  • I was wondering if you would make a video detailing how to make a good 808 baselines for dirty south hip hop styles.. like I can do fine up until the bassline then I get frustrated. Like a method for making the bassline note wise like how to connect it to the melody....or if you have a video already could you link me to it ?

  • Amazing tutorial! Thanks! Can you do a tut on circle of fifths?

  • awesome! thank you very much!

  • @ZoMasterlabZo you sing your vocals and save on fl studio?

  • anyone know if say i type in a song (or melody) into FL Keys in the key of C if there is a way to have it replay it in the keys od A,D and E to compare which way sounds the most pleasing to the ear. I can play everything pretty good on keyboard in C scale but my fingers get a little tongue-tied trying to switch up and play them in all the other keys without hours of practicing it. thanks!

  • nice approach, learn something new and useful again:p

  • @10:43 ... Was that an iPhone ... with the basic ring tone that comes with the it lmfao ... i think it was lol ... sounds kinda like a car horn lol

  • Thanks you're awesome !! I signed up on warbeats last year then had to drop out of sight & learn to play keyboard & study music theory and chords w/Piano4all. Now I'm back with a vengeance & got a couple of my own songs to port into FL Studio 10 soon. Afraid I'm a little old to be a rap star but I gotta guy that's pretty good 4 that...he's even got a pro mic & popper stopper LOL warbeatkev

  • I don't think I've ever seen any of your tutorials maybe I should watch them huh. I usually make music of ear and don't really know much music theory anyways good tutorial.

  • being in band in highschool is FINALLY paying off, I understand most of what he's talking about!

  • Thanks so much for doing this out of pure passion. It's great that you're making this available for everyone. Can't thank you enough!

  • Ace ace ace. You've helped me so much with this and many other tut's you've made for fellow producers/ musicians. Big love, and i look forward to becoming a member of war beats. :)

  • Hi - Your videos are great. The "chord progressions" video seems to be unavailable - both here and in your Warbeats page. Possible to relink? Thanks much.

    Jairam

  • thanks so much for this, it's not about how to use fl but how to understood and produce music , simplified explanation really EASYandHELPFUL

  • I always look forward to your tutorials, really helps me to keep going as I often times get frustrated due to a lack of any form of musical training but these videos are hugely helpful in my quest to brilliance.

  • You make the best FL and music making tutorials around. Thank you Sir!

  • i was on your website watching the music theory tutorials which are great by the way and wanted to let you know that the chord progression video doesn't work. hopefully its sorted soon bcos i need to watch it. My regrads

  • hey guys peep my page for some hardcore goonstrumentals ya? i sub back =]

  • Thanks again NFX, great tutorial!!

  • I've got a couple questions. How do you zoom in/out so effortlessly? I find zooming in/out to the right zooms is tricky ahah. Second, how could I make an Acapella of something I already have, if there's some background sounds?

  • 6666 views

  • i liked this before i even watched it knew it would be good! thanks nfx! Yet Again!

  • Hey I'm just curious, how old are you?

And I really appreciate what you do man! I know it's not easy putting the time into recording these videos, putting accurate information in, and editing & uploading --all for free! So thanks! (:

  • Kate Nash - Foundations, use those exact chords haha

  • You mentioned "my timing was off" while playing the melody line in the tutorial. So that seems to imply you thought there was a better (or worse) place rhythmically to place the little melody bit. Since I really enjoy your tutorials I was hoping you might expand on that in a future video. Thanks again, I'm off to warbeats to hunt down some more goodies.

  • Thumbs up. This is a BIG public service for ho's work with production. RESPECT !!

  • in my opinion u are an expert nice video

  • These tutorials are so simply put and well-explained. Big ups to Nelson!

  • Your music theory tutorials have really been a huge help for me. I've always had a natural ear for music but have needed a little help with learning the actual music theory side of things.

  • Hi, I love your tutorials. I'm a 14 year old producer from the UK and have been watching all of your tutorials. You've helped me progress in my music theory so much, thank you. Could you please do an indepth guide to drum pattern making? I want to become like Ramadanman and Icicle, who really focus on their drums.

    Cheers :)

  • @mopaher hopefully just a missclick

  • THIS IS MAD LONG

  • @IbrahimT13 how can you find 29 minutes long?

  • @MrMegaHans Agreed. People with short attention spans, this is worth it!

  • glad to see a new video thanks nfx

  • Why can sombody dislike dis video, its a great tutorial dat can help alot of producer out there.

  • @mopaher I think it's because even if he explain that much, they just don't get it. Some people can and other just can't apparently

  • You should make a video showing your face for once ?

  • I'm not really sure if what you are saying about the IV and V being more tense, especially since the IV and V chords are major and not as tense as minor chords or suspended chords.

  • @Chainsaw20x7 The notes are more "tense" due to the fact that they are farther from the root and beg to be resolved back to the root. I'm using the IV and V NOTES (intervals) as tension NOTES in the context of making a musical phrase, other than describing the progression for the backing track, I'm not talking about chords as the focus of this tutorial.

  • @nfxbeats Distance from the root doesn't really relate to 'tension' in the way you've suggested here. That implies that virtually every note which is not C wants to resolve to the C when the C chord comes back, which is misleading. Resolution can be to any component of the C chord. For instance, in the 2nd F chord if an F was played, it would resolve to the G, the E, or the C when the C chord is played. Starting/stopping phrases on the 'root' always = resolution, but not exclusively.

  • @Myuzishin I believe I said numerous times in the video that these are guidelines and not rules. Even chord progressions tend to want to resolve back to the I chord. It's a common thing.

  • @nfxbeats You did, and if I'd had more characters I would have stated that I understand that, as well as what the 'target' audience is. Wasn't tryin to be a dikk, just meant to suggest that tension and resolution, while complimentary to the root, are not dependent on it (if they were, key changes would be much more difficult). You do good tuts, not tryin to get on yer case. But from a songwriting perspective, there's Green Day and there's Tokyo Jihen. Resolution to the I is common, but limiting.

  • @nfxbeats @ 12:00 you say that the furthest you can get from the "c" notes is F & G , I believe it is rather Fsharp or Gflat. Correct me if im wrong. ;)

  • @moidamir F & G are the furthest away in the scale.

  • @moidamir F# and Gb are not in the CMaj scale. I was referring to all the notes within that scale only.

  • @nfxbeats You know later on yesterday i was thinking about this comment and i was saying to my self "I think he was talking about the scale" lol. Your lessons are great dude! Im not that much into producing, i mainly play guitar, but your lessons help me with composition! And give a greater insight in the world that is music. Thanks for taking the time to spread knowledge!

  • @moidamir You're watching a 29 minute video and picking on one half a second freaking phrase that's not even relevant to the tutorial? Come on...

  • Are most pop house songs made in C Major and only using two notes as the chord?

That's what some people are saying.

  • @eduardo13rocha

I'm not sure what you mean by "two notes as the chord." Do you mean using chords that just have 2 notes, because the only commonly used chord with only 2 notes is the power chord, and that is primarily used in rock and metal and not pop house songs.

  • @eduardo13rocha

    Aren't those called harmonic intervals?

  • What sting plugin are you using?

  • good tutorial! this sounds like something i would hear in chuck e cheese LOL :D

  • nfx is the reason why i can produce anything .. i respect him more than any other producer that give tutorials on you tube
