  • mui foda...

  • Wow!!! I just discovered them, and now I am HOOKED!!!

  • who knew this song had lyrics? and theyre so good too...

  • Everytime, this song will cross my soul...

  • lol, wtf is this doing in an Apocalyptica playlist?? Granted, it does not detract from the mood, but it's kind of weirding me out hear a piano after hearing nothing but cello and drums for a good half hour :P

  • Love the piano on this one

  • Absolutely adored these guys. Heard this record thousands over thousands of times.

  • 6 people can't be adored.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG¡¡¡¡¡ FINGRE UP FOR THIS GREATEST BAND

  • 6 IDIOT ARE STUPID OF YOUR MIND :-P

  • Awesome song!

  • I wish I have seen the cranes and the cure. . .I have seen Depeche Mode 3 times. . .I am old too. . .35. . .

  • @DJSTOV No! 35 can't be old! I'm going to turn 35 tomorrow! Cranes would be unbelievably awesome to see in person, though. The Cure & Depeche Mode definitely were.

  • it calls on me!!

  • I was there back in 89 tour in Phx AZ i was 17 first concert The best 2 great bands THE CURE will always be there for ME

  • Were they ever signed to 4AD? They seem like a 4AD band

  • back in 90 i heard 12 seconds of this song [in the chart]and i was inlove

  • earth-moving. cranes, please tour the U.S. again. it's been too long.

  • I really love this, the feel has a a dark creepy edge to it. I did read the lyrics but am I the only one who doesn't understand what she's saying. Seriously am I the only one. I tried to follow her vocals with the lyrics but just couldn't follow her. Still love it though!

  • La musique est vraiment très bonne mais la voix de la chanteuse insupportable ! Quel gâchis !

  • I always wondered what Robert Smiths old lady looked like. (hehe)

  • My favorite song of cranes, love it

  • @falendor11 my favs are the moon city(demo version) and danse des erinnyes f-ing awsome!!!

  • quite informative.....acecrane.com

  • very dangerous song, especially if you are at the verge of a nervous breakdown...

  • This song is beautiful, but also so very sad. I don't know what it's about but I understand what she's saying idk about people and life mostly.

  • "...I want to make you wonder

I want to make it start

And oh when it fills with wonder

I won't want to break it apart

And oh when the sky falls on me

    And when it's another day

I'll want to make you want me

    In always another way...

  • God i love this song. one my favorites of theirs.

  • Gorgeous, thanks for posting. I remember going to a signing by Cranes in Glasgow Tower Records shop and about 7 people turned up, which was so frustrating for the band, but all the people at the signing got on the guestlist to their concert that night (September 1991) which was nice... :-) Fantastic band, and her unique voice is so mesmerising.

  • when did this first come out?

  • I cant wait to see them in dublin on saturday i hope they play adoration!

  • @insectstorm0 FUCK! I had no idea they were playing. Top depression!

  • I'm just so happy to see Cranes again.Friday , 17th of April in Dublin .I have all their albums, love them so much.Ah...Regards to all Cranes fans !

  • I adore , absolutely love Cranes. I will see them live in Dublin next week ( 17th of April). Looks like they're going to play only 2 concerts this year : London and Dublin. This is one of my very favourite , beloved groups. Beauty and emotions in their music, her voice , atmosphere..Pure bliss.

  • They are great!!!!!!!!

  • wonderful song, great paintings. Allison we share the same taste both in music & art. We' ll be an adorable couple!!! Vagos, Athens, Greece 22-11-1975

  • buenísima

  • The main image I got in my mind from their music was of an open field, with huge gloomy thunder clouds brooding overhead with occasional flashes of lightening, and a lost little girl crying in the wind.

  • It sounds very similar to earlier records: "Faith" and "Seventeen Seconds", by The Cure. Interesting band...

  • holy moly I forgot about them for 10 years,,,when you start traveling and leave your life behind..you forget..but thank god something triggered my mind...and here I can enjoy them once again, thank you jade4u

  • Still a great song with a great video, could watch it again and again.

