I find that Hakan has decent options to deal with people jumping as long as they're not a character with a high jump arc like Bison or Blanka, but unoiled has godawful options to escape pressure, so I have a habit of taking U1 most of the time so people won't be as keen to stay in my face pressing buttons for long when I'm unoiled.
what about the ppl who mash dp on wake up?? this guile could have won the match, all he had to do is flash kick on thats it.. its a good oil trap setup but ppl will finally read u like a book n it would become use less!!
@d956impala After Setting, you can just as easily Lvl 2 Focus to U2, or for Guile, block and U2 on their way down. See, if fear of this set-up is good enough to cause that much pressure on their wake-up, you've already gained something from it.
The most damaging thing you in the Oil Trap is U2. If their tendency is to reversal, they're giving you free Oiled U2 with no risk whatsoever on your part.
@hotlikesummer Thinking about it, you guys aren't 100% safe with the walljumps. I use Seth so I know how that works, but with Chun and Guy their wall jumps don't go too far, and with a oiled up Hakan he can slide back easy and U2 like realbodizzle did earlier in training mode. Still Fuerte and Seth get it easier.
but the forward HK isnt safe on block. especially against uppercuts. in fact, uppercuts beat pretty much everything shown here. i guess it all boils down to mindgames. gr8 vid none the less
@jelaninoel Didn't know why I didn't address this earlier. Fwd. HK is in fact safe on block from most reversals, the distance after it will cause most reversals to whiff. All SRK type moves (even Ken's HP) will whiff. The only reversals that can punish it are LP SPD's and Flash Kick.
Regarding what namorecai said, once AE comes out, luck will have nothing to do with it. Best believe Hakan's will be on SS Dive technology. =)
I'm impressed. I was always wondering how to punish it. Very well mixup. But I use, on reaction things. When they jump, you can air grab or j.mp also. But I think with u2, is better. But u forget 1 thing, when they have 2 bars, they can always DP u. Good JOB
Why would you jump out of fear of a normal throw? Delayed crouch tech is what most people would do from a wake up situation anyway which beats the basic premise of this trap.
Yes, Hakan does have a command throw which he can use which may affect the opponents decision to jump, but at that point it becomes a RPS game, rather than a trap to OS all occurrences. It's nice to now he can use such a thing, but it's still not entirely safe and isn't different to what he already had.
@InsertSh33p Of course not, but do you really gain anything from this trap that you did before? Any good play knows not to jump on wakeup anyway in fear of being meaty'd into a combo/knockdown. Many people already delay crouch tech so they won't get caught with a meaty attack or a meaty normal throw. Therefore you would need to throw in many command throws to teach them not to crouch tech. It is basically the same RPS system that he always had, just a bit more useful in the corner.
@wwecrazy See, the real point of this is slimming the opponent's options for the basic "50/50" with his command grab, becoming more a "25/75". With each part you do of the Oil Trap, the options that stem from it are almost entirely in your favor. Why command grab in a situation where you can meaty throw and still be in range for a command grab? You've just covered something that you could have been punished 30-50% of your life for.
@realbodizzle I don't see how this brings the options into your favour though. You are going from an advantageous position while the opp is knocked down, to a neutral position from when they tech. Why not just wait and block and play a reactionary game from there? You are able to throw in meaty command grabs to keep him on his toes, and also able to block reversal attempts and react to any jump outs to escape the command grab. No one is scared of throw anymore unless they can punish OS tech.
@wwecrazy you are kinda right, but this will rape people online, everyone loves jump back heavykick in the corner wether you have a cmd grab character or not, and this trap is a really good way of getting low-mid players online who smash jump
@wwecrazy ...the game isn't played on paper. I agree with you, but in real matches against novice/intermediate competition people are gonna jump and do stupid shit...this video looks like its showing what a person can do so they have to guess less (the attacker) while their opponent in the corner is doing random shit due to panic.
@darkhokage The Oil Trap will not cover wall jumps, nor will it fully cover characters that can instant dive kick or delay their jump in the air (such as Ryu or Gouken). This reason alone dictates which Ultra I use in the match-up.
So THIS is the Oil Trap you've been working on for a good amount of time now. Impressive! Very complex, but well worth learning. Mad props and favorited!

@wwecrazy Unless I'm wrong, won't a delayed crouch tech fail because the throw is meaty? Anyway, no OSs beat all options.
