CCT are linked to army units, but usually TACP and JTAC are linked to those units. CCT are linked to those and other muti-national units. CCT missions are those that are completed, but even though they are completed, and succeeded, aren't talked about untiled cleared to. With that being said all military units are equally important.

@TheJaaysog Joint Terminal Attack Controller. They're the general name for forward-position close air support directors. Same thing as CCT's & TACP's but on a more generalized, usually non-special operations scale.

If you should know... combat controllers are assigned to an army unit... also the 75th ranger bn.... they will wear the army uniform 95% of the time

@dawp25 Not entirely accurate. Controllers are assigned to Special Tactics Units. When working overseas they are assigned to other units within SOCOM i.e. SEALs, Rangers, Army SF, Marine Recon...etc

The air force has a habit of giving it's people who are, let's say attached to units from our sister service. The same uniforms they wear so they wont stick up, so there really isn't a way to tell if they are or are not cct's unless you know them personally...

@Kinjaffa Tier 2 and above operators have different standards. Because CCT will be on the ground dealing with the more human element instead of geography, the tribal leaders will look at a man with a beard as superior to a man without a beard.

The guy who said it was because of respect from tribal leaders may be correct but I've always been told that it was because enemy soldiers associate clean shaven with American soldiers, so beards make it easier to blend in when doing low-key ops. Now, of course, the enemy associates beards with SF operators so they can be somewhat problematic in certain situations.

you start CCT in basic... trained a little harder physically its a four year process i believe.. im still trying to get in but so far i know we are supposed to be physically fit before we even go to basic

@SaiVihtooMyint to get a CCT contract you have to pass the PAST test before you even leave for basic which I'm sure you can find the requirements online but it involves swimming, running, pushups, pullups, and flutter kicks.  Then after basic you go straight to CCT training I'm guessing.

keep in mind, there are about 11 men out of 150 or so per class that will graduate from CCT selection. out of the class my father graduated from, the only ones to survive where the ones that did their minimum tour and left, all of the 8 others died in combat.
