He says the whole relationship thing distracts people from the actual music. When people know that the band member's are in a relationship of sorts they're too busy wondering what's going on with them, instead of thinking about and listening to the actual music. It also adds to the whole childish sort of feel they're going for.

i love this cover! the white stripes is an amazing band, man... the original´s the best, of course - nothing can compare to mr. dylan´s geniality, but the white stripes did a great great job. long live white stripes!