    5/5*

  • my god this song is musical bliss! 2nd only to starblood *in adoration*

  • i concur

though i think this is my favorite cranes song ever

  • Thanks for the great post Jade. Only had to wait like a life time to see the video to the most important song in my life....but worth the wait.

  • Cranes are def one of the interesting bands of the past 30 years. Allison Shaw's vocals, in conjunction with excellent instrumentals, have created a sound and "spirit" that can not be re-created. I can not count how many times I have both disturbed and interested friends and loved ones with the music created by these unique artists...LONG LIVE CRANES!!!

    BY far the best!!!!

  • creepy, but great.

  • Really? I'm sure they think you're a prince, a gentleman and a scholar between them.

  • Saw them with the Cure back in '89. 20 years ago,Jesus, I am old.

  • @imaginaryboy238 I just told my wife I seen them forever ago at the Wish tour..Classic band...

  • @imaginaryboy238 I saw them in 91 I think as support to the Cure and they stole the show, they were great!

  • @imaginaryboy238 Cranes opened for The Cure in 1992 for the Wish tour, not 89. Pixies and Love and Rockets were the opening bands in 89 for The Cure for their Disintegration tour. = )

  • @jflores73 In L.A. at Dodger Stadium Cranes opened the show, followed by: The Pixies, Love and Rockets, and ultimately The Cure. It was the one and only time I've seen them play, I assure you they were there.

  • @3kisses4me No, you're confusing Cranes with Shelleyan Orphan. I was at the Dodger Statdium show as well and the opening acts were Shelleyan Orphan followed by Pixies then Love & Rockets. Google it. Cranes opened up for both Wish shows in L.A. in 1992 at Rosebowl and Longbeach Arena. Dinosaur Jr was the first opening band at the Rosebowl followed by Cranes. Cheers!

  • @imaginaryboy238 ...oh and also Shelleyan Orphan.

  • @jflores73 Woops! I just replied under my wifes account name! Yeah, it was the Prayer Tour in 1989. I do see they also toured with them on the Wish tour though. It's good that they are still together after all these years.

  • @imaginaryboy238 me too!! in Madrid, 30th June 1989-- incredible opening band, and then The Cure's Disintegration tour-- magic made real

  • @alexcurd Ahh, finally after a year; legitimacy. And yes, Magic is appropriate.

  • @alexcurd I am sorry mate, that is not true. Cranes opened for The Cure in 1992, on Wish Tour. In 1989 it was Shelleyan Orphan.

  • @imaginaryboy238 You didn't. They played with The Cure in 1992, on Wish Tour.

But maybe you're old, yes ;-)

  • @imaginaryboy238 no you are 40 years young

  • @imaginaryboy238 it was '92,but you have been told that.....

  • @imaginaryboy238

Me too, Seattle. Yeah, we're old.

  • @imaginaryboy238 22 years ago. You're even older.

  • Ethereal beauty

  • thanks for posting this! i like it. :)

  • Yeah, I just found them five minutes ago too haha. Wasn't all that keen on 'Beautiful Friend' but I'm really liking this.... can't really make out the lyrics, but whatever she's singing must be pretty awesome! What album should I start with? Well, more to the point, do they even sell Cranes? I've never seen a record of theirs in stores- mainstream or indie. Cheers

  • You can get a lot of their stuff on itunes this album was called wings of joy one of their first.

  • As a complete outsider, let me just say that I just discovered this band about five minutes ago, and am blown away. I will definitely buy their music. However, IMO her voice is lacking in note choice, rather than texture, where it works quite well. Sometimes the pitch of her voice is weak. Insanely soulful nevertheless. Love it.

  • I think she has a baby's voice, not an angelic voice.

  • You are totally entitled to think that....for me she's got nor an angelic voice, nor a baby's voice! Her voice is fragile and fits perfectly in the music they made..(or still do make???)

  • Piss off back to music school then and let those of us who are not obsessed with soulless anodyne technical perfection enjoy it.

  • I love cranes and Alison has a angelic voice..It's just sometimes hard to understand. It's very dreamy..

  • Oyes. Kraalomega just annihilated that one guy via text. An epic win. I don't quite see what the last few sentences did - but they added to the epic factor.

