  • this is bat-mobile technology.. but electric version..

  • молодци Volvo так держать технорогии в народ

  • Excellent video. See my channel electric motor new design. It is very original model of electric motor (it has no accelerating coil, special phase-shifting devices and condensers).

  • making electric cars is not the problem! its energy storage. I worked on inverters thress phase and single phase for 20 years, a reliable powerfull quick turnarroun is what we need. HYDROGEN is the only answer at the moment. Look at Iceland as an example

  • first you have to explain gravity! then understand it! then use it! i am afraid we have another 500 years to go still!

  • @delapeyre that's funny because I can explain it now and in a few words..gravitons and electromagnetism electromagnetism can repel a like electromagnetic field..if we new what the most common field of our planet was then we could generate a field with in the bottom of a vehicle and become buoyant on land and delete what we call flying !!.. we rotate the sun our moon rotates around our planet inertia is canceled out in the process and we remain stationary and grounded which acts like a force

  • @DerrickB82

Gravity is the fuel that powers the universe, in all its forms! Every atom in your body every star every grain of sand on every beach, was formed by the force of gravity! It compressed matter in super massive black holes and blasted it out into the cosmos to cool down coalesce and reform young stars which go nova and produce carbon! Which are you and me? If this didn’t happen we would not be here to talk shit. LOL

The story of gravity is written into our genes and our ancestors!

  • @delapeyre What the hell does that have to do with how people get to work?

  • @delapeyre Earth rotates horizontally and the moon rotates vertically which cancels inertia or at least that's what I'm claiming happens lol..anyways if I'm totally wrong about the gravity its the earths magnetic field that's more important and useful in our mobility situation dilemma whatever you want to call it..repel the magnetosphere using high voltage and magnetism and where good...Go Aliens go give us your power bwahaha

  • There is another way. All one has to do is to change the direction of the pull of gravity.

  • holding up the tech as long as they could and when they finally let it out their gonna sell it like only Donald Trump and Bill Gates can afford it

  • cant wait to see my electricity bill when I'm 40.

  • Turn Junk yard vehicles alive again with hub wheels.

  • hub wheels will be a definite hope for converting all existing cars to electric vehicles. We need a packaged design for two front wheels and all wheels drive models. Test, test, and test are keys for modern industry. Just pass these technology around so they are tested and established as some basic models.

  • we need nuclear powered cars!!!

  • New concept? I'd say Volvo is about 100 years behind, Ferdinand Porsche made an electric/internal combustion hybrid very similar to this... in 1906.

  • 2015 fucken work faster and harder dumb shits world will probably come t o an end before any of this shit goes into production

  • Volvo ! Stop with the concept ! Put this car in production and on the road by 2013 !! Hurry up !!

  • Ok awsome... we have tons of cars that run on electricity... now, where are we currenty getting this electricity. oh yea. where talking about how good it is to burn coal... well theres another fossil fuel, one that won't last forever. but hey do you know were all of our energy on our planet comes from in one way or another... The Sun... Fossil fuels are decaying carbon based organic organisms that have spent there intire life span relying on the sun for energy. so why dont we go to the sorce

  • @fmxrider414 and so the best idea would be to use solar panels to get electricity, or maybe wind, or whatever. With an EV you MIGHT be using coal, but you CAN use solar. With a gas engine your also not restricted to fossil fuels like gasoline, they can run biofuels. But EVs are more efficient either way, and so even if they are charged using coal, they are still polluting much less than a gas engine. Besides they're are plenty of power plants that don't use coal anyways.

  • What's up with his teeth?

  • the more car companies that build these the worse off we are

the oil companies own these automakers and the only reason their designing electric vehicles is to lock up the patents

some places are already illegal to have cars that don`t run on gas

its the governments highways, not ours

  • Sank you Mr Roboto! In wheer motol desirgn is the fyoutoor!

