  • Great Video..

  • he's down kick him ... in the balls!!!

  • If self defence is attack only whatever happned to self defence with restraints? does Japanese karate self defence means kicking the shit out of the attacker? What was to happen if the attacker was your best friend who was drunk at a party and thought you were hitting on his girlfried got jeolous and came at you? Would Japanese karate have you kick the shit out of your best friend?

  • @slouttop provided you short of killing him yeah ^^, a well placed kick in the nuts should do the trick. otherwise take up judo or BJJ diff strokes for different folks.

  • I can defently say in this video they have no fear. they hit eachother like animals this is what i love. Bushido is everything

  • @ZZaiBoT2011 if you took the time to look closely, they hit with open hands except in the first fight.

  • 1:40 is an oddly effective tecnique..... so simple and yet so devestating.

  • Karate Creed: I come to you with empty hands, I have no weapons for my weapons are my mind, my body, my soul, and my teachings...

    Osu!

  • it looks like wing chun :P

  • man! JSDF are a bunch of tough dudes!!

Now, go get those chinese and koreans, and russians that trying to hurt Japan!

    kick all their asses!!

  • In the beginning they are sparring like crazy, that guy is bleeding...

  • Excellent Karate, very precise

  • @chentaichiacademy Is it? What actually makes you think this is karate? If you had actually taken the time to learn what karate was and then watched this, would you think the same?

  • @IEKUKATAKA I did 30 years of Karate. Shotokan, Goyu and Kyukoshinkai. Never liked the bouncy sport crap, but it has a lot of depth, unfortunatly its uncommon with this competiton thing

  • @chentaichiacademy Curious, can you give me an example of the depth you find in Shotokan?

  • @IEKUKATAKA I agree with the fact that Shotokan has become little more than a sport today and its very difficult to see any Dojo doing anything else. Fact its a joke as a martial art in this time. Enoida sensei has given some decent demos and Funakoshi had some nice philosophy, sadly it died with him, Goyu is a much better style

  • @chentaichiacademy I agree. The JKA, given their facilities, their athletic talent and past cultural influences, have missed a perfect chance to develop a premier karate style. But, no, they couldn't listen to an Okinawan because of cultural prejudices, they took his teachings, actually his son's teachings, and changed it into Budo just as they changed a classical sword art into a stick fight. The JKA can't hold a candle to Goju or Uechi Ryu as a martial art, their syllabus has huge holes in it.

  • @IEKUKATAKA You arespot on mate, the Japs have even failed to grasp Taiji, I think their minds are too structured and rigid, Uechi is an incredible art and supposed to be quite old too.

  • Simply the best SENSEI, excpect SHIHAN KASUYA..and yes, its SHOTOKAN..

  • Karate's for pussies. YEAH RIGHT!!

  • Remember Ip Man.

  • @manoynav IP Man lol the only time chinese kung fu beats Japanese karate is in films , IP man is one of those films, there are many chinese movies where some kung fu guy walks into a karate dojo and beats up everybody , but again its only in films .

  • learn some respect first

  • @TheShotokankarateguy accually a great martial artist name Hou Yuen Jia beat Japans national Judo team(in real life)

  • 1:34 His ridge hand needs some work. Swinging out too much.

  • we need this type of karate in the US.

  • @FLCL4EVER1 - We have plenty to styles of Karate in the U.S. that are very similar to this. Shito-Ryu, Shotokan, etc.

  • @Trevorthekid well yeah but i meant the full contact sparring, all we have is point sparring and thats no good.

  • @FLCL4EVER1 - Point sparring actually has a purpose behind it. The theory is that a good martial artist will be able to take an opponent down with one swift, powerful, well-timed technique.

  • Wow, this is much better than those sport things that they show on TV. Great video!

  • @YapClarence ,yeah,you're right mang!

  • Is this JKA Karate??

  • @tokaidosan yes,absolutely right

  • @tokaidosan I think its could be JKA or it could be JKF Goju-kai, since JKF Goju-kai is the most widely popular school in Japan.

  • It is another school of Shotokan.

In that school they train law enforcements! Dammit!

  • @16karateka But shotokan schools normally don't do full contact sparring. Anyway, probably a mixture of styles.

  • no it's not....

i am not a master in this style yet....but i can really tell, that it is clean Shõtoukan-ryu!

  • It is not!

    It's Shotokan! Don't you see?