But yeah, Cranes ftw. Am I the only one who thinks the lead singer is beautiful as hell?

  • Oh My God, this is a Masterpiece, Thanks Cranes.

  • What the fuck are you talking about? Bergen Bergen Allswitch? Whats wrong with pink floyd and having a room? You must live in some kind of dome. Go fuck yourself guy.

  • Where do you think this sort of behaviour will lead? I mean: would you physically attack a poet on a street corner? You dont want to go down this path Larry; it leads to the dark heart of the human condition, Bergen-Belsen, Auswitch. Youve got to understand, you can change.

  • Your urge to bully and rage against peoples freedom of expression, the abusive language (I wouldnt use the R word again, Larry, honestly that does no one any favours) is just the little boy in you wanting attention.

  • "definers of a musical sub era that shimmered beneath the conscious of the 80s."

Why are you trying so fucking hard? noone gives a shit about your music critic tirade, noone is impressed. And if you seriously reject dylan on principle, i feel all the more worse for you.

  • OK.

Firstly, all I was doing was musing (lyrically, perhaps) about a The Cranes, their sound and how it defined a period of years in my life.

Secondly, there is no tirade and no critic, as clearly I've stated my opinion as being in favour for, not against.

Thirdly, do you think Mr Dylan goes around insulting strangers because they wish to express their positive opinions on public forums ?

Sorry, who's trying too hard ?

  • Sorry, your an idiot. This could go on forever but you won't get it. How does something shimmer beneath an era, can you explain this to me? it sounds like pretentious bullshit a teenager would say in a desperate bid for smart points. It doesen't really say anything, its just empty words, from an empty skull.

  • At first I wanted to retaliate against your tirade, but the more I read the more I could see that this was really just a cry for help. And all the signs are there. Sitting in your room with your Pink Floyd Shirt, listening to Dillon and playing such wonderful tunes. I thought my lack of God, his hearts in the right place, but hes angry (probably with his father) but sometimes it hard to live up to the high standards of ones heroes.

  • . I want to help you Larry (sorry I dont know your real name, so Larry will have to do) I want to help you Larry. Because youre right Larry, it will go on forever, because Im here for you. And I mean it Larry, I really mean it. I am not the sort of man to leave a fellow pilgrim groping in the dark

  • Who is Dillon? Matt Dillon? You mean Bob Dylan I assume.

  • they're more in the realm of "severed heads"; a step beyond goth (if such a thing exists ?) definers of a musical sub era that shimmered beneath the conscious of the 80's. I can feel it better than I can describe it. It's a slice of my subconscious, not real at all...

  • wow, you reek of pretention and shit

  • coming from a Dylan fan boy, the words kettle and black leaps to mind in no particular order. I was also unaware that pretension has a smell. But from a man who can smell my shit all the way from the U.S.A. surely nothing is impossible. I bow to your incredible charm and obvious wit.

  • likewise, I bow to yours, fellow fuckwit.

  • amazing

  • I was addicted to Loved..and I loved Population 4 as well. I do like all of them though.

  • excellent sOng!!

  • excellent sOng!!

  • beautiful song for the inevitable exit.

  • In Hollywood,California,on El Centro Avenue

    (near Sunset & Vine) there's a nightclub

    called "Crane's". Hmmm...what an interesting

    gig THAT would be!

  • Love this song and would like to buy a Cranes album. Can anyone suggest a good one to get me into them?

  • Forever is my fave. Then Wings of Joy.

  • Loved and Forever are by far the best, and Future Songs will quickly grow on you minus a couple songs. But they're all amazing. If you want a bit of everything, get the EP album.

  • I would recommend Wings of Joy. That was my first album by them, but I had to buy it as an import, because back then they weren't readily available in Texas.

I did get a momement to meet them in person in a record store where they were making an appearance. I got there late when it wasn't so busy. They signed a poster and photo I still have.

I even got to ask a question of them, "How would you describe your music to yourselves?"

They answered, "Anything but Goth," and laughed.

  • "Loved" is their peak for me.