  • Petrol cars are dinosaurs... electric is the way to go..and TESLA will be the winner..not ford, toyota, nissan, gm, volvo, honda(sucks)..and all others..only TESLA MOTORS!!!

  • @XELLTRONICS

Telsa stock is tailspining everyday. No one believes Tesla can make it

  • @ruflower No its not!

Now the IPO is ended. Its up all the way. Watch them by googling "TSLA".

I'm not a fanboy of Tesla but we should wish them well. :)

  • @XELLTRONICS electric is the way to go, this is OK if all electricity is 100% "green" power, but it isn't......and of course when the average working class man can afford one of these electric cars !

  • das erste hybrid auto das wirklich taugt

  • This is even better than the Chevy Volt / Opel Ampera, at least in theory. A four wheel drive car with, what is basically, a KERS system in each wheel.

Brilliant concept, hopefully it will go forward.

Maybe the Chinese Geely company won't hurt Volvo's Image after all.

  • they're still talking about hybrid - doh!

  • i'd buy it. in a heart beat.

  • They are finding it really painful to admit that these cars can be and are so much better than everything that they currently sell.

  • how about tire level flood??????

  • What's the hold-up? Why not sell these cars right now?!!!!

  • That is the Answer to the Global Warming. Go For it, start production.

How much it cost in US$???

  • Ya the electricity is cheap now, what happens when the demand goes up... If all the cars are electric the government will tax the shit out of it, just like gas...

  • this is 100% wrong concept because the battery will drian its power quickly why?because charging a battery as its giving power to motors will be very hard or not efficient or will charge it about 20% in 60mile driving so it will need to be charged everyday which is not practical, what is the right concept of this?im making a car that will need charging once a week or 12 days or more i will make my prototype soon but right now i dont have the means to do it but i have the idea,

  • reticulating spline

  • I only hope that we will NOT have to drive ugly ass little eco-boxes and that we can get some good looking cars like this to drive.

  • you are shallow LOL

  • @depatricio Shallow? The car won't sell if it doesn't look good. Plus there's the problem about what to do when you need to throw away the battery, and what if the car catches fire? City cars just need smaller turbo engines and to be lighter. Or to use the Eco-boost engines like what Ford uses.

  • 2015? Are you kidding me. If car companies spent more time building these in large numbers, than going to car shows, maybe they would be doing their job, and saving the planet at the same time. We should have this type of car now, we could have had it years ago too, remember the EV1? Car companies are too reliant on outside oil funding. And they don't want us energy independent. We either do it ourselves or it never gets done.

  • I agree with you big times. Many times I have seen promotional electric cars, example VOLT by Chevy all of sudden stopped commercial and delayed projects. More people started to convert privately, they are getting really fed up, I will be one of them when I can afford conversion.

  • I'd make a company doing conversions and making my new design of Zero Emission Vehicle if I had the funding. The most expensive piece of my design is the sliver cell solar panels, but there are alternatives. Also when this guy is asked when it is going to be available, he says it depends on his suppliers. Bullshit, if suppliers say it's gonna take too long, get a new supplier and tell the old one to fuck off. Business is not meant to be friendly. Get it done now, or Get the fuck out of my sight.

  • exactly right!

This has to be a "grassroots" movement. In addition electric cars actually cost way less as the power train is much less complex mechanically because there are way less moving parts...so you have hardly any maintainace costs...sth. the car companies don't like because they can't sell spare parts anymore :D ...well, that's just too bad because it will and HAS to happen

  • Trust me I'm building a car before I plan on buying an EV. Its a waste of time waiting for these idiots.

  • @nightsoul2003 I'm not surprised.

I hope it all goes well. Check out Kearons

EV Capri and his bike Catavolt. Their a good

starting point for ideas for yours.

  • why can't he open his mouth when he talks?

  • 62 miles on BATTERIES ALONE. the car has an on board generator that starts when the batteries are down. Most people use their cars for less than 100 km per day and for those days that they will go further than that the generator will keep you going.

