I beleive the frame is the same but the 972 has a larger counter wieght and heavier lift arms and a little more power maybe but same c13 engine

a 972 is basically a 966 with a bigger bucket

@mx6twinturbo Yup, plus a 13 liter engine instead of an 11.1 liter, heavier counter weight, higher dump clearance, more breakout force, higher static tipping load, and it weighs about 3200lbs. more.
