There's a lot of mediating factors. Violent media DOES have SOME influence on people, but it's not a direct link, and it doesn't happen with everyone. There's certain things that are more likely to predispose a person to being influenced by violent media etc.

God I miss the days when games where made out of love and required skill and thinking to operate. Nowdays games are designed cashcows, glittering bullshit for the mindless with sequels released exactly 17 seconds after the original. The same applies to soundtracks - Q2 is amongst very few games during developement which somebody actually payed attention to how important music can be in building the right atmosphere for the game. I fell in love with Sonic Mayhem ever since Q2.

aint that the truth. and games that were once good now have grown into that. look at quake 3 and quake live. same fucking thing, and not very good. quake 4 was eh though. hell, i just got Army Of Two: The 40th Day, and its not that great. its exactly as you described most games now a-days. also the same with Left 4 Dead 2. it took them like a year to make the same thing, and people just eat it up (literally a year. L4D came out November 15 2008, L4D2 came out November 17 2009)
