I think the piano-flute balance is completely OK on this one. Both piano and flute parts are equally important. Tango seems to have elements of both sublime beauty and dark tragedy so this has to be brought out somehow. Would be a great piece to play at a murder scene, a stabbing, say. Imagine the close-up of the blood slowly trickling into the cobble stones, mixed with the tears of the surviving lover.

wouldn t it be better if the first theme was played in the low octave just with a change of dynamics the second time?

because i think the high octave looses the mystery and nostalgy of the theme...and then go to the high octave for the peak of the piece..

just an opinion..