  • thats without the gas engine running

  • It was vaporware 2 years ago... now it is just a lie...

  • I was encouraged when he said the delay was due to suppliers......

  • nice :)

  • 2015! Good grief!

  • You have two choices: 1) Complain about the current situation and call for an all powerful government to do "something" about it. 2) Get an engineering degree, get some business smarts and learn about how capitalism works to bring the products that people want.

You cant snap your finger and poof electric cars. This is part of the gradual solution.

Of course the second solution requires people to have a working brain, with the first people only need a working mouth.

  • Nice points - I have an engineering degree and worked on a elec-conversion sports car for a year. Very fun and rewarding feeling that I was contributing to something like the new Model T. Someday I can tell my kids I was there doing and not just blathering about it : )

  • Great comment, but never call on the government to help. They could care less for the environment and their only tool to fix it is higher taxes.

  • @XCritonX electric vehicles can't be implimented just yet, when eveyone comes home from work and plugs it in, the whole power system will go down. we need 3 phase 415volt outlets in our houses (or 208v 3phase for americans), battery technology needs to improve, as lead acids, lipo's and ni-cads are all quite poisonous and / or explosive. charging posts would also have to be installed, we have a long way to go before it will become commonplace

  • OfficialFBBTV

    1. Yes and it start only when you are out of battery. So you dont have to stop and recarge the battery on a longer trip.

    2. Like every electic car that has been made.

    3. Do you really think that 2015 is quick? And what is so good about Eliica?

  • put this teck in a picup doble or triple up on the baterys and add solar panals for extended range and you woold have my dream car.

  • and then listen at 1.50. god damn, people that say a power plant is so not green, think about how you pump that dirty gas in to your car, by using electricity as well!!!!

  • when there is a hurricane and we lose power..... what then?

    1.Strike FEAR

    2.Limit options

    3.Capitalize on options

  • Why is Obama okay with Iran going nuclear, but not okay with us. If we're going to build a bigger electric infrastructure, we need more electricity. Wind and solar ain't gonna cut it.

  • Ever heard of nuclear waste, and if every home had solar or wind (or both)systems we would produce more electric power then we need. We need to stop doing the same old thing and stop making the same old mistakes. Free energy from sun and wind! When will we learn people!

  • All the waste in a year from a nuclear power plant can be stored under a desk.

  • I wouldn't want to seat at that desk. My sperm might grow legs and start walking out by itself.

  • If you demand raw numbers: in 2002, there were 47,023.40 metric tonnes of high-level waste in the USA. 105,793 GW-days of thermal energy has been produced by nuclear power plants throughout the years to create that waste. Also in 2002, operating reactors added 2,407.20 metric tonnes [1] (1 metric tonne = 1000 kg). We are going to need a bigger desk!

  • In the USA It runs on COAL !!!!

  • 2015? well hurry up, what are you waiting for?

  • Fabulous engineering and a great step in the right direction. It comes down to range doesn't it.

  • after reading your comment several times, I still have no idea what you're trying to say, or even if you like the car-- BAAAAA?!

  • If you've ever driven an electric car, you'd see that this is the future. They get great acceleration and are quiet. No more maintenance PITA on ancient internal combustion engines!

  • Hear hear my friend. Imagine no more brake pads / rotors, fuel filters, head gaskets, spark plugs, exhaust crap, intake crap, air filters, oil filters, oil, brake fluid, coolant, radiators etc. . . all that stupid inefficient stuff will be GONE. I can't WAIT.

  • You don't really have to wait, all you have to have is a bit of cash, a gasoline car you can convert, some time, and some persistence. There are resources online for helping you do an EV conversion. Go for it... I'm almost finished doing my own conversion now, and when possible have been driving an EV conversion a friend did... it's quiet, very cheap to drive and LOTS of fun.