I remember someone in a music magazine in the 90's described them as "a sort of goth Sundays for people who like David Lynch".

Now, I love Lynch (obviously!) and I also really love the Sundays, but goth? No. Just... no. They are so much more than that.

  • you underestimate early goth music, to me this sounds very goth. it has the the excessive reverb, the industrial/tribal style drums and prefers a melodic guitarline over a rythmic guitarline. i wouldn't say it's a textbook example but their early work is definitively goth

  • good synopsis of early goth

  • :S?

  • I agree with Thescarydutchman, There were seriously contemplative, internalized, and truly creative folks who simply had an affection or romanticism for darker images, elements and sounds, which better exemplify the term "goth". In the end, it was just a label given to us/them without consent, one which has since been stamped on anything dressed in black that says "boo'. Everyone seeks to define themselves, or even feel like a part of something bigger, but no one really LIKES to be labeled.

  • her voice its beautiful!!!

  • I can't find the Water Song. Has anyone seen it on youtube?

  • What an amazing band!

  • They've always got these beautiful videos. :]

  • I FREAKIN WORSHIP THIS BAND!!! but they are still #2 on my list

  • who's no. 1?

  • shoegaze 4ever!

  • Nothing really to do with shoegazing except the same era.

They had/have no real contemporaries and antecedents/successors.

  • I'm loving all this stuff from Wings of Joy. Has to be one of my favorite albums ever. I like Loved and Forever a lot (almost as much), and think Future Songs doesn't get enough credit. But that first album was a masterpiece! Thanks for this.

  • You mean from Wings of Joy? Or Self-Non Self?

  • Ahhh... Of course. You're right. I meant the second album. SNS was a good album, but WoJ was just out-of-this-world great.

  • Yeah, that's when I caught up with them too, WoJ. Just a fantastic album.

  • Wow!...just discovered them, quite unique!!!

  • This is from one of the best cds I own.

  • Where can I download songs by Crane? I tried limewire, frostwire, and bearshare...

  • Try Ares And eMule

  • O_o Okie, thankies!

  • also try downloading torrents

  • Thanks, too ^^

  • Soulseek, if you like listening to it; its on soulseek. :)

  • emusic has their new material, iTunes has their old material

  • You know. People who appreciate this song, and the Cranes in general? Just 'get' art. I had Mark Francombe tell me once (back during Loved tour) that it was really easy stuff to play. And much of it is. But the tone and the mood that it sets? Absolute and utter genius. Then Allisons vocals?

    This is art ...

  • Geez! I wish she'd go ahead and post her lyrics online! I don't really want to buy the book, but man, I love this CD...

  • Where are they getting these video's? Is there a DVD release? Is there a video for Far Away or Future Songs?

  • Oooh, it gives me the shivers.

  • amazing. Thank you! It's nice to see people still play great music..keep it up :)

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever... Thanks for posting this, it's been too long since I've visited the music of Cranes...

  • for sure I could hear this song when I was dead this song is from another world...

  • For sure this song could be in my next weeding....!!

(in mi first weeding I put Face to Face from Siouxsie & The Banshees.)

  • I die for this song, please, does someone has 'focus breathe'?, i need to see that one

  • Thank you!

  • The best music for me!

  • god i remember the cranes ,thankyou whoever put this on

  • haunting....

  • Beautiful.

  • una canzone che continua a darmi i brividi ancora dopo oltre 10 anni che l'ascolto..

  • aw *_* thank you for uploading this! <3

  • That made my heart race a little.

  • Alison, so lovely.

  • Allison Shaw

    ^^

    I like her

    eres hermoza nena ^^

  • has anyone got anymore please

  • Love this stuff, do they still exist as a group ?

  • yeah they do

  • A special soul on display.

  • Alison Shaw's vocals are haunting. A Passage through the tryptich of the 'Garden of earthly delights'. New Romanticism where one image superimposes the other as if to merge in a virtual contamporaneity whose actual image is the voice who desires and adores.

  • Great! Long searched for :)

  • Beautiful Song.

  • so great ! i love this group. hello from france !

  • One of my favorite songs :].

  • Not so bad at all :D I like this ^___^
