What is an idiot? A republican who voted for Bush! What is a sucker? A republican who voted for Bush and wants now to vote for McBush!! sorry, McCain!
A swift withdrawal from Iraq would be far more likely to cause a region wide conflict than securing the nation. If Iraq were to implode it would cause choas in the region adn convince Iran to press ahead with it nuclear plans.
If we can provide the Iraqi government with a secure environment then it will encourage stability and peace in the region and push Iran into abandoning its nuclear ambitions.
The greater risk is in withdrawal and the prospect of Iraq becoming a failed state.

Sorry, what are you on about? Where did I say anything about the serving troops or imply a lack of respect for them?
If America pulls out it will be like Korea? No, only idiot thinks that America has left Korea. And yes, look at Vietnam whose now becoming a strong nation. With a Harvard graduate President when Obama wins.
Republicans in America state that the SURGE used to enforce and construct hundreds of small areas of confinement is a Success and use the Death Rate as proof that there policy is working.
The US Army Generals fail to report and attempt to hide the True Facts of the Declined Death rate that is costing the US Tax Payers Billions a month in Bribes to Iraqi Militia's.
Several Religious and Melita Leaders are being payed in cold hard Cash not to attack them.
When you have a bull running amok in a china shop, do you get the bull to fix it? Send the bill to the owner, and let the shop-owner decide how to fix it.
That's for them to decide. A LEGITIMATE Iraqi government would be unlikely to get the bull to try to fix the china, since the bull is incapable of fixing it. (It is the fact that they are US troops that is inciting probably 90% of the trouble.) The "shop owner" may well engage someone else to fix the problem, instead of the bull. (eg. a force of peacekeepers from the League of Arab Nations; or from Organization of The Islamic Conference). Send the bill to the owner of the bull. (i.e US taxpayer)
e.g: Sunni troops from a majority sunni nation can "police" majority sunni neighborhoods; shiite troops from a majority shiite nation can police majority shiite neighborhoods. The forces are sensitive to the local populations, meaning less civilian killings, and FAR less opposition to their presence. The US taxpayer - whom is picking up the tab, anyway - pays the bill, of all the forces present, but (1) less trouble = less troops necessary, and (2) even with weak USD, exchange rates mean cheaper
This war has cost us more than it has been worth in every way possible. It was conceived in aggression, justified to us with lies and deceptions, bungled at every step for 6 years, leaves us with a stronger al Qaeda still to be dealt with, and the Republicans have the audacity to gloat because they finally got one tactic right, at best mitigating the damage caused by their ineptitude. More foolish than their gloating is their contention that they and their warmongering are somehow vindicated.
if only there was a nation that could liberate us in the USA to change our regime. if we have to have either obama or mccain then we mind as well stay with bush. there all the same.
The troops have not calmed the violence. Iraqi agents for Green Zone officials continue to seek asylum in Syria. Mainstream media gags stop the violence, or at the very least halt the coverage.
Have you noticed the increasing amount of attention being given to drug trade in Culiacan - a trading center in Mexico? MSM is prepping for Iran and possibly for direct intervention in Mexico. The two could be connected... Iran-Contra is revived in Iran-Narco?
john mccains gonna cause the u.s to get a brand new crater. youd better shut him up. right now some muslim is thinking of taking up john mccains dare

Afghanistan used to be the greater problem here. We brought Al Qaeda into Iraq, however, and so we need to fix our mistake.

I've always said analogies like that don't work with the real world. The Iraqi government is too weak to do anything about the insurgents.

Arabs eh? That's actually a good idea, as they understand the culture better.

What, are you serious? The civil war in Iraq is mostly Sunnis/Shiites targeting and killing the the minority group, often unprovoked.

lol, or maybe the MSM is preparing for Iran attack footage.
I love how they say they want them "out of Iraq". What they should be saying is "Bring them home from Iraq." Obama and McCain are the same.

If it has to do with drugs then the Drug Industry is involved. Heroin crops in Afghanistan were shipped to the US drug industries.
Organjic 3 years ago
I feel you - I recall an AP article mentioning that US troops would not disturb heroin production or trade in the Middle East.
I've heard the oil-related theories on why we entered the way. Oil is the elephant. Might drugs also be a major factor?
