  • I was just waiting for the end and hoping he would say, "And I'm a Mormon."

  • @insidiousvertigo Lol!! xD

  • Okay...what is forgiveness then? I want to believe those are the things that are not forgiveness but I'm confused as to what forgiveness is then. I can't tell if this is a good preacher or not....

  • @scenepunk09 This is a clip about what forgiveness is NOT - you need to find his sermon on what forgiveness IS - it's very thorough

  • @s0cializa It is just the question I have in mind after watching this video calm down...

  • @scenepunk09 He's very good and i don't usually like preachers

  • This guy is a false profit people.

  • @mmac312 why?

  • @mmac312

If you read your Bible more, I'm sure you'd be able to spell "prophet" correctly.

  • I will agree that he does come across as biased against his own gender, though this is one video that I agree thoroughly w/ from him.

  • @internetfan2005 He's hard on guys (which I think is a good thing, I being a guy), but for good reason. He knows how stupid and childish guys can be and he doesn't want to see that.

  • who is he to tell what god wants. he does not talk to god. who is he to tell someone to follow someone else. just because your husband does not believe in god does not mean your wife will not love you or follow you. this dude is full of shit who does not know what god wants.

  • Spot on - most of this is great work Mark.

  • 2:50 - 4:52. I personally have proven on multiple occasions; how easy it can be to forget the sinful event against Myself, by someone else, through the decision to forgive that person.

Admittedly; this has definitely not always been possible. Sometimes trust needs to be rebuilt over a period of time.

  • 0:51 -1:52. In the case of a carnal husband working in the flesh; a Christian wife must "give up Her Christian rights" to win Him over possibly?

Easier said than done. However, I believe it is scripturally incorrect for a wife to "take over Headship" - unless the situation has diminished to a state of the 2 married parties living in Separation.

  • I would have thought that most of this is probably common sense, but point 8 (neglecting justice) makes me think though, I disagree. Turn the other cheek, do not resist a violent man? What Mark says about Romans 13 is true, "For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good." However, there is a higher law, a most excellent way, which I believe Jesus talks about in the sermon on the mount.

  • forgiving is granting pardon for or remission of an offense or debt.. it is a presumptuous as it assumes the offense or debt.. further to that, how is anyone in a position to judge forgiving an act that violates a known moral rule (i.e. "sin").. this particular christian tenant is faulty, misleading and in many ways detrimental to civil discourse.

  • Does Jesus not say that you may forgive someone 77 times.

  • @deepshizzle1 yes even when God forgives you, it does not exempt you from consequences. I mean if you murder someone, God can forgive you but you are still probably going to spend the rest of your life in prison.

  • Only God can help you to REALLY love the people who have hurt you most. So glad he found me.

  • ok so if ive done something bad years ago that could get me in trouble does it mean go tell on myself or just let god forgive me and move on?

  • As you can see in this translation, there is no mention of actually forgetting or remembering, only a decision not to "hold their sins against them". With this in mind, a better rendering of the KJV would be "their sins and their iniquities will I remember (against them) no more". They ARE remembered but, not to the detriment of the sinner.

  • @matthewmcclellan100 which is what he said...

  • “Oh, God, if this is Christianity, I can’t stand it. I can’t live with my past sins.” All of a sudden, God reminded me of Jeremiah 31:34 and Isaiah 43:25. He seemingly said, “Son, I don’t remember your sins; when are you going to stop remembering them?”

Thank God, on that eventful day, I left my sins in His hands. If He could forget them, in my weakness I would reckon upon His power to help me forget them.

  • Google: GodWhoForgivesandForgets

  • In spite of His omniscience, in spite of the fact that He is always there, I say to you that there are at least four instances where God says, “I will remember their sin no more”! God is actually saying it is possible for Him to “forget.”

    “…and will not remember thy sins.”—Isa. 43:25.

“I will remember their sin no more.”—Jer. 31:34.

“Their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”—Heb. 8:12

  • @bondjunior003 but God knows everything, if he truly forgot as in had no idea of it's occurence, then there would be no need for a judgement day.

  • Heard this sermon after a few months of going to MH.

I saw so much truth in this that it brought me to Jesus and became a Christian a week later.

  • Didn't the father of the lost son entrusted him once he showed that he repented? I'm confident enough to trust someone who repents, but I won't if someone asks for forgiveness yet does not repent. Hm.

  • 08:57 -V for victory!!

  • Wow very interesting! The most random thought :04 on the video picture this Mark Driscoll as the Joker? lol You see it? Ha ha!!