  • ha the white and green colors remind me of something microsoft would make but i still like the car

  • unsprung weight.......... thats my comment.

  • First things that came to my mind are increased unsprung weight with the motors in the wheels. This could adversely affect handling on uneven surfaces. And while the roads in Sweden and the UK may be in decent shape, here in the US the roads are falling apart, so I would worry about those motors getting beaten to death by potholes and badly patched roads here.

  • That car looks awesome.

  • its all BS...EV tech exists for ages...they just wanna sell petrol.

  • @QuickFolio petrol is an economic resource for some countries.

  • @QuickFolio Exactly, there were electric cars in the 1930s, but just like the VHS/Betamax format war the worst tech won

I've been hearing about elec motors in the wheels cars for years, what's the hold up? Can't piss off the oil corps I guess, we still need an ice in there like the Prius. Why did Toyota have to go with this combo ice/electic bullshit, why not get rid of the engine entirely, or just have one for recharging, which could be any fuel burning engine, like a turbine/fuel cell

  • why not use the front volvo decal as door for the plug-in device? it will make the the front look cleaner without the ugly door on the bumper.

  • 2015????? what's the point of doing promotion at this early stage?? wouldn't that just gives information to their competitor?

  • No matter how you power it you still get irate drivers, intoxicated drivers, traffic jams, etc. The list goes on.

We have to stop thinking cars and start thinking of new ways to get around. One solution is personal rapid transit, a transit system that combines the benefits of public and private transport. To learn more, type "personal rapid transit" in your search engine.

  • lol teleporting tubes? futurama much?

  • Mini's electric hybrid car has 900 mile range, in-wheel motors which also work to charge the batteries alternate between

motor and generator. There is also a very small gas engine strictly to charge the batteries.

    /watch?v=XdRS7eVVZbU

  • obama will speed up that time to 2010

  • BULL! If you think for a minute that ANY politician will actually do a DANG THING about this you're wrong wrong wrong. I've been in the EV market for many years now and all of them talk a big talk. They throw money places that end up in some fake shell company that isn't actually DOING anything. Just like this promo, they are just looking for investors and they blow the money on lobbies.

  • Yawn.. after 2015... please... these car makers need to work harder...

  • its so the world can end first at 2012, haha

  • juaaaaaa lol u r funny!!! and cruel!!!

  • This is good news, Volvo cars have always had too much emissions..

  • I'm sure "someone" doesnt want this type of car on the market.

  • -the electric motor, generator, control, fuel motor is not a problem.

Batteries, is the problem. Li-ion is great until something goes wrong then they become bombs. It can be triggered by overcharging, overuse, wateringression.

Ok, say we get that under control, then time become a factor.

-they go bad. Did they include the cost of replacing the batteries in the "mileage cost"?

They go bad fast under heavy use. I'm not sure, maybe it is the same as Ni-MH i.e. about 1000 full cycles.

  • what about water shortage ? i read that it takes up too much water

  • huh? could you elaborate further so I'll understand what you mean?

  • the new tesla motors car has a battery pack that will last 100,000 miles and has 6381 small li-ion batteries so if one explodes it causes no harm to the other ones and the car still runs.

  • Curse you, bastards

  • Please, Lord, make it something beyond car show/ lease program hype that the car companies have dished out but never implemented. Volvo is taking a step forward!!! ('bout time- under Ford)... More than 10 years ago Volvo was working on a gas car... This concept is great for its simplicity in terms of manufacturability. An evolutionary cousin of the Segway....

  • Wow, this solves a buch of friction loss issues, Definetly my next car, i was actually thinking about getting the plug in prius, but this seems like a much more advanced car!

  • Batteries are heavy? Thank you, Captain Obvious. The point is that this concept, like many other hybrids, is basically an electric vehicle with a gasoline generator fitted to satisfy the people that irrationally believe all cars should travel hundreds of miles between refueling/charging. It would be very easy to offer this hybrid as a pure EV. Toyota's RAV4-EV can go 100 miles per charge on Ni-Mh batteries. With Li-ion batteries, this concept car could probably do more than twice that range.