As a parctitioner, you should recognize those moves they are showing!

    Especially the JION kata!

    Goju-ryu hasn't got this kata!

  • No it is not! it is Shotokan!

  • nope,it's not(thankfully)!

  • once again...super ashi barai...YAKHI in perfection... maybe ronny christopher `ve seen this vid in his early times as a karatebeginner..lol

  • This is awesome. BTW, right after the narrator says "technical marvels," the guy kicks the other guy in the crotch ( 0:55 ). Lol!

  • this is a real karate .. in real speed .... this is the shit !!! Sensei doesnt hit with a full force his partener ...this is not brutal as some wrote ..otherwise the partener now ,he would be dead or in a wheelchair....that karate DOES ...you can destroy a man with one hit

  • Tough, fast and true fightin spirit..RESPECT!

  • Sure it's a demo but you don't learn anything when someone throws fake kicks and punches at you. When that happens you only learn to throw fake blocks and counters. It comes down to technique. If someone tags me when we are sparring, it must be my poor technique that let the attack through. I don't want my Sensei to dumb his attacks down to my level. I want him to push me to reach up to his level, that is the only way I will get better. That is what this video looks like to me.

  • ok ok i see.. so what was the sense of original karate in this video the reporter said it... to kill the opponent with one punch ...princip of ikken hisatsu.. so.. if you do a real karate punch u wouldn´t stand up -.- so what´s the sense of kick someone with full power u just learn how to fall down -.- ..to the technical marvel part.. this i an demonstration.. the students know when his master will attack and his master kick him in his nuts .. great !! but this is just my opinion ..

  • @twfarrell yep let sensei beat the shit out of u at first try...thats really smart...

  • @twfarrell, but if a new person starts to train they will learn nothing from their sensei just punching them, you don't want you'r sensei to 'dumb' it down?? if you have a really good sensei then all that would happen is you'd get hit all the time and you wouldnt learn to block, like riding a bike from the start with no stabilisers, gradually build up until he can hit you full and you can block x

  • this is an demonstration .. why he has to kick the other guy in his nuts and with full power -.- I always thougt a eral master should be able to focus his power and to stop his punches before he hits the partner -.- that ´s just brutality not more ...

  • if he would hit him with full power he wouldn't get back up again....

  • It's Japanese Shotokan, not Okinawan such as Goyu.

It's typical club & university training. Non-contact rules aren't as enforced.

You can always blame it on the other guy for running into your attacks.

  • Wow this is really kickass!!

  • very nice !

    this is karate !

  • Not bad more like boxing at the start,

  • NO. This is Karate. Real Karate, not the bullshit that too many people try to sell as Karate. I would take this over baxing any day.

  • who is the sensei? Do they belong to JKA?

  • Beautiful!!!!!

  • oss !

  • wow, nice video. always great to see some traditional no bs techniques

  • "he will demonstrate his technical marvels" then kicks the guy in the nuts, very technical. love the sweeping in this, nothing like a well timed sweep that sends the guy crashing.

  • hahahahhaha i haven't laughed so hard for so long until saw that part

  • This is not the usual Semi Contact Karate that is propogated by WUKO and many other Karate Organisations.

They are termed as Traditional Okinawan Full Contact Fighting , and the way they train is actually how the Okinawans trained in the 1900's.

Some of these punches to the face and head , kicks to the groins and standing arm lock are actually banned by the Okinawan Government as there were many deaths going around the more hard-lined hardcore traditionalist.

It is not a sport in origin.

  • i think all self defense should start with a good groin kick

  • 2:16 - 2:21

It's good to know these guys know how to defend themselves against pro wrestlers. lol

    Seriously, though, cool vid.

  • Japanese self-defence is actually kicking the ass of you attacker.

  • man of few words so WOW !!!!!!

  • That last kick was PRICELESS !!! Time to go and train !

  • in the first 20 seconds (for all of you guys thinking Karate is show or whatever) you can see that it was born on the battlefields of Okinawa/Japan and if you do a punch or a kick I mean really doing it, not just showing then almost everythin is deadly

  • im totally 100% naked now hehe T

  • OSU !! To All Budo-kas.

THe form practiced is more known as the police variation of shotokan karate-do and its emphasize is on practicality rather than just perfect form.

Just as Judo and Aikido became a part of their curriculum.

Karate was long known as an effective striking art , even before the mere invention of a tag-style competition.