  • Great, except #4 (don't wait to forgive until someone apologizes). There is nowhere in the Bible that God, the apostles, or the Church forgave someone who was continuing in their sin, and no teaching that says that we should forgive sinning people.

Jesus instructed in Luke 6:27-28 - "But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you." But he didn't tell us to forgive them. There is a better way (Rom 12:17-21).

  • @in2freedom Have you stopped sinning?

  • @cbuggy Your question has a "depends what you mean" to it. If you mean, have I attained sinless perfection and so I no longer sin, the answer is no. None of us attain this in our earthly lifetime.

But, if you mean, when I find that I have sinned, do I repent of the sin and stop doing it, the answer is yes.

My point was that we are not taught to forgive people who are continuing to do a specific sin without repentance. It is when people repent that we forgive, just as God has done with us.

  • @in2freedom I think you are forgetting one of the most incredible statements (at least, in my humble opinion) Jesus ever made. When they were crucifying Him, He said "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they are doing." You could argue this scenario is different since it was targeted for the lost, but I see no reason for the point not to stand, but nonetheless I think the example was set nicely, but keep in mind, church discipline and forgiveness are two very different scenarios.

  • @apassionateplayer Actually, this is a very common misunderstanding. Take another look at the wording of what you quoted. Jesus did not say, "Father, I forgive them..." he said, "Father, forgive them..." In other words, Jesus was not granting forgiveness, but was asking the Father to forgive them. Acts 2 shows the Father answering Jesus' prayer. When those people repented, the Father forgave them, just as Jesus asked. Jesus did tell us to pray for our enemies, the very thing he was doing here.

  • @in2freedom I understand your point, but everything in the scriptures seems to lead against it. We have been forgiven a debt larger than anything anyone could ever accumulate towards us, so what right do we have to ever withhold our forgiveness? (Matthew 18:21-35 as reference) Jesus can withhold his forgiveness because he is not in debt. We are, so we have no right to withhold our forgiveness at any time. God can withhold forgiveness because He is God, and we are not.

  • @apassionateplayer Issue: I could explain more by email, so let me know if you would like to hear more. For now I will just say that God does not forgive us until we repent, Jesus taught us to confront someone's sin and even take it to the church if they don't repent, and 5 of the 7 letters in Rev 2-3 required the churches to repent "or else" Jesus would continue holding their sin against them. None of these show forgiveness before repentance, but were given warnings until repentance came.

  • @in2freedom As I said before... we are not God. We are forgiven a great debt... How can we hold one for any amount of time at all? God/Jesus never had debts to begin with, so your point is invalid. God has the right to hold someone to a debt, and as is clearly stated so often by Jesus Himself, we do not. If you think you can use scripture to prove that we have a right to withhold forgiveness at any time (until they stop sinning, for example), then feel free to send me a message.

  • This is fantastic. I love it explodes the myths of what forgiveness is and is not, for the Christian.

    Thank you for posting.

  • How am I supposed to be saved if I screw up then? How can Christ work in my heart if all I do is sin? I cried out to Christ, but I'm just stuck in life.

  • @PopcornMawn Grace. Christ died so we don't have to suffer what you feel like you're being stuck in. We all sin. I sin to this very day. What needs to happen is repentance. Once you legitimately call upon the name of Jesus into your heart, he can change you completely. Just as he changed me. No amount of sin is too much for Christ to clean

  • Hey its okay- we all screw up- do you have kids? Its like you love your kids no matter what- you want them to do what is good because that is what is best for them- but do you love them any less when they've screwed up? Read the story about the prodigal son. Luke 15: 11-32. Its just like that- we don't deserve to be forgiven but God loves us anyway. We try to live the life that Christ wants us to live but there is forgiveness when we fail and a want for us to return to Him. Hang in there!

  • Forgiveness- With partial or full cognizance of the damage done, and with a rational mind, choosing not to hold it against the sinner by recognizing that: 1. we are needy for God's empowering grace not to continue to hold that sin against our antagonist, and 2. we are needy for God's cleansing mercy because we are guilty of a much greater debt that our Lord chooses not to hold against us. Therefore, humility and thankfulness are required for forgiveness can be lasting and effective.

  • then what IS forgiveness?

  • Yeah, misogyny! Woo! Women help men, men are the leaders! LOL jk this is disgusting.

  • @Haeronthegreat men are supposed to be the leaders, but more often than not they screw up. WIthout Jesus all of us are kind of disgusting, sadly

  • Very good message. God bless!

  • eye opener

  • this is a church for women isnt it, like oprah, tyra and dr phil are shows for women. ALL the examples are targeted toward men. ive seen none about women. in fact ive seen no vids of this false prophet chastising women.

obviously if he did that hed loose all the women and if there are no women the men would leave too. its like a club on friday night

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA You obviously know nothing about Mars Hill.

