@obombus Yup! Now Harry carries it in his hand. I believe that this feature was changed in order to add to the gameplay methods in the game. For instance, on the Wii, the Wii remote is used as the flashlight in order to make the gameplay more realistic. :)
idk i played 1 and shattered memories i like sm cuz nightmare sequences were fuckin intense and scary i found myself standing up and running in place cuz i dint want to die and i love the interactiveness the ability to call random numbers hop fences the first one you could kill things with weopons this one gives u the sense of helplessnes and fear but over all there both my fav silent hill games haha
@Deathmetalfan90 I know what you mean! The siren really added to the atmosphere of the Silent Hill games, but I guess the producers felt that it was better to leave it out for this game... XD
I do feel bad though, for the new people coming into Silent Hill through Shattered Memories. Their first impression of Harry won't be a very good one. (plus they won't enjoy the alien ending as much) =0
I mean come on, he looks totally constipated in the 2009 picture, I feel like it doesn't do him much justice. Lol. Chocolate thunder, why won't you gallop...
@202cardline Yeah! You are very right. Those who have entered the Silent Hill series through Silent Hill Shattered Memories have indeed missed out on playing the original! (Which is a very awesome game!) I hope that Shattered Memories interests them enough in the series to check out the previous installments! They are all quite excellent!
@10lolyou The song is called Evening Falls by Samantha Dean. The album is Broken Notes. :) It is a wonderful song. If you check out the album, you can find a bunch of Silent Hill fan made music if you're into that kind of thing.
i love this game, it give a great storyline and awsome graphics. only problem is that they strayed to far from the original plotline of harry mason in silent hill.

You know...of all the terrible, repulsive and downright horrifying things in the Silent Hill games, what makes me jump out of my skin every time is that goddamned siren!

I think the 1999 things were better :D except the gameplay/how harry can manouver in Shattered Memories. The phone is cool too but otherwise the 1999 characters looked better but... that's my opinion...

The story was intriguing, but that was about it. This game is more of an interactive story than an actual--well, game. Save for the running for your life from traffic-light-head monsters. The ending--well, M. Shyalaman has nothing on Silent Hill.
Shattered memories was ok, it was enjoyable and the storyline near the end felt like Jacob's Ladder (which I loved). My only complaints are that Harry looks too nerdy yet familiar, Cybil looked better in the original, and the gameplay is too short, I have mixed feelings about the combat.
Fair enough. One can argue that this gme ruins the original but I personally like it. You know why? Because the series sucks now!! Homecoming was just a travesty. I think this game totally breathes new life in SH. I'm not saying one should consider this as officially part of the series, but rather an experimentation of what the series is capable of. Seems to me they're trying to figure out what can bring the series back to its former glory and I think SM is going down the correct path

As a matter of fact, I heard that the directors of Silent Hill: Shattered Memores are planning on making a sequel to the game already! I wonder if it's going to be a re-imagination of Silent Hill 2?
@Topazmagic LOL! Yes, Silent Hill 2 was indeed a masterpiece, but I'm not saying that I want them to erase it completely and "Re-do" it. I'm merely saying that it would be nice to continue off of Shattered Memories and add something from the original Silent Hill 2 such as characters, situations, or even monsters. Just a thought.. LOL
@Dbobola they need to just do a reboot of the first 2. just like they did a reboot of resident evil 1. they didnt change anything, just polished it off and brought it back to a new audience

@brandnewjosh Yes. That is a very good idea! I would really have liked it if they had actually made a remake of the first and second Silent Hill games with the graphics and gameplay more current and advanced. :)
@Dbobola personally I'd love the next Silent Hill game to follow up from this one, or at least take ideas from it. The concept of monsters changing apperance based on your character's personality is a great idea, as it actually shows Silent Hill reacting to your choices
@julianlev Yes! I know exactly what you mean. That would be really nice if they were to take the concept of the monsters evolving onto the player's personality and take it to another Silent Hill game. From what I've heard, the next Silent Hill game also has a system where the game evolves onto the player as well. The otherworld isn't icy, though. It's more firey and prison-like.
@Bou4ever If you play teh game in the right way you get a very similar Cybil, her appearance (and everybody else's) changes depending on how you play, which makes this video kinda pointless, lol.
I'm actually pretty glad that they didn't do any combat in this one. Combat hasn't always been Silent Hill's thing, and I've always seen myself running around monsters, instead of fighting them.
But, I really enjoyed this game, the story was great and it was to get into. Short though, finished the game in like, 4 hours. If it was longer, I would've liked it a lot more than Silent Hill 2. But Silent Hill 2 still takes the cake for the best Silent Hill.
I know exactly what you mean! I liked the system they had for the monsters. It ended up working out very well for the whole gameplay, in my opinion. :)
And I also agree with Silent Hill 2. Just as Humeir24 was saying, I would give it a 10/10 rating. The storyline was very touching, yet disturbing at the same time.. LOL A masterpiece. :)
yeah but at least in other games they'd eventually stop chasing you. i kept dying because the motion crap wouldn't work half the time, the monsters never stopped following me and it was impossible to hide from them. it wasn't scary that way, it was just annoying. i liked the story, but i hated the nightmare sequences. the ice thing didn't creep me out and i just wanted to get that part over with so it would be interesting again.
I know, right? I think Resident Evil isn't that creepy when you're playing a badass character with a gun (That's not to say I don't like it), but Shattered Memories is creepy because the only thing you can do is run!
I can't help but love everything about the new Harry Mason. I love how apprehensive he is about everything, they did an EXCELLENT job choosing Kirk Thornton as his voice, and I LOVE the freakin' glasses!!
In a way it's a combination of both of those things. LOL The game changes and adapts depending on how to you react to environments, puzzles, etc. and causes the other characters and environment appearances to change
And at the same time, it uses mind tricks to freak out the player as you explore the environment. XD
LOL Yeah. I know what you mean. XD It was always fun to pop around the corner and say, "FREEZE!" and when the monster persisted on getting closer to you, you'd blow its brains out wit a shotgun!!! LOL
Now in Shattered Memories, if you yell, "FREEZE!", you'd better be prepared to get ur butt whooped by some icy monsters. LOL
Hehe Yeah I know what you mean. In the original she had that motherly/ innocent look. :) Gave her character stronger emotions. But I also like how she looks in SHSM. It's pretty cool. LOL

