-If Glados wanted Chell dead she could have just let the turrets shoot her, either in the elevator or if she wanted to be sure with the turret "opera" at the end (how would Chell beat the animal king turret?!)

-Glados could have attacked Chell while she was unconscious, or at least removed the portal gun

-At 7:53 4 turrets are staring at a badly damaged companion cube. Just like the one ejected at the end

-The end song is basically about a mother saying goodbye to her daughter

One possible explanation is that Glados could not actually delete her host, Caroline, so she had to give her restricted powers. Perhaps that included control over the turrets.

3) "And remember, bring your duaghter to work day is the best time to have her tested" - GLaDOS in Portal.

The data showed the multiple attempts on killing Chell and how they ended for both Glados and Wheatley so it was easier to just give her the boot than deal with the constant non-dyingness Chell always brings with her.

The thing that always impressed me about Portal 2 was GLaDOS's model. They added so much subtle articulation to it so that even though it's basically a pile of electrical bits and a light, it express emotion in a sort of fluid, unnatural way. Like it perfectly conveys "this isn't natural" to the part of the viewer's brain that's supposed to be alarmed about that.

I just beat this game tonight for the first time, I was so impressed with it. It went beyond what I expected and had a truly satisfying ending. Most games fall apart in the final act but not Portal 2, a true thrilling ride all through its final chapters with a sweet, funny, and creative ending.

I can argue with myself all day. But right after Chell returned to earth after going to the moon, you could hear a small version of "Cara Mia Addio" and the companion cube hummed it in that one test chamber. So either GLaDOS planned to "delete" Caroline, or knew she was Caroline, gave Chell hints of the turret opera, and faked deleting Caroline. Conspiracy much? But that's too far fetched! Valve can't even count to 3! Not to mention, come up with a conspiracy of that magnitude!

I would fully expect GLaDOS to pull that kind of maneuver. It fits her personality perfectly: The egomaniacal queen of her own little world, in complete control. Add to the fact that GLaDOS is a pathological liar and there's your conspiracy. She may not have known she was Caroline (At least consciously, subconsciously is another matter), but she does thoroughly enjoys tormenting Chell. I imagine Chell found the knowledge of Caroline's deletion pretty distressing.
