  • I've never seen his draft announcement till now

  • Comment removed

  • he should have stayed away from the skinflutes

  • he started in 11th grade, damn I love him

  • This is "Pure Payton"

  • Walter Payton a Pure runningback

  • long live walter payton

I STRUGGLE , I JUST PRAY I CONTINUE DA FIGHT AND AND ROLL OVER CHALLENGES TO THE... DAY I DIE. AS THE SWEETNESS DID. FROM THE NAME SAKE BRIAN PICCALO , WALTER PAYTON, & BRIAN URLACHER. I AM PROUD TO CALL MYSELF A BEARS FAN.

    NEVER DIE EASY!!!

  • with out a shadow of a doudt the greatest pure athlete I've every seen emitt smith does not even come close so shut up coeboys fans

  • late coming into this... ol' Lebron could use a little Payton or Jordan in his life...

  • lebron james could learn from what walter payton says at the end of this video

  • was Walter talking about Lebron James? 5:55-6:02

  • @Chowan30 was thinking the same exact thing...

  • We know what Walter Payton would think of Lebron James. Of course, James isn't 1/10th the man that Walter Payton was.

  • @ktbeatty

"It doesn't matter who I play for. I'm gonna play as hard as I can."

". . .I felt that was a cowards way. If you couldn't make it with team that you were drafted with and you had to go somewhere else, that was to me was a sign of failure."

  • i love you walter. great video, walter is still the man, we just don't get to see him anymore.

  • could not agree more with heywally.

  • Such a tough guy and so soft spoken...

  • The greatest football player ever!! and had the biggest heart!!

  • Little known fact, Walter Payton was a hunter and he excelled in that endeavor as well. He hold the coveted triple crown of Turkey hunting and he did it with a bow!

  • I agree! It comes down to the man's heart, no one had a bigger heart. I believe that nothing would keep this guy out of a game. The only thing that comes close is Emmitt Smith's playing the Giants with a separated shoulder. But Walter is the toughest!

  • @hwscdr Walter was never hurt because he trained so hard beforehand and was solid as a rock. He just couldn't be injured.

  • DA MAN!

  • pure payton the best eva no doubt

  • Thanks for keeping the clip untouched, not inserting your own aggressive bad 'music', like so many others. TY!

  • YES!!! I absolutely can't stand how so many dopes on here completely ruin stuff like this by feeling the need to insert their own soundtrack. That's my one complaint about youtube...everyone suddenly thinks they're Steven Spielberg or some bigshot music video director. Just let us enjoy some nostalgia without having to add your own personal "flavor" to every single video you post.

  • Right on! :) This was the only good Walter compilation I could find (and one of the better ones at that) that hadn't been ruined. Wasn't like that a few years ago ...

  • @MrRoboto81 i know what you mean and completely agree with you, but many times when you upload a video youtube mutes the audio because of a copyright claim, so if that happens you can only choose a song from a list of songs that youtube offers.

  • RIP Walter Payton 1954-1999.He didn't deserve to die so young. Once when Payton was given a chance for another liver he declined it saying if he took it he would be taking someone elses life away. Now thats a great guy right there caring about other people and not himself. he loved the game too and didn't care about money and just loved playing Football. He grew up poor and never once complained about it what a great guy he should be alive today...

    RIP Walter Payton

    1954-1999 never forgotten

  • His heart was enough to change anyone into the best. His heart is what made him great.

  • man...i cried like a baby when he died

  • #34 FOREVER!

  • I watched Walter as a little kid. He was the only reason my mom would watch with my dad and I...we'd yell for her when the offense took the field, and she'd come running to watch him.

He was a gift given to mankind to lift us all to glory with his achievements.

  • Walter Payton was the player who first got me interested in American football, here in England we only saw brief highlights, but this incredible individual converted me to the game and I have been a bears fan for nearly 30 years. I just wish I had been able to see him live.I have watched endless reels about him and there can be no doubt he was simply the best! RIP Sweetness you will never be forgotten.

  • well said ! walter was/is the best running back to ever play the game !

He head the power of Jim brown and Earl Cambpell...the speed of Eric Dickerson and O.J. Simpson, and the elusiveness of Barry !

plus he could catch and throw ! THE GREATEST EVER !

One day.......maybe.... Tomlinson wil be considered the best. .. .but right now it's all walter !

  • Sweetness.

  • The great thing about Payton's pro career is that he persevered and ultimately got what he coveted...a Super Bowl ring. He was lucky because there have been so many other backs who were the best or among the best of their eras who got close but not never made it to or never SMELLED a Super Bowl: Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson, O.J., and right now, Tomlinson. There have been a few who made it out of tough situations to the promised land: Faulk, Dillon, Riggins, Ottis Anderson, but Payton's first.

  • I met him a year before he was diagnosed.....unbelievable guy, brought so much warmth to a room

  • legend

  • pure payton dvd

  • i wish this man was still alive

  • We know what he quoted, we don't need some jackass like you saying it!

  • dat area where he was at in college look so different now!

  • Buy the book "Payton" its very good and includes this documentary and ESPN's documentary on DVD

  • "That's a coward's way. If you couldn't make it with the team that you were drafted with, and had to go somewhere else. That was, to me, it was a sign of failure."

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting.
