, and just putting it out there, inFAMOUS looks like assassin's creed with electricity, which is pretty cool
there is what radical calls New Game+ it lets you go through the whole game again with the upgrades and powers you got when you finished the game, also prototype is longer, and harder to beat so 20-30 hours becomes around 55 hours. oh and prototype has better parkour, you can glide by holding RT and hitting A twice, jump over cars and obstacles by holding RT, and you can sprint up and along streets and buildings.
Um...no. I mean GTAIV was the better game from a technical standpoint but Saint's Row was just plain fun. It's the same thing with Infamous and Prototype(respectively)

Ok...Parkour is the easiest method of moving from point A to point B...and it is definately NOT easy...maybe jumping a couple feet is, but actual parkour is very difficult, because I have been training to do parkour for a long time...get it straight...

The Lame thing about PROTOTYPE is that the Le Parkour is really overnatural. while in inFamous it more realistik, a little cheap but more realistik.
But still I would rater by Assassins Creed 2 than any of these 2 games because it is Real life parkour, and nothing overnatural. :P But still I think both games look awesome :D

No...more like Overnatural Parkour as Suuunly said...it really is not cheap, while inFamous parkour doesn't look very realistic graphic wise...and by the way, you can't judge a game by its developer...look at other games...while activision is a great developer, Redstorm, the developer of the Conflict series, is almost just as good...they just haven't made nearly as many games...

parcour isn't a game term, it's the term used for the act of geting from a-b as quickly and as smoothly as possible, with little or no wasted movement.
yes which is why it's used to describe certain platforming games now. It's a term of the industry now. it just means easy platforming. Like Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed or Infamous to name a few.
O.k. 1st off I think u'r review was solid&that the comparisons were great. I also find inFamous 2 be the game I'd like more. I love good stories&effective moral choices. 2 me Prototype mostly looks like an altered version of the HULK game, but with a far better story. I don't have a PS3, however, since the news of inFamous I have been given that much more of a reason to get 1. I like to compare these 2 characters to Batman and Superman, Cole being batman and Alex being superman.
Cole is cunning, creative, and very mortal. He needs to make a plan to overcome his enemies, and he will not become redundant in his endeavors.
Alex has SO many powers and is insanely good. He is nearly unkillable and he does the same thing all the time: blows shit up and kills tons of people.
I don't see Prototype being as replayable as inFAMOUS because of it's redundancies.

i got prototype for the 360 because i didnt have a ps3 at the time i personally thought prototype had a really short story but the missions were really callenging and had some strategy also since i know this video was made a while back in prototype you can consume and become anyone you please which i thought was really cool except infected characters which would have made the game way better if you can become a hunter.

@thatdoomguy666 Not sure why I didn't respond to this but first off this wasn't a review seeing as neither game was out. This video was just using the facts that I knew about each him and making a judgement on what I think would turn out better.
I knew more about Infamous than prototype which is why I focused on it more.

me, i'm with infamous purly for the fact that prototype seems a bit too original i mean you've got these powers you know how to use them more less from the word go and you want to know who did this too you inFAMOUS however it's really the karma system better than many of the others SW TFU for example and also i'm not a PS3 fanboy or Xbox 360 either i've given each equal chance and infamous to mee just seems cooler i don't know why but it just does roll on inFAMOUS 2

i've played both... but i rather own infamous... because you can replay the game when ur finished... one reason is because of trophies.. and because there's 2 ending.. but still.. prototype is good too... i love the "butcher" trophy... lol kill 50 ppl in 5 sec

i have a PS3 so im gettin both games but ive played both games also (played prototype on X-Box though) both games are BADASS!!!!! so i would get both if i were u. i dont really no which ones better because there both fuckin awesome!!!!!

both are very cool games but i like inFamous better because of Sucker Punch's Sly Sereis my fav this is what i think.

I dont think you can really respect most of the opinions that people like Prototype over InFamous they'll say InFamous completely sucks and prototype owns it to shit. IMO Infamous looks like a better game due to how much you can do (good evil wise) and prototype you'll bore of it faster. Very Good games. I like both alot but infamous a little better.

also in prototype you can comsume, and if you consume a military person, you can grab another soldier and pretend like HE is alex mercer and the military shoot him on sight, its awesome, and just putting it out there, inFAMOUS looks like assassin's creed with electricity, which is pretty cool

there is what radical calls New Game+ it lets you go through the whole game again with the upgrades and powers you got when you finished the game, also prototype is longer, and harder to beat so 20-30 hours becomes around 55 hours. oh and prototype has better parkour, you can glide by holding RT and hitting A twice, jump over cars and obstacles by holding RT, and you can sprint up and along streets and buildings.