Old or Koryu schools of Karate-Do especially those from Okinawa practices full-contact and not a sport tag where you run touch and escapes away.

  • That is some rough Shotokan!

  • cool it looks gd im also a 2nd kyu at traditional shotokan karate and this is proper stuff ( too much fake things round here )

  • 9 more yrs. to go to make Yudansha rank, good luck. Why you say "too much fake things round here"?Are you doing shiai karate? And if so are you being trained properly?Check out Wayne Otto England's "black pearl" He's quite good.If you're being trained correctly you should developed a lot of dynamic ability, which would help you a lot,& if then is just a simple step to apply it into full contact karate

  • Thank you for your structured comments.

I train with Sensei Kevin Stark 5th dan and Chief Instructor of Association of Traditional Shotokan Karate.

Sensei Stark teaches us the influences of Karate and the importance of Kata, therefore the importance of bunkai.

Tournaments and the modern way is seen as less important.

  • Excellent hopefully you'll be able to post some vids of your dojo and group performing karate.Try with something easy like Kanku or bassai sho kata.

  • God blews

  • Why????

  • Looks very Shotokan influenced.

  • It is shotokan but the way it is supposed to be employe.Actually all karate style are supposed to be practice this way.Due to the heavy sport competition influence, karate has sort of degenarated into a tag game.Few schools today bother to show the whole range & capabilty of karate.Karate in is totallity has nothing to envy from judo, either kodokan or kosen,or from BJJ.Even so at one time when karate was introduce in japan,it was consider another form of jujutsu since it resemble the Atemi-ryu

  • 0:55

    That's gotta sting Lol ouch

  • It's shotokan

  • probobly kuyokushen

  • Mas Oyamas Kyokushin has its roots in shotokan and goju-ryu,basically Oyama did the same thing that shito-ryu did, combine two of the predominant styles of Okinawa.Shotokan is in direct descendancy from the shorin style or Shuri-te and Tomari-te line, while go-ju is from the Naha-te line. There is a third style name Uechi-ryu & I believe that its lineage is more direct or influence from the Nain-Fan or shaolin school, not too sure about it thou

  • Does any one know the style of karate they are practicing? They have kanji charachters on their uniforms but I don't recogize them. Thanks.

  • Japan Self Defence Force Karate is based on Shotokan. The kanji mean Japan Self Defence Force physical training school.

  • It's a karate!!!!

    oss!

  • quisiste decir That's Karate Oss!!?Me entendiste no hablo portugues bien y brasileno menos aun pero lo puedo entender...quieres alluda con tu ingles?

  • You black out for three minutes from blood stoppage and you're dead...

  • Outstanding video! Thanks for posting. The wall sparring is great.

  • First accurate example I've seen of shotokan sparring on You Tube.

  • Check out "Shotokan - the Art of War" on youtube. It has some great older footage, KUGB stuff. If you enjoy this, you'll probably like it. Best regards.

  • take off their uniforms and stil i wont look like kickboxing . in kickboxing ( may thai and k-1. american kickboxing, the hand is used like that of western boxing.

  • Loved the sparring at the beginning. Hardcore.

  • ke buenos recuerdos me trae a la memoria de cuando mi shihan me pegaba igual, bueno ese es la mejor forma de desarrollar siertas habilidades o de aguantar como los sacos de boxeo :P

  • wow, i need to learn this..

  • I like the footsweep and kick at the end. Its how shotokan should be because real life is ruthless.

  • excellent display of what karate is about. i love it!

  • I thought it's a little violent, but it's the best karate video I've ever seen! Incredible when the guy keep fighting with his noise bleeding!

  • that shit was gay it's like wanna be scrapping theres no form to it its like a wiger kid fighting they throw there arms wherever they see fit

  • you sound like an expert....go down to your local shotokan dojo and ask to fight one of the black belts.

then after you've healed write another comment.

  • i hope his local shotokan dojo is mine!

    long live the red triangle!

  • this is sport karate.like the others. The diference is the payes are kaming contact sometimes....It looks like shotokan

  • this is great! what style of karate is it?

  • It says Okinawan Karate, but I think it is based on Shotokan.

  • @R0CKY44 It can also be Shito-ryu that it is very similar. I practice that style.

  • Shotokan

  • @Philmoscowitz

Its direct Shotokan. It says that in the full version.

  • @Philmoscowitz It is shotokan.