I was excited about this game, not any more. I hate it when games are part of a seires in name only. Theres no cult in this one , no demons. at least all the others kind of had that tread to link them together. and the cheyrl as a little girl looks like kelly osborne in this one. I wont be buying this game.

I somewhat agree with you, the game was somewhat enjoyable but is kinda a slap in the face to fans who have played all the games.
Homecoming was terrible but it mostly stuck to the SH formula.
I think Origins was a step in the right direction because it gave us more of a look into the Cult that is kind of behind everything in the series.
This game was ok but I think SM would have been better off as a spin-off at best.

@rezistorXG That's true. I consider it part of the "Silent Hill" series, but I categorize it into its own series. As a matter of fact, I heard that the directors of Silent Hill: Shattered Memores are planning on making a sequel to the game already! I wonder if it's going to be a re-imagination of Silent Hill 2?

@Topazmagic LOL! Yes, Silent Hill 2 was indeed a masterpiece, but I'm not saying that I want them to erase it completely and "Re-do" it. I'm merely saying that it would be nice to continue off of Shattered Memories and add something from the original Silent Hill 2 such as characters, situations, or even monsters. Just a thought.. LOL

@Dbobola personally I'd love the next Silent Hill game to follow up from this one, or at least take ideas from it. The concept of monsters changing apperance based on your character's personality is a great idea, as it actually shows Silent Hill reacting to your choices

@julianlev Yes! I know exactly what you mean. That would be really nice if they were to take the concept of the monsters evolving onto the player's personality and take it to another Silent Hill game. From what I've heard, the next Silent Hill game also has a system where the game evolves onto the player as well. The otherworld isn't icy, though. It's more firey and prison-like.

@Bou4ever If you play teh game in the right way you get a very similar Cybil, her appearance (and everybody else's) changes depending on how you play, which makes this video kinda pointless, lol.

I'm actually pretty glad that they didn't do any combat in this one. Combat hasn't always been Silent Hill's thing, and I've always seen myself running around monsters, instead of fighting them.
But, I really enjoyed this game, the story was great and it was to get into. Short though, finished the game in like, 4 hours. If it was longer, I would've liked it a lot more than Silent Hill 2. But Silent Hill 2 still takes the cake for the best Silent Hill.

I know exactly what you mean! I liked the system they had for the monsters. It ended up working out very well for the whole gameplay, in my opinion. :)
And I also agree with Silent Hill 2. Just as Humeir24 was saying, I would give it a 10/10 rating. The storyline was very touching, yet disturbing at the same time.. LOL A masterpiece. :)

yeah but at least in other games they'd eventually stop chasing you. i kept dying because the motion crap wouldn't work half the time, the monsters never stopped following me and it was impossible to hide from them. it wasn't scary that way, it was just annoying. i liked the story, but i hated the nightmare sequences. the ice thing didn't creep me out and i just wanted to get that part over with so it would be interesting again.

I know, right? I think Resident Evil isn't that creepy when you're playing a badass character with a gun (That's not to say I don't like it), but Shattered Memories is creepy because the only thing you can do is run!

I can't help but love everything about the new Harry Mason. I love how apprehensive he is about everything, they did an EXCELLENT job choosing Kirk Thornton as his voice, and I LOVE the freakin' glasses!!

In a way it's a combination of both of those things. LOL The game changes and adapts depending on how to you react to environments, puzzles, etc. and causes the other characters and environment appearances to change
And at the same time, it uses mind tricks to freak out the player as you explore the environment. XD

Now in Shattered Memories, if you yell, "FREEZE!", you'd better be prepared to get ur butt whooped by some icy monsters. LOL

I was excited about this game, not any more. I hate it when games are part of a seires in name only. Theres no cult in this one , no demons. at least all the others kind of had that tread to link them together. and the cheyrl as a little girl looks like kelly osborne in this one. I wont be buying this game.
