  • Great to see another guitar picker play this tune in G. Most play it in A . I'm sure Buster B could play it in any key he wanted to. LOL

  • Great song. Look at the version by Mike Brock, he burns it up as well - from his lap.

  • speed should be fitted to the FEELING in a piece of music, not the other way around.

  • I sure miss his playing. Some nice licks he got there

  • I always wondered why he said Jerry hated him.He devoted his life to master Jerry's songs and did. plus.Merle's and Chet's too plus his own.

  • 50 bucks says he's singing the words and melody in his head the whole way through. great pickin'. I remember when this guy was living in a trailer in Salem, VA and his only guitar was a $150 Takamine. Truly a great talent and he will be missed. RIP.

  • Buster B is one of my Favs, if not top of the list. Almost went to a Fiddle event he was playing at in Idaho. Decided to catch him later - a decision I'll always regret!! It was one of his last performances.

When ever I need some motivational music (e.g. pedaling up a long, steep hill), its Buster B

I too see little point in ranking the likes of BBJ, JR, CA, DR, etc. The world is a richer place for their having passed thru and that's enough for me!

  • @trikey52 with respect to ranking these great players, well said.

  • @trikey52 well said! finally, somebody on youtube with some sense!

  • Ain't a whole lot of point rating players against each other. Either they spoke to you, or they didn't. Enjoy, or don't. Was Buster a great player? Do you have to ask?

  • he wasn't mic-ed well. sounds muddy, but he is actually extremely precise.

  • wow!

  • saw have live...UNREAL..had NO idea he had died!!!!!

As far as pure "fingerstyle"..he had few peers!

Loved Roy Clark..but not even in the same league

  • theres just somethin bout buster. love him

  • I'll vote for Roy Clark but that was ok.

  • Met him at CAAS, bought his music bought his video lessons, best money i ever spent. Wish I had known him better. Nicer guy never made. As for your comments, well the only player I know who coulld play as articulate and fast is Richard Smith.Another great you wouldn't appreciate. He had more talent in his fingernail clippings than you'll ever even be able to comprehend. He was Chet ,Merle, and Jerry Reed all rolled into one, and I for one will miss him.

  • I'll say he was #2, to Jerry being #1. Buster had more Chet in him than Jerry, he could do that pretty / smooth stuff like Chet at will. Buster's only problem was he needed a better manager.. if this guy had a good manager, he would've been huge. Damn why didnt someone save him from himself... what a talent, lost forever. Dammit.

  • I'd like to add - Buster may have been better than Jerry, because Buster could do this stuff on a STEEL string acoustic, where Jerry was a nylon string man. Jerry could tear up steel strings too, but Buster did it all the time.

  • Point well taken, and having met all 3( Chet ,Jerry,Buster, but not at the same time hehe) I'd be very hard pressed to name only one as my top fav of all time. Have you heard his favorite student play?? He may just be a sober reincarnation of all 3,,Young man definetly has talent to spare.

  • @ih8thishit I think he surpassed Jerry. Part of the reason he was never that famous also is just that this genre of music fell out of favor with the public.

  • Awesome.

    RIP Buster B. Jones

  • "I missed a note, if you can tell me which one, I'll buy you dinner!" XD

    Nice job, man. Incredible playing.

  • that a boy pakis!!! good lookin out for the vidss from the festival