  • they can shot this in their behind;)

i don't need to white for this bollshit

Electric is easy to understand and make they have all the money to make at any time.

    talk about control-löl

  • you know guys its not the car companies that are horrible at the dates. its the oil companies. that is the reason the EV-1 didnt really take off. they can say it was the battery tech but it wasnt. i love the concept, and the engine charging the batteries will run at a low rpm so when using the fuel engine the fuel consumption will be much lower as well. kind of like the prius but much better advancements. only from volvo!

  • and 15 gallons of gas, a 1 liter engine, emission control systems, coolant systems, and a high current alternator in the trunk are light components?

  • search gm holdings on you tube then look for the chevy "volt" on the internet. also please get schooled on the propertys of energy before posting bunk like a car that magically recharges while rolling.

  • I agree it's important to be educated with the right facts. But the Volt is a scam because they're offering an inferior system to which existed 10 years ago. It still runs on gas. You can't get E85 in a lot of places except the midwest. And it still only goes 40 miles. So it is no different than a prius but the system under the hood is different. the Saturn Vue Plug-in is not better than the best all-gas car such as the Yaris. It still relies on gas.

  • the electric motor drive in the volt is the only thing that makes the car move, so in that way it is way diffrent than the prius and how can the latest "rare earth magnet" motors be 10 years old.(please search the term "rare earth magnets" before post back) trips under 100 miles at 150 mpg sounds great if they can pull it off.

  • you're gettin technical where it doesn't change anything. What you're saying is an electric motor is made differently.the Volt uses electricity to move but you'll rely on gas and it won't get you150mpg.The plug-in prius gets 100mpg(40mile electric).Gas prices will only go up since there is less of it.

  • Tesla Roadster (made in USA) is way ahead of the pack..check it out, 165 mph, 250 miles between charges..TESLA MOTORS.

  • They should have an option available where you could order one without the gas engine, and 3x the battery capacity in the space where the engine and fuel tank is.

Why are they so afraid to sell a car that never needs gas?

Sure the batteries are expensive, but at least offer the option.

  • The same reason they will never launch the Electric car that recharges by having its wheels roll around (driving). Cause nobody can make money out of it.

  • I agree. But it is also the narrowmindedness of the rich who want to keep the status quo. The era of electric car technology has come and they steadfastly refuse to change and adapt. It's no different than DVDs taking over VCRs. With Electric cars there is a new market growing in electronics. There can always be more add-ons and cool gadgets to add to electric cars such as solar panel accessories to conversion of the car to power household appliances in case of an earthquake.

  • you don't understand physics, my friend... what you're talking about is using the wheels to generate electricity, which is already being done even on hybrids such as the Prius. It can be done, but is creates so much drag on the vehicle that it works like a brake-- turning your car's wheels into full-time generators is NOT a way to extend your driving range between charges.

  • You're right!

New product comes with new market. When one doors closes another opens but too often we're stuck looking at the door closed.

  • Nichen is right, 2015 is ridiculous. All this tech is available now. I do love the motors driving the wheels directly. I have spent thousands of dollars replacing transmissions.Lets get this baby on the road now!!!

  • Motor's in wheels sounds so obvious - drive and brake without a "transmission". The key with "new" car technology like this is always to get away from applying the old ways to the new. The first car's for example were often built like old "stage coaches"! Maybe another lateral thought is not to think that batteries have to be put inside the car in a pack like an old "fuel tank" but to make the car shell the battery itself out of "battery materials".

  • Don't get carried away guys,,, check the website for the company that makes these wheel motors PML, after 5 years of working on them they still admit the car has NEVER driven under it's own power! At that rate it may take till 2015 LOL

  • Bull fuckin shit...2015...this technology already exist and you can buy it today!
