Huskies generally howl in the morning and at night - it is their way of "calling the pack" - and it does not matter if they have a pack or not - YOU are their pack!!!!

@commerceskate I think he is actually saying - "open the refrigerator door and then MOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!" Howling is in their genes - they call the pack AND let the pack know where they are!!!

@MrThaNima Yes - it is 100% instinct - Huskies are very social dogs - their pack is very important to them - and if you have one - YOU are their pack. Howling is a way to call the pack - saying I am here - where are you!!! As far a sirenes - it is probably a sound that sounds somthing like a howl to most dogs - so they are simply answering what they think might be a howl!!!!

And NO sirenes do not hurt their ears anymore than it hurts your ears!!!!

yes he is still cookin'- he's Willie- born July 2, 1993 not far from my house, at neighbors' home.. his mother looked exactly like him, she was put to sleep a few years ago at age 15. Only way people could tell them apart was that his tail curls and hers did not. Willie was born when she was 2...my husband (who died in 95 unfortunately) named him Lick Willie, sort of after the former very gifted "salesman" Pres.Clinton!! Willie still gets around here pretty well,eats well.wants to see me often