I Personally go for Prototype its more like PLain fun Hack and slash, Overpowered awesemness.
Infamous (Only got Demo) Its more like Hiding Shooter.. ish.. (Y got grenades :l)
its more polished, and more graphical inavative, but its not as much fun :)
Btw, You're a good reviewer, 1st I tought you was a sorta guy who flames anything en uses the word (censored) too much.

Um...no. I mean GTAIV was the better game from a technical standpoint but Saint's Row was just plain fun. It's the same thing with Infamous and Prototype(respectively)

btw people infamous and prototype are both fun but personally i prefer infamous its graphics are not only better but so is its game play in prototype crapppy developer made the incredible hulk and prototype has just 10 tones of blood i thought chopppin people up would be fun forever but got boring btw i got both game s :P

Ok...Parkour is the easiest method of moving from point A to point B...and it is definately NOT easy...maybe jumping a couple feet is, but actual parkour is very difficult, because I have been training to do parkour for a long time...get it straight...

The Lame thing about PROTOTYPE is that the Le Parkour is really overnatural. while in inFamous it more realistik, a little cheap but more realistik.
But still I would rater by Assassins Creed 2 than any of these 2 games because it is Real life parkour, and nothing overnatural. :P But still I think both games look awesome :D

Hey awesome "vs" man. all the other vs vidoes with inFamous and Prototype I have seen are so unprofesional, they just talk bad about the game they don't like as much :P
btw: I would go with inFamous, because I love RPG games and I do gymnastik/Parkour, so catches more on and I own all Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed games (proberly going to buy both because I have so much money in the moment)

Infamous is more traditional Parkour.

Cheap parkour? No...more like Overnatural Parkour as Suuunly said...it really is not cheap, while inFamous parkour doesn't look very realistic graphic wise...and by the way, you can't judge a game by its developer...look at other games...while activision is a great developer, Redstorm, the developer of the Conflict series, is almost just as good...they just haven't made nearly as many games...

both games are cool but i just feel prototype is much more badass, it feels like ur just an unstoppable demon, u can run up the side of buildings, hop over cars and crush tanks, helicopters aren't even safe.

i go for prototype its fucking cool...ive played infamous but it just doesnt have as much powers as prototype...infamous graphics r far more better since of course its on ps3 but games arent about graphics they r about having fun n kicking ass in gameplay...360 sucks:)

first all - great review!
But i did feel that you left a little bit out.
For the gameplay, I feel you heavily favored infamous. now i have been playing prototype for several days now, and when you just said "in prototype you just kill everything in your way"
The thing about protype is the character is so bad ass and there is so miuch stuff you can do I think it completely annhiliates the karma system.
In prototype youa re just a fuckin badass and its crazy.....its flat out great

I do have both consoles, I will more than likey have both games down the road.
But obviously i will be buying inFAMOUS first. The demo just had me sold right from the get go.
Who know i may even buy Prototype for the 360.

its an 0k game i guess i rented and beat it in 5 days there's no reason to spend 60 on it. Its fun to play for an hour or 2 but i enjoyed the look and feel of infamous better this game lacks polish and a storyline like infamous.

u can use guns in prototype
u can be anyone
u can use helicopters and tanks
u can pickup stuff and throw it on anyone and anything
in prototype is real NY not somekinda cheap copy of it
its more fun to play as alex cuz he looks better
its fun to swich skills and its easy too cuz of slow motion
and all parkour and flying stuff is not getting boring its getting more fun cuz of things u discover
u can tell military what to do if u transform as military comander

i loved your review. i have a PS3. and i got prototype. yes it needs polishing but if it got polished anymore or made any better thay would have to change the game title from prototype to "Game Of The Gods" (i know its cheesy) get back to me on this. thanks :)

parcour isn't a game term, it's the term used for the act of geting from a-b as quickly and as smoothly as possible, with little or no wasted movement.

yes which is why it's used to describe certain platforming games now. It's a term of the industry now. it just means easy platforming. Like Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed or Infamous to name a few.

O.k. 1st off I think u'r review was solid&that the comparisons were great. I also find inFamous 2 be the game I'd like more. I love good stories&effective moral choices. 2 me Prototype mostly looks like an altered version of the HULK game, but with a far better story. I don't have a PS3, however, since the news of inFamous I have been given that much more of a reason to get 1. I'm going to be getting it by (hopefully) next week&the 1st game I'll buy will be: inFamous! Thx 4 the info.