Their main target is young adult males. If anything, they are more often accused of being too focused on men.

  • @aiyakaiya

you obviously know nothing about the meaning behind words.

i couldnt care less who the target is. what i mean is (based off all the videos ive seen of this fool) he always uses men in bad examples, he always puts men down, etc (you should see the vid 'Mark Driscoll's Rebuke To Abusive Men') yet he has nothing less than favorable to say about women. makes you wanna think that women are perfect....or at least it makes idiots wanna think that

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA have you seen the woman and Marrage sermon? He does Rebuke women, but his tone is harsher with the men. Not to mention the fact he is a man and therfore it would a bit innpropreate for him to talk to other women like he does the men... also to call him a false prophet, what has he ever said that was not either right out of Scripture or a Biblical Principal. Sounds like the Holy Spirt Convicted you, so instead of working on your self, you attack him. Thats called Pride.

  • @aumanfor3

'Not to mention the fact he is a man and therfore it would a bit innpropreate for him to talk to other women like he does the men'

~ why is that, are men and women not equal? so why not speak to them as equals?

'what has he ever said that was not either right out of Scripture or a Biblical Principal'

~ 0:55 its lead, not 'lovingly' lead, as there are (or should be) some times when the leading has nothing to do with love. 0:59 shes still supposed 2 follow him, just not do what he does

  • @aumanfor3

    (cont)

i can point out many others (especially in other vids), id like to know what bible hes using

'Sounds like the Holy Spirt Convicted you, so instead of...'

~ you can think that if you want, sounds to me like he says what you like to hear (or can use to your advantage) so you follow him. but when some one (who actually knows the bible) exposes him, all of a sudden....'Thats called Pride.' well fine call it what you want

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA All i have to say is that everyone who reads this should go look at all the other comments that TENNSUMITSUMA has written on other videos, and you can tell me if he has the rep. to call anyone out spiritually. You will know a tree by its fruit. Thats all.

  • @aumanfor3

1 ok go ahead & read it

2 its sad that u had no defense 2 what i said, so instead of sticking with the subject you had to go find something else unrelated to bring up to try and shut me down

3 i can guarantee, that if i waste time scanning the net ill find stuff that u have written thats less than favorable

4 if im so bad yet i can use the bible to point out the inconsistencies of you 'more godly' people, what does that say about you all

the smartest ones make the dumbest mistakes

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA your missing the point bro. Were all sinners, but if you call your self a Christian, and you want you opinion to hold some weight on a Christian issue (you obviously do yor you wouldn't comment) than you gotta live ytour whole life fr God. Not pretending you know whats up in one video. ya feel me?

  • @aumanfor3

i am from jamaica, and unlike the watered down 'stuff' (ill say) of american christian society, jamiacan christian society is very militant with its teaching. (we have bible drills that would put any US armed force drill Sargent to absolute shame). i myself come from a grand father that could sit in the center of a fully loaded colosseum with all the best atheists on the planet (including the king of them: dawkins) get fired at by all at once and be able to fire back and show....

  • @aumanfor3

    (cont)

them out as the imbeciles they are, and sent them running scared for life. so trust me when i say this: im not pretending i know anything.

thats one of the many good things about being a child of god (not christian since everyone in the US today is 'christian'), all you need to do is see some one and your spirit can instantly tell you whats up with that person. no speaking needed.

    im done here, good bye

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA

If you`d like to hear a more balanced sermon regarding the chastening of both men and women, I would suggest you check out the Peasent Princess Series. As far as I know, Mark Driscol is harder on the men sometimes, simply because he is a man, and therefore feels more qualified to have an opinion. It would be dangerous for him to use women as examples to the same extent if only because he would be labled a misogynistic at the drop of a hat.

  • @ScarletFlames77

' It would be dangerous for him to use women as examples to the same extent if only because he would be labled a misogynistic at the drop of a hat.'

~maybe in the secular world, which shouldnt matter. in the church it shouldnt be like that. if it is it sounds like the women have some sort of pride/ego issue. if you stomp out the pride/ego issues with the men in the church and not the women, i dont think i need to tell anyone what kind of apocalypse that will be

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA it's interesting b/c I was reading somewhere else that someone said he was too hard on the women in another message that he wrote. Go figure. Not attacking just sharing news.

  • @internetfan2005

i highly doubt hes doing what he does here to them

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA I don't keep up w/ this guy on a regular basis, so I don't know if he is or not. Go figure.

  • YES! That is exactly right!

  • Amazing

  • Truth.
